Congratulations Riyad on your first new born Son. May Allah put lots of blessings, Happiness in your family and your cricket career.
To be honest with you, I think Riyad is a very useful player. he is not a #7 player, he should play more in the middle order. He should stick to his game, my advice to him: Do not fear your critics, fear Allah! inshaAllah success will come

He is as good as Nasir or Mushfiq but the problem is that he doesnt know his role in the team. Actually quite frankly no one knows his role in the team. Hes very under utilised as a bowler. Hes a good bowler. Mahmudullah can play long innings due to his calmness in the crease.
Congrats to Mahmudullah for a newborn son!

MashAllah! Congrats to a true gentleman of the game.
Predicting names of his children to come (the names don't have to mean anything as long as they sound Middle Eastern):
1. Radiya
2. Ayrad
3. Dariya
4. Diyar

Lol, why do we all do this congratulating thing? Does he (or anyone else for that matter) get to know about all these wishes?!
Congrats on the baby though, Riyad.

It's not out of the question that a forum with 4000 members would get looked at by players, or at least people related to players from time to time.

Riyad is equally inept at ODI cricket...batting down the order his SR of 80 odd is worse than Kayes' top order scoring rate of 60 odd. He's a must in our test lineup though.

I would normally agree with you if I hadn't seen his near perfect ODI innings against Australia at the SBNCS with BC's own al-Sagar, someone who really knows his cricket. He came in at number 4 and both of us were much heartened by what Riyad kept doing right in front of our own eyes. If he has the mental capacity to replicate that performance against QUALITY pace, we'd have an outstanding ODI top order batsman. Obviously he HAS TO bat at number 4, since he's totally useless as a power hitter at 8 or below.

other then that one ash fluke(again another mullah innings in a losing cause) riyad has done nothing in the top order and he has given couple of chances. He himself doesn't want to bat at the top(scared as always)..why one innings in a losing cause has to be given preference?..this is the exact reason why ash is haunting us still

He needs to be given a go there to see whether that was in fact a fluke. If he refuses because of the familiar gutlessness well publicized by Siddons, he should be dropped from the ODI side altogether.

Yes, in ODI, anywhere lower than #5 he shouldn't bat. in domestic cricket, just based on stats, he has done very well batting at #4 or #5 or even at #3 but yet he is consistently being used as a #7 in International matches. and yes, in Tests, this is not really an issue.
so likely lineup:
1. Tamim
2. Anamul
3. Jahurul
4. Shakib
5. Riyad
6. Rahim
7. Nasir
...ok there lies the problem! he was consistently demoted to #7 since we have Alhamdulillah! decent batsmen in the middle order such as Nasir, Rahim and Shakib, thus always delaying Riyad until #7, Nasir is too good of a batsmen to play at #7, #6 is a decent option for him. Nasir should bat no lower than #6!
to solve this problem, either Shakib or Riyad needs to promote at #3 so we can actually assign a Player who is a PP specialist. Rahim is a no-no for number 3, as he is not really the best of players against quality pace. promoting Shakib to #3 involves a risk as without a doubt Alhamdulillah! he is our Best Batsmen, so if he is gone early it will easily demoralize the whole batting lineup. so Riyad's best bet is to MAN UP, and play at #3, for his own good and the good of the country. I am saying this as a big fan of him ...HE is more than capable of succeeding there it's just that he needs to realize this and he has no excuse since He has been playing International Cricket for more than 5 years without getting dropped too much from the Bangladesh National team, so experience is not an excuse, it's the mindset!
Best place for Riyad: #3-#5
Best place for Shakib :#4
Best Place for Rahim: #5-#6
Best place for Nasir: #5-#6
#7: Ashraful/Ziaur/PP specialist/Mortaza/someone who can quickly get you 20-30 runs!
well, wish him all the best!

I was dissapointed with him on one occasion! Unlike most BC members I was never upset with him when he was given the chance to bat lower down the order and failed. but I was upset with him on this occasion:
http://www.espncricinfo.com/banglade...ch/538071.html
Before blaming things on the blackout: Let's look at things in context: Yes, we know that Pakistani bowling unit is strong but all he had to do was just hang in there for another hour! it was a low total to chase, even though he top scored for the team, the conditions were ideal for him to succeed, since the target was low, plenty of balls left, plenty of support for him at the other end, so an ideal opportunity for him to shine, just didn't happen that day!
on the same Test series against Pakistan that followed, I was dissapointed that he didn't register at least a fifty given the opportunities he got. He was playing good too looked very good, was playing solid proper cricket shots and played out to a rash shot before crossing the 30s(Very unlike him!)
