Javed, kheyal korechho kina jaaninaa, but Bangladeshi khaabar kheye kintu aamra shobai motaa hoi-ni. Many of us gained weight after coming to the States -- I suspect due to larger portions, greater calorific content, and a more sedentary lifestyle (no longer having to throw ourselves at the doors of moving crowded buses).

বর্তমান সময়ের মিউজিক ক্রেজ হৃদয় খান। বছর তিনেক আগে তার একটি মিউজিক ভিডিওতে মডেল হিসেবে কাজ করেন সুজানা। সেই সূত্রে হৃদয় খান ও সুজানার ঘনিষ্ঠতা।

দীর্ঘদিন তারা নিজেদের বন্ধু হিসেবে পরিচয় দিলেও তাদের মধ্যে গড়ে উঠেছে রোমান্টিক সম্পর্ক। শুধু তাই নয়, সম্প্রতি তারা বিয়ে করার সিদ্ধান্ত নিয়েছেন। শিগগিরই আনুষ্ঠানিকভাবে এ বিষয়ে ঘোষণা দেবেন তারা। বয়সে ৭ বছর বড় র‌্যাম্প মডেল সুজানা। আর হৃদয় খান এখনো ২১ ছাড়িয়ে যেতে পারেননি। তবুও অসম প্রেমের মিলন ঘটাবেন সুজানা-হৃদয় খান। আগামী ২৭ জানুয়ারি তাদের মিলনের ফুল ফুটবে। নামটা হৃদয় খান। বাস্তবেও তিনি হৃদয় নিয়ে খেলতে ভালোবাসেন। বিশেষ করে প্রেম-বিয়ের ব্যাপারে নবীন প্রজন্মের গায়ক হৃদয় খান দারুণ উদারমনা। বয়স এখনো ২১ না পেরুলেও এরইমধ্যে দুটি বিয়ে সম্পন্ন করে তৃতীয় বিয়ে করতে যাচ্ছেন তিনি। তাতেও অবশ্য হৃদয়ের কিছু যায় আসে না। জনশ্রু আছে, তার প্রথম বউয়ের কোনো খোঁজ নেই। বছর খানেক আগে হঠাৎ করেই প্যাড বাদক মানিকের শালীকে হৃদয় বিয়ে করে পালিয়ে যান। এতে মহাসমস্যায় পড়েন তার বাবা জিঙ্গেল সম্রাটখ্যাত সঙ্গীত পরিচালক রিপন খান।

প্রেম মানে না কোনো নিয়ম-বাধা। বাবা রিপন খান কোনোমতে হৃদয়ের দ্বিতীয় বিয়েটাকেও নাকি ধামাচাপা দিয়েছিলেন। সে যাই হোক, এরপর হৃদয় আরো বেপরোয়া হয়ে উঠেন। বাবার কমান্ড অমান্য করে হৃদয় নিজের মতো জীবনযাপন করতে থাকেন। এতে বাবা রিপন খানের স্বপ্নটা ভেঙে খানখান হয়ে যায়। অথচ কথা ছিল, ফেরদৌস ওয়াহিদ-হাবিব ওয়াহিদের মতো রিপন খান-হৃদয় খানও সঙ্গীতাঙ্গন দাপিয়ে বেড়াবেন। কিন্তু ছেলের প্রেম রোগের জন্য বাবার স্বপ্ন আর পূরণ হয়নি। তাই বাবাও এখন ছেলে হৃদয় খানের খোঁজ খবর রাখছেন না। হৃদয় এখন রাম্প মডেল সুজানার অসম প্রেমে জড়িয়ে পড়েছেন। ৩ বছর আগে তার একটি মিউজিক ভিডিওতে মডেল হয়েছিলেন সুজানা। তারপর থেকেই হৃদয় খান ও সুজানার ঘনিষ্ঠতা। দীর্ঘদিন তারা নিজেদের বন্ধু হিসেবে পরিচয় দিলেও তাদের মধ্যে গড়ে উঠেছে রোমান্টিক সম্পর্ক। শুধু তাই নয়, সমপ্রতি তারা বিয়ে করার সিদ্ধান্ত নিয়েছেন। হৃদয় খানের ঘনিষ্ঠ এক বন্ধু জানিয়েছেন, রাম্প মডেল সুজানা বয়সে হৃদয়ের চেয়ে প্রায় ৭ বছরের বড়। হৃদয় সদ্য টিনএজ পার করেছেন। সুজানার অবশ্য আগে একবার বিয়ে হয়েছে। যুক্তরাষ্ট্র প্রবাসী সামির নামের এক যুবককে ২০০৬ সালে বিয়ে করেন সুজানা।

তবে তাদের সংসার একবছরও টেকেনি। আগামী ২৭ জানুয়ারি আনুষ্ঠানিকভাবে বিয়ের ঘোষণা দেবেন হৃদয় খান। এদিন এসিআইয়ের পৃষ্ঠপোষকতায় ঢাকার একটি হোটেলে অনুষ্ঠিতব্য কনসার্টে গান গাইবেন হৃদয়। এ সময় তার সঙ্গে মঞ্চে উঠবেন সুজানা। হৃদয় খান গাইবেন এবং সুজানা তাতে পারফর্ম করবেন। পারফর্মেন্স শেষে উপস্থিত দর্শকদের সামনে হৃদয় খানের নিজের বিয়ের ঘোষণা দেয়ার কথা রয়েছে। হৃদয় খানের পোশাক-আশাক ঠিক করে দেয়ার পাশাপাশি কোনো অনুষ্ঠানে কি ধরনের গান গাইবেন, তাও ঠিক করে দেয়ার দায়িত্বটাও অনেকদিন ধরে পালন করছেন সুজানা। অবশ্য হৃদয়ের বাবা সঙ্গীত পরিচালক রিপন খানও ছেলের সর্বশেষ হৃদয় ঘটিত ব্যাপারটি জানেন। তিনি এই বিষয়ে কোনো মন্তব্য করতে রাজি হননি।

Knew of a similar incident way back when I was a teenager. Another lad had got married and divorced twice before he reached 21. Turns out the boy was সমকামী but hadn't yet admitted it to himself and was hoping that the "right girl" would snap him out of it. Note that I am not suggesting that Hridoy Khan's reason is the same.

I also knew another, now deceased, rather old Haji gentleman from Old Dhaka who had gone through about 10 or 12 wives (he only had 4 at any given point in time, going through the repeated process of divorcing his oldest wife whenever he decided to marry again). The gentleman was rather wealthy, and ensured that all of his ex-wives were settled with their own houses, and enough money on which to live comfortably for the rest of their lives. To the best of my knowledge, all the women who married him did do willingly, seeing it as a rather profitable short term investment.
