This is my privilege to present n i l o y's fan theme song for Bangladesh cricket team for the Cricket World Cup 2011. I wish and hope it will help to boost our fans around the world to get behind the team and show ultimate and unconditional support before the Ireland game and beyond.
Muntasir Nasir Shoikat
(n i l o y ) is a passionate singer and a cricketer who used to play for his school team. He is also a passionate fan of the Tigers as he follows them wherever they are. Here is a short profile of our n i l o y:
Muntasir Nasir Shoikat was born in Dhaka, Bangladesh. He is mostly known as Shoikat. He is from a musical family. Shoikat took his first music lesson from his mother. His mother had an excellent base of classical & folk music. Shoikat’s Aunt, Selina Azad (younger sister of his mother) is one of the renowned singers of Bangladesh. One of her famous song “monero ronge rangabo..bonero ghum bhangabo” is still bright with her listeners. Also he is the nephew of Music Director Azad Rahman who has famous tunes such as ‘Jonmo amar dhonno holo mago..’, ‘dora kata bagh dekhe..’, ‘bhalobashar mullo koto..’ etc.
Shoikat was mostly inspired in music from her late mother at his early age. He used to take classical music lessons from his Uncle’s music school at the age of 7.
In 1998, Shoikat formed a band named ‘Harmony’ with his friends and performed number of shows in Dhaka with renowned bands such as Dolchut, Aurthohin, Nemesis, Fumes etc. Shoikot was the main vocal and rhythm guitarist of his band.
In 2004, Shoikot came to Canada for his higher study and since then he is residing in Windsor. He performed many shows in Windsor, Toronto and Detroit. Currently, Shoikot is working on his very 1st album. Hopefully mid of next year, he will be able to release it.
