If I were in Bangladesh now, I would be out in the street yelling my head off. And I ain't a young college brat anymore.
And that's exactly what I did today not being a young college brat either! The jubilation on the streets of Dhaka were ecstatic.

me and a friend were wondering why he went with a 5-4 field while Ash and Naeem were bowling on early and that meant huge gaps existed in the field on both sides of the wicket for easy singles. we were literally screaming at our screens in disgust.

eventually i realized that Shakib was setting sucha field for the part timers (ash and naeem). but he went with a "standard" field with the specialist bowlers and then the Irish had real trouble. if you notice Ireland reached 90-3 very quickly, but then went 88-7 at a slower pace.

i still don't understand the wisdom behind that, and there might not be any except pure chance, but hey, we got the W, and thats what counts.

I also felt that he overbowled ash. Ash should have been taken out 2-3 overs before that 14 run over, which nearly killed the game. again we got the W, and by the end of the game, you could see that Shafi was just bowling without any pressure because he knew he could concede 20 for that last wicket.

You are a tad bit.. If West Indies also does the same, beat Ireland, Ned, England or vice versa, we will have a tie and the NRR will be the factor. Hence, we needed to win by a big margin today. So we are not really out of the woods just yet.

One step and then another and the longest walk is ended. One brick upon another and the highest wall is made.
My friend, Bangladesh may be not close to top six right now,but we are top eight team already.Who knows few years down the line where BD will be. Important thing is keep believing and fighting. That's what exactly our boys have done to defend a small total of 205.So,well done Tigers. There is indeed a reason for celebration.

YES there's nothing to celebrate UNLESS we win the rest of all five matches ...

i'd target mainly Eng & SA, rather than WI/NED.

we should win all five and get to the final, that'd be a proper celebration for me.

This is the sort of game we used to lose - winning ugly is what champions do.

And, by WG Grace's beard, this was an ugly win.

But it was a win.

We dugged out the result, we didn't play well but still won, that's a good thing.

Public needs to stop saying stuff on the field or talking smack and saying stuff that we cannot back up...let us quiet down and not put extra pressure on the players...otherwise they will crumble again like they did today against Ireland...and get battered like against India after saying we will repeat 2007...

You are right. I must have been smoking my happy stuff a little too early in the day. However WI already lost to SA and I was already assuming they were going to loose to India and England too, and that being the case if we beat Nederlands and WI then it would be safe too say we made to the Quarter Finals. Or am I still not getting this right

Damn! Amar ganjar kolkita gelo koi? Haq Mawla!

I hope you are not serious! One of the very few things that we 160 million celebrate together is our wins. I know we did not bat well but the win came from a point where it was just a matter of time for IRE to win (41 runs in last 10 overs with 4 wickets on hand). This was simply amazing!!

This is the win that forced me to reset my password after 2 years to login BC to celebrate with you all. And now you are telling not to celebrate?

PS> Please don\t tag me shuker payra! My age and life does not support to come hear and post regularly but I had my eye always on bc to read all of your discussions.

It's disappointing cause we shld hv won it with big margin but no we were abt to loose.
But still we can celebrate cause we won from a loosing position, tht's wht makes it special & it will lift us more.

Look, everyone has off days, days when you're simply not in form -- you've seen batsmen have those and either play themselves in or get out. Today just happened to be a day when most of our batsmen simply didn't click. These things happen and will happen, hopefully with less frequency as our lads mature as a team. But professional teams can have such off days, and still be able to dig out a win. Our boys did -- and it shows a degree of grit and confidence which was lacking previously. I think that's certainly worth celebrating.

lets look at rest of our wc now..the most hyped game "india match" is over...our fara game "ireland match" is over..so now both the batting and bowling unit now can play without pressure..1st match the bowlers buckled under pressure and in the 2nd match it was the batters

2 years ago, this was a game we'd lose by 6 wickets inside 40 overs.

LOL @ thread opener. Dude, I was celebrating all night even after the match. And I'm still not finished. Defending 205? We are kings.

How is it 'random'? It's called exaggeration, or hyperbole. His point is clear. Any Bangladeshi fan would've celebrated this win. Duh. I'm so tired of people using the word 'random' as an adjective just for a lack of a better word. Awfully limited vocabularies.

tamim is due a century soon.

imrul is due to play a slow but long innings which will prove effective.

nafees may get a game someday and show it was a wrong decision to keep him out of the team.

ashraful got a choto EID with ball, may be a BORO EID with bat will come soon.

Naeem and Mahmudullah may recover their lost game which they were reknowed off. playing well at 7,8.

bowling wise raj and shakib still havent bowl at their best .... ....

shafi got his dream spell yesterday and Rubel will get one soon like the one he got agaisnt NZ in the 4th ODI.

shuvo will get a chance and do something similar to what he did to Finish off NZ in the 2nd ODI.

LOTS OF THINGS WE CAN STILL DO. TODAYS WIN WILL BOOST OUR MORAL FOR THE FUTURE GAMES AND IF THINGS WHAT I MENTIONED BEFORE STARTS TO HAPPEN ... ...
