Thanks - it was the wife...just simple complaint of abdominal pains, and then boom.

We took my mom to the US a few months back after a serious car accident here in Dhaka - 3 week hospital stay in Virginia. She is doing very well now...but she almost passed out when she found out what the bill was

The professional courtesy I was shown despite being a surgeon from a completely different field was mind blowing - I was humbled by how down to earth her Primary was.

I know healthcare in the US is expensive, and not everyone has access to it(well you could run into the emergency room, and they're obliged to treat you), but you definitely get value for your money.

Not to sound insensitive and not that the state of your health wasn't extremely concerning at the time, but I still find a comment from that thread utterly hilarious. Something along the lines of "Praying for you, Dr. Z. If the doctor amongst us is sick, then what will happen to us regular patients?" Haay re Bangali...
