Group B might end up being a major headache. Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan are both much stronger than the other two in the group and the GD might be soaring for whoever ends up finishing second there. এই আফসোস কাল ফুটবল অঙ্গনের অনেকের মুখেই শোনা গেল। পাকিস্তান ড্র করলে এএফসি চ্যালেঞ্জ কাপের চূড়ান্ত পর্বে যাওয়ার টিকিট গতকালই বাংলাদেশের মুঠোয় চলে আসত। কিন্তু পাকিস্তান ১-০ গোলে হেরেছে বাছাইপর্বে ‘বি’ গ্রুপের স্বাগতিক কিরগিজস্তানের সঙ্গে। বাংলাদেশের অপেক্ষা তাই বাড়ছে।

The Philippines, Turkmenistan, and Cambodia have just been credited 3-0 wins in Group E of the Challenge Cup following the decision of Brunei to withdraw from the competition of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) designed primarily for emerging football nations.

Rather than invoking Appendix 2 of its rules, which would have stirred some confusion about the rule changes and Laos qualifying instead of Bangladesh as one of the two best runners up, the AFC have deemed that as Brunei withdrew after the schedule had been arranged their games would be defaulted instead.

Because they have Japanese people living in Japan. We are overwhelmingly Bangali. Our similarities end with our flags, literary and musical traditions, and love of fish and rice.

We haven't really "done it" in cricket yet and cricket is a much smaller sport globally because more countries play soccer and they play seriously.

The Japanese, Koreans and Chinese can each surpass us in cricket within a couple of decade sif they put their minds and resources into cricket they way they did into soccer about 20 years ago. The cohesive programs also included things like drinking more milk to become taller. They can successfully execute such plans because they're not lazy procrastinators like us, and united in their love of country and culture.

Great post This is why not only we struggle in soccer but so do all the subcontinental countries. East Asian countries thrive in sports because their facilities and training regimen is far more advanced. Their athletes are basically machines and are pretty close to European standards. This is why you see them doing better than the West Asian countries despite being smaller in build.

The problem is we are neither physically well built nor quick enough. You need some type of advantage over oppositions but we really don't. This is a good start for us to qualify for the AFC finals but a lot more needs to be done in order for us to ever even dream of qualifying for the World Cup.

বাংলাদেশের ফুটবলের জন্য কালকের দিনটি হতে পারত আনন্দের। কিন্তু তা হলো বিষাদময়। বাংলাদেশের কাছে বজ্রাঘাতের মতোই এল এশিয়ান ফুটবল কনফেডারেশনের (এএফসি) খবরটা। বাংলাদেশ চ্যালেঞ্জ কাপের চূড়ান্ত পর্বে ওঠেনি! এ যেন মহানাটকীয়তা!
এএফসির মতো প্রতিষ্ঠানের এটা চরম অপেশাদার এবং তুঘলকি কাণ্ড ছাড়া আর কিছু নয়। এশিয়ার ফুটবলের সর্বোচ্চ সংস্থার এ সংক্রান্ত বাইলজটাই হাস্যকর। একটা দল খেলতে না এলে বাকি সব গ্রুপের চতুর্থ দলের বিপক্ষে জয়-পরাজয় বিবেচ্য হবে না। এটা অদ্ভুত নিয়ম। শেষ পর্যন্ত এই নিয়মের বলিই হলো বাংলাদেশ।
মজার ব্যাপার, নিজেদের তৈরি বাইলজ এএফসিই প্রথমে মানেনি। তাই এএফসির ওয়েবসাইটই জানিয়ে দেয় বাংলাদেশ চূড়ান্ত পর্বে উঠেছে। কিন্তু শেষ পর্যন্ত বাইলজের সেই ১৬/১ ধারাতেই সমাধান খুঁজে এএফসিই কাল ফলটা পাল্টে দিয়েছে।
সুখবর শোনার অপেক্ষায় থাকা বাফুফের জন্য এটি বয়ে এনেছে একরাশ হতাশা। সভাপতি কাজী সালাউদ্দিন দুঃসংবাদ শুনে ক্ষোভে-দুঃখে ফেডারেশনেই আসেননি। এমনকি সাংবাদিকদের কোনো ফোনও ধরেননি। অন্যরা জানান, সুযোগ থাকলে বিষয়টা নিয়ে এএফসির কাছে আপিল করা হবে। তা ছাড়া এক দিন আগে কোনো দল নাম প্রত্যাহার করতে পারে কি না, সেই বৈধতাও চ্যালেঞ্জ করার কথা ভাবা হচ্ছে।
তাতে ফলপ্রসূ কিছু হবে কিনা বাফুফে বলতে পারছে না। আসলে বাছাইপর্বের শেষ গ্রুপের দল ব্রুনাই নাম প্রত্যাহার করার পরই বাংলাদেশের স্বপ্ন শেষ। যেটি পরে পুনরুজ্জীবিত হয় এএফসিরই আরেকটি সিদ্ধান্তে। নর্দার্ন মারিয়ানা আইল্যান্ডের বিপক্ষে বাংলাদেশের ৪-০ জয়টা বিবেচ্য হয়নি শেষ পর্যন্ত। বাকি দুই ম্যাচে ৩ পয়েন্ট ও ধনাত্মক এক গোলগড় নিয়ে বাংলাদেশ সেরা রানার্সআপ হওয়ার দৌড়ে শেষ পর্যন্ত চারে নেমে গেছে। ভারত তিনে। দুই দলই বাদ।
এএফসি ভুলটা করেছে, ব্রুনাইয়ের বিপক্ষে প্রতিপক্ষ দলগুলোকে ৩-০ গোলে জয়ী ঘোষণা করে। ব্রুনাই খেলতে এসে ওয়াকওভার দিলেই কেবল এই নিয়মটা প্রযোজ্য হতো। শুধু সে ক্ষেত্রেই বাংলাদেশ যেতে পারত চূড়ান্ত পর্বে।
কিন্তু এএফসির আইন বিভাগের পরামর্শ এল ভিন্ন। তারা ব্রুনাইয়ের নাম প্রত্যাহার করার ব্যাপারটা গ্রহণ করেনি। কাল দুপুরে এমন সিদ্ধান্তের পরপরই ওয়েবসাইট থেকে বাংলাদেশের উত্তীর্ণ হওয়া নিয়ে লেখা ছাপার অক্ষরগুলো মুছে ফেলা হয়।
পরিবর্তিত অবস্থায় চূড়ান্ত পর্বে যাওয়া দলগুলোর তালিকা বাফুফের কাছে পাঠিয়েছে এএফসি। তাতে দ্বিতীয় সেরা রানার্সআপ হিসেবে বাংলাদেশের নাম নেই। এ ব্যাপারে কোনো রকম ব্যাখ্যাও দেওয়া হয়নি। যদিও বারবারই তা জানতে চেয়েছে বাফুফে।
এএফসির দেওয়া নতুন হিসাবে ৪ পয়েন্ট নিয়ে সেরা রানার্সআপ হিসেবে পেছন থেকে উঠে আসে লাওস। ৩ পয়েন্ট ও ধনাত্মক ৬ গোলগড় নিয়ে তুর্কমেনিস্তান দ্বিতীয় সেরা রানার্সআপ। এই দুটি দল চূড়ান্ত পর্বে উঠল পাঁচ গ্রুপ চ্যাম্পিয়ন, মিয়ানমার, কিরগিজস্তান, আফগানিস্তান, ফিলিস্তিন ও ফিলিপাইনের সঙ্গে।
