Default New Zealand in India 2010

NZ announce Test squad to India

http://www.cricbuzz.com/cricket-news/31456/nz-announce-test-squad-to-india

Kane Williamson and Hamish Bennett were named in New Zealand's Test squad for the tour of India. Williamson impressed with a hundred in an ODI against Bangladesh, which was one of the positives in their disastrous tour to Bangladesh where they lost the series 4-0.

Coach and selector Mark Greatbatch said Bennett and Williamson backed the decision to select the duo after showing promise on the recent tour of Bangladesh. "Kane Williamson is an impressive young talent and his game continues to improve with his involvement in the Black Caps while Bennett did everything asked of him on the recent tour of Bangladesh and offers the side a genuine pace option," Greatbatch said.

6 players, including Martin Guptill and Chris Martin, who are a part of the New Zealand A squad will travel directly to India.

"The group of players coming from Zimbabwe have had the ideal preparation with three hard fought matches in difficult conditions. The rest of the squad have been training hard and are keen to prove that they are better that the recent performances in Bangladesh," Greatbatch said.

"We are well aware that we are recent performances are not up to scratch and we need to improve if we are to compete with a very strong Indian side - the team are determined to do so. Players outside the 15 will continue to be considered and we will closely monitor performances in the Plunket Shield. The door has not closed for any player."

New Zealand v India Test schedule:

First Test - November 4, Sardar Patel Stadium, Ahmedabad

Second Test - November 12, Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad

Third Test - November 20, Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium, Jamtha, Nagpur

BCCI plans to rest seniors for NZ ODIs

Quote:
"We are planning to send the key Test players to South Africa early to prepare for the series. The conditions in South Africa are quite different and we want to give our players enough time to come to terms with the conditions," a BCCI source told PTI. New Zealand are scheduled to play three Tests and five ODIs in India from November 4 to December 10. But with the BCCI drawing up this plan, many of the top players may skip the ODIs. Batting icon Sachin Tendulkar, captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Rahul Dravid, VVS Laxman, Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, Zaheer Khan and Harbhajan Singh are likely to be in the batch which will leave for South Africa early.

Well, its their wish. If they feel that way, let it be. I think our government should not force them to come here to play. If their anxiety level is that much high, they obviously won't come at any cost. However let me tell you one thing. is a secure place, I am not saying the safest place.
Of course, there have been bomb blasts here, but then you never know where they are going to explode next. I think Ausralia is lucky to be isolated from the world. Otherwise who knows, even Australia could be their target!

And one more thing, please tour Pakistan- the safest, cleanest, purest and healthiest place in the world. You'd find nice and wise people like OBAMA ReBORN over there.

NZ should get their set of players right. The current side consists of so many non-performers, while guys like James Franklin get no chance. Vettori does not seem to be an inspirational captain. He wants to do everything by himself. Leading from the front is good; but when he fails he should encourage the others to come to the party. Overall, India will find a tougher opponent in NZ. Our pitch suited our bowlers and they did a great job in containing the NZ batsmen; but flatter pitch can make a McCullum or a Taylor the match-winner.

Best of luck to the Kiwis.
Hope they can salvage some pride they have lost in Bangladesh.

NZ aim to put Bangladesh behind them
Quote:
"The Bangladesh tour was extremely disappointing," Vettori said. "We will try to rectify that in India. It's a fresh start for us: It's Test cricket and we have new players here and they have not been affected by what happened in Bangladesh."

a point to be noted:

Many people pointed out that New Zealand played horrible against Bangladesh. I would strongly disagree.

Apart from the 3rd ODI, they did bowl us out for 171 and 241. the other three ODIs were mad close.

even after a great collapse, only a great team like New Zealand can post 55 runs in a powerplay, while Bangladesh would have most likely given up.

They made a few mistakes. they played their ususal strength. what was different about this series is that, Bangladesh Capitalized on their mistakes! something we are not used to...

It should also be noted that They could have played better, but hey the conditions were against them and a spirited Bangladesh Display led by Shakib and good support from others proved to be too much for them. we have to remember they did not get any practice matches.

In addition, getting Dangerous Batsmen out at key times in key games helped Bangladesh Contain New Zealand Batting Department.

Credit should be given to where it is due. Well Done Bangladesh

If New Zealand take super humiliation, work really hard, press really hard against India and continue momentum They may be a serious contender for the World Cup 2011. I am not joking about this. They just need a few guys like Shane Bond, James Franklin, Jacob Oram back on their side. they would be a serious threat to any team in the World Cup. let's not forget they have had key players missing on this series too...

india are gonna score 600 easy. tendy will get his 50th fifty.

NZ will have to try and push for a draw. but even that will be tough if they don't get sehwag out soon and let the RR remain above 3.5 an over.
