Default Bangladesh In England, test series 2010 : personal goals for players

as we all know bangladesh are going to tour england for primarily a 2 match test series. and before that minumum 1 and maximum 3 warm up matches against surrey/hampshire, essex and england lions.

this should be the personal goals for our players.

BATSMAN

a general goal should be to prepare and adapt them selves with English conditions. where there will be swing in air and also seam movement of the pitch. though these days england have flatter tracks and pitches less conducive to swing and seam. just remember our test at NZ early this year. that was a very flat pitch but that was supposed to be the most fiery pitch. may be we wont get a flat pitch but certainly if a player apply himself there will be good condition for batting. so take the practice games seriuosly to fine tune ur game..

now personal goals:

tamim: u are now the main hope for BD. and u are just 1 league better than the rest. yes u have ur natural game so play it. but perhaps its time to take some responsibility in ur shoulders. play 80% ur natural game and may be 20% according to the situation and team. just see how sachin changed his game as he grew. also see how gayle has recently changing his game. but well there are examples of afridi and sehwag, which may distract tamim. sehwag and afridi still play the same natural game, though javed miandad tried to chage afridi a lot.

imrul: u r very lucky u r still there. after averaging 14, below some of our bowlers in ur career, u should consider ur self very lucky. but as u are there u should not expect u will continue to stay in the team if u continue averaging 13. u may say it was tough to perform in england, but if u can perform in tough conditions that will prove u can be the part of national team for future. the pressure is on you. PROVE URSELF. U HAVE LOT TO PROVE THIS TIME.

zahurul: this is ur chance boy. take it easy, no pressure. just try to learn and improve ur game. if u fail, u should get chances again as imrul got. so try to make most of the opportunities u get.

junaid: i still think u should bat at no 2. any way try to play balls close to ur body. u look a player with good technique when u r doing that. but when u play away from ur body u look awful.

mushfique: u scored a century in english ground. so high expectations on u this time. specially with ur batting. also u r now the VC. so u should be the most responsible man in our batting.

ashraful: what can i say to u ... ... ... nothing.

riadh: u are turning out to be the VVS laxman of BD, attacking in tests, clueless in ODI. well dont worry about ODI's now. concentrate hard on ur batting.

naeem: looks like u will be batting at no 8. but this is not limited overs cricket. so dont hurry. i know u can be patient, but some times u look like u r about to burst. stop this tendency.

shahadat, shafiul, rubel, robin, raj, rabiul : some of u have good defensive skills, some of u have good attacking skills. anyway the thing u need to use most than these two skills is ur HEAD.

BOWLERS

we sometimes believe our bowlers will look like deadly bowlers in these seamy and swingy pitches, but actually they dont. the only reason is they dont have the experience in bowling in these conditions and they dont to know what length or line they should bowl. also most of them dont have enough skill to control swing and seam. i think we should have had a bowling coach or consultant for the pacers in this series. there is still time. coz these young bowlers need some body to guide them in this conditions. otherwise it can go wrong. again they should all try to work hard in the practice games learn how to use these conditions. everybody should work on building a stock delivery and some variations.

now personal goals:

Shahadat: u r disappointing man. u r the ashraful of BD bowling. u raised high hopes with some EID spells and then go sleeping. anyway, champaka has gone. dont know what he has done to u, good or bad. anyway now its up to u. look in urself, and try to bowl the best u can.

Shafiul: dont get too much carried away. keep it straight and simple. dont look for too much variations because when u look to do something else u give away boundary balls. so i think if u can bowl intelligently u can do well this time.

Rubel hossain: its not all about speed. its all about art of bowling. but u have the speed which lots of other bd bowlers dont have. so now its time to combine ur speed with art of bowling. u did well in the tests agaisnt England at home with reverse swing, now u will also get some natural swing in england. make the best use of it.

Mahbububl alam:
U are labelled the swing bowler of BD because u know how to swing the ball. u extract most swing out of bd bowlers. so u only need to learn where to pitch the ball. easier for u.

Robiul Islam: hope u have a good learning experience.

Abdur Razzaque Raj: u should realize test cricket is not for u. i dont think u will play in tests. also u should not play in warm ups and thus wasting chances of a pacer. anyway if u get selected try to work on how u can be a good longer version bowler

Shakib: dont think there is nothing in the pitch for spinners. if u bowl well in england u will do well.

naeem and riadh: both of u are part time bowlers. may be naeem more suited to limited over and riadh more suited to longer version. well all u need to do is build a stock deleivery. hope u watched james tredwell bowl.

and finally to CAPTAIN SHAKIB: if you become defensive, u cant avoid defeat. so dont be defensive too early. keep on attacking.

Pretty boy is going to OWN Kayes and Zunaed.

I'm really looking forward to see how Mushy and Riyad will do in English Pitches specially in the test matches. Mushy and Riyad are our core batsman in the test, and both of them have come a long way in the last couple series, lets see if they care capable of handling it away from home.

Mushy is proven. Made a FC hundred in England at the age of 16.

Everyone should have a single goal. Contribute everything for team. How many years we run with all those personal goals. We are going with Personal Goals for last 10 years.

Someone can tell achieving personal goal will help team in total. Than we should not blame Ashraful for scoring ones in blue moon. He is achieving his goal and keeps himself in the team. Score a 50+ innings or get 4/5 wickets in an innings than you can play 3 or 4 more matches with that innings or bowling. Sometimes they are selected 8 to 10 more matches with that single performance.

Every time they are forgetting that when you are in form you have some responsibility towards the team with your form.

Goal: For Batsmen, Score at least 700+ runs combining both innings. If we cannot do it with 8 specialist batsman in playing XI, we should consider it FAIL.

For Bowlers, Don't embarrass yourself and the team. Try your level best. With the pace attack we have, I really cannot aim higher than that.

The real concern is the following -

if u are chasing another 90 ur personal goal should be to score at least 50 and stay in the end.

if u are chasing another 190 ur personal goal should be to score at least 100 and stay in the end.

u have to adjust ur personal goal according to teams needs. becuase in the end u r playing for the team. so ur objective is to materialize the team objective and at the same time have ur personal goals achieved

Team espirit hardly translate into evaluation for sellecting a player. It's mostly the individual performances that counts. May be only the captain benefits from team performance.

No. Only officials, sometimes coaches. Players only get monetary benefits according to individual performance. Yes, if the team becomes champion or save relegation, ekta celebration party hoi. Ota benefit bolte chaile bola jai.

Good thread offstump.

I'm looking forward to see Tamim showing his class their and gain a county contract. Also Mushy has all the quality to gain one too. These two can set their personal goal to catch some county guys eyes.

I like the thread and especially the goals that you set up for our players, I hope someone from BCB prints a copy of this and gives the individual goals to the players. Ashraful's goal is to motivate and fire up Shahadat, Shahadat always performs well when Ash fires him up. Also, he needs to play his innings fleuntly and show the world he's the classiest batsman in the squad.
