So the US government is officially shutdown now. Sometimes the bureaucracy and partisanship in US politics seems much worse than Bangladesh. I don't even know if any western or developing nation goes through such shutdowns.

This is not about partisanship. This is solely an artifact of a battle within the GOP between its radical and moderate wing and the US and the world is hostage to it. Do read this brilliantly erudite article in the Atlantic:

Informative article. I mentioned bipartisanship because the democrats and republicans are not even meeting or thinking of a compromise.

I agree that GOP has a radical Tea-Party backed group. Even John Boehner has no control over them.

Do the conservatives/republican really think they will gain something from this shutdown?

Shubho Mahalaya to everyone here on BC. This is the first time that I'll be not in my city during the Durga Pujo, you couldn't possibly imagine what it means to a guy from Kolkata.

Thanks NW bhai and Roman bhai, I've heard about some celebrations in Frankfurt, but it's hardly enough for a guy from the epicenter.

Bought some cooking utensils, was feeling very proud and eager to show it to my mom, so went on to skype....the instant remark was that I've got it all wrong.

Anyone read S.E. Hinton? She is a very under rated author. But she was my favorite author during my teen years.
