Default Take or Drop Ashraful

For the crucial match against WI, what do you think should Bd take ashraful or drop him?

by looking at his dance and laugh in the last match i think he got some confidence back..somewhere in his heart he believe he belong to this team now atleast for one more match..it'll be wrong to take this little confidence from him now where he have almost 0 confidence in him..we need a confident ash..i'll say lets play him in the WI match..i have a feeling a cameo innings coming from him..and of this cameo appears i have a feeling of another eid innings in either Eng/SA match..

Now that he's here, persist with him at number 7 but don't rely on him to do anything.

Even someone stupid with better potential at his best is always preferable to someone with less potential because if and when the former strikes, he can deliver victory. Whereas someone smarter with lesser ability may be more consistent and increase our odds for a more honorable defeat, but he won't deliver the type of win we need.

I say put Abir at number 3, move Zunaed down to 6 and use Rokibul for fielding only.

Take him just for the confidence factor. I say this against my better judgement.
I am always happy to be proven wrong. Ash almost always proves me right, including his ONE in the previous match. He plays only for himself and he still knows that he has to prove himself to keep his place so he will play for himself. The two wickets will boost him. He will probably be less effective against WI batters. But, if he is obviously going through a lucky patch, might as well take advantage of it.

I agree with Sohel bhai.

By the way, I was watching the match with my Mama shoshur. BUNCH of folks, including him, were cheering on when he came to the field. I was hoping against hope that he would prove me wrong that day. Six balls later, WHAM. As he was making his way back, the same folks were jeering him. Not cool. You got what you deserved. You can't blame Ashraful for your misguided expectations from him. He is who he is and he hasn't changed himself in 9 years and even though I had hoped he would change, I gave up on that some time ago.

Anyways, I told mama, just watch Ash getting two wickets just to keep his place in the team. He did. He won over his loyal supporters and he few extras. Again, he proved me right.

Shakib, on the other hand, made some bowling decisions that I opposed and I am happy to say that I WAS WRONG.

with all due respect to Ireland, WI is not Ireland. So I dont see his bowling being that effective. Ar batting to kobei bhulse.

However I dont think the selectors will disturb the winning combination, and even considering the lowest probability of sth happening in this universe...its time for Ashraful to play a 'decent' innings, so lets see...

I would take him but he should bowl about 3-4 overs max and lets hope our batsmen from 1-6 deliver so that we dont have to depend a lot on him with the bat.

If Ash is in the team, he should not bowl more than 5 overs. He should not be used against players like Bravo, Sarwan, and Chandarpaul, who are excellent against spin. Against that bunch, we should use Shafiul and Rubel, or at least our top spinners.

Obviously we need him...to give out towels and drinks to the players, or maybe he can apply as a ball boy and throw back the balls into the field after boundaries, I think he has a brighter future as a ball boy than a player

seriously, I can't even think why someone like him would even be considered for a spot in the final 11, what the hell is he still doing in the team?! yea sure he got us 2 crucial wickets, so now let's play him for the next 10 matches...freakin hopeless

It pisses me off the team management considers players like him for a spot which he doesnt deserve one bit, while ignoring Shahriar Nafees

Not like Riad is going to do any better. Plus I have more confidence on Ashraful batting at 7 then Riad. Ash is also handy with the ball ... so take him! (plus remember he destroyed WI in T20 WC)

Dropping him after one match sounds not fair to him IMHO, thus, he stays for the match against WI.

SN does not gine us a sixth bowling option. We have to have a 6th bowler in the team. Shuvo has to be picked in the XI, or back to Ryad.

I voted for taking Ashraful. It was a hard match to win against Ireland as BD wasn't firing in all cylinders. It really didn't matter in the end what individual skills or stats each player had. Instead they all came together as a team and performed brilliantly to put down Ireland. What we need to take notice of is Ireland fought tooth and nail to stay in the match unlike other matches where one side or other would fold meekly to make it a foregone conclusion. This team spirit should be taken in account when we have crucial high emotional matches like these - Ireland, West Indies and England. So putting Ashraful at #7 to bat (i.e. no pressure powerplay hitter) and an unpredictable option in bowling is a decent choice in my opinion.

Also I would like to point out we are up against W. Indies which is not a bad team at all. We have a 50-50 chance of winning so nothing should be taken for granted and a good fight by the team, even if we lose, should be praised.
