FINALLY! Form is temporary but class is permanent. He seems to have neither at this moment. But he will be back a better cricketer at some point.

Yea. He will be back soon as we go with two pacers in the side. One thing is clear and that is he can not play in top four. He is reluctant anyway and every time he has been moved up the order, he failed. So, thats that..

Id much rather see Zia get 20s and bowl wicket to wicket than see Riyad get 30s and get bashed in his 5 overs.

I'd start seriously considering whether Riyad should be in the Test team. Since he's proven he struggles at #4 and more of 5-7 batsman, which is already filled with Shakib, Mushy, and Nasir, I feel it'll be hard for him to be in the team. Mominul looks a good prospect for the #4 spot and also Naeem scored a century there as well. Also can't forget Raqibul. I know his stats aren't great but he's more capable of batting at the #3, 4 spots compared to Riyad. Ayub is there as well. He's a good player for ODI's and I'd keep him there but I'm not so sure for Tests

Thats the point. He is not a bad batsman in tests but he only can bat at lower middle order. When we play at home we will not play with more than 2 pacer. In that case riyad can be selected at #8 in tests as allrounder.

I believe Mominul could bat at #3 and Naeem can be at #4.

When was the last time he bowled economically and effectively? he is a part timer and mushy does not even use him anyway..Going at 4+ runs an over when he does. He has gotten worse day by day.

He did have a wonderful West Indies series about 4/5 months ago(Strong contention for MOS award), but let's face it 90% of the time he has performed well, it was in SBNS, Mirpur Dhaka. Aside from that one off century in NZ and that 5 wicket haul against West Indies I don't really remember when was the last time he performed outside Bangladesh...

I still very much like Riyad. He is a touch player and when he is in form his quality really shines through. He will be back in the team.

As much as i gave him crap for his recent performaces he is a class act when on song. But if he is to get back he will have to man up at 4,5 or 6. Hope he learned a lesson or two from Waller today.

There's no doubt Riyad can bat at this level or else he wouldn't have played so many matches for us but I think he's better suited for the shorter versions until he can prove he can bat up the order.

his record in the middle order in ODIs isn't that bad tbh, not all players are suited to every format, and not all players can play the same role for the team in each format. riyad has the potential but he's 27 now, been in international cricket for a long time, he can get away with being called an allrounder in the shorter formats but in the test format he's pretty much a batsman but he needs to be able to do it up the order which he's failed to do. needs to go back to FC cricket, bat at like #3 and score heavily, and maybe bowl a bit more to and try and add to his bowling.

but with the way the team is going now i'm hoping they stick with the same sort of team dynamic batting to #8 then having your bowlers, in which case riyad needs to score heavily enough in FC cricket to force his way past either ash at #3, or mominul, shakib, mushy or nasir in the middle order. he should only bat at #8 if he deserves a place in the team judged on his bowling.

Oh no! Who's playing the most important role in cricket, the VC, in this game? W/O Riyad, the VC, we are doomed!

I think Shakib should be made the VC permanently. He could be the kick in the butt that Rahim needs at a times. With Riyad, thats too vadhaimmahs(?) running the team.

Nasir could be the VC. I don't think Shakib wants it, after being the skipper.

is it essential for a team to have a VC ??? i dont think we have a new VC now.

only if a situation arises where mushy needs to go off the field he would give somebody the charge.

but i have never seen mushy leaving the field while keeping.
