Default Don't forget to pay homage to Shafiul today

Outstanding bowling. Very unlucky to not get a wicket. It was a pleasure to see him bowl with such accurate line and length. I have great hopes for him. He had always impressed me with his intelligence and barring that one bad day against India he has been really good the past several months.

Top performer. One or two wickets would have been great.

I have only one fear about him in my mind. With his skinny figure, he has chances to get injuryprone. Otherwise he will be a Bangladeshi great inshallah some day.

Unlucky not to pick up ten Doeschate's wicket especially. Razzak really needs to work on his fielding.

Take a bow, Shafiul!
I am confident that you along with Rubel will show the same outstanding performance against the Proties!

Good work Shaifiul! Very impressive, he has very fluid bowling action (chest on), which should reduce the chances of him getting injured. If you contrast that to Msshrafee, who has a mixed action,(front and side on) that puts a lot of pressure on his body. The biomechanics for Shaiful is very good, Shafiul doen't need to bulk up, he should run and run, build ip those legs.

So we need to all stop going on about his physique.

Shafiul has been a revelation in this world cup.
We knew of him for sure but the whole world is starting to pay attention to his abilities.
Bowled superbly in today's game.

As I said to a few of my mates, Dutch openers simply weren't good enough to nick those deliveries. Bowled like a dream, one of the finest new ball spells by a Bangladeshi

Some positive Shafiul quotes from Cricinfo (culled from various articles).

Quote:
It will remain a mystery how Shafiul didn't pick up a wicket. He darted the ball in, straightened it outside off, slipped in yorkers, tried faster and slower bouncers and didn't bowl a bad ball. He harassed the openers with movement but the ball either thudded high on the pad or missed the edge. It was one of those days. The first run off him was scored only in the 18th delivery, when he tried a slower one. Netherlands promoted Mudassar Bukhari to pinch some quick runs but Shafiul put him in his place in the 11th over. Two yorkers jammed the bottom of the bat, a bouncer pinged the shoulder and a slower one beat the waft.
And

Quote:
The misfortune
Shafiul Islam kept moving the ball consistently in his first spell, mixed in the yorkers, and the bouncers of both varieties. Still he couldn't get a wicket: he often missed the edge; when he hit the pad, it would be too high. The first spell made for impressive reading, 6-3-7-0, but the wickets column remained blank. When he came back at the death, Shafiul would have thought he had finally got his wicket when ten Doeschate hit him straight to deep square leg. Razzak, however, dropped it. Some things are not meant to be.

Was busy at work...but still somehow managed to synchronize my viewing with his spells That 1st spell was brilliant, they simply didn't know what to do...and the 2nd spell, with them looking to accelerate was also very good, shame Razzak dropped the sitter.

Shafiul deserved a wicket to go with his super economical spell.

Now don't let the praise get to your head, keep working hard on the pitch and off the pitch work on your strength, and core muscles, so that we can watch you continue to bowl for us 7-8 years down the line.

He has to take the Tigers to QF now by taking wickets against the Proties and he will, inshAllah.
We believe in you, Shafiul

Didn't sleep a wink, but it was worth it. Shafiul bowled like a dream and would have got at least a couple of wickets against better batsmen. Razzak's fielding was abominable today. Gave a lot of runs while bowling due to inability to field cleanly and dropped a sitter, robbing Shafiul. He should work on his fielding.

hats off to Shafiul and pray that this young lad continues his services to our country for years to come. He's got the potentials to become the McGrath of Bangladesh in near future. When Masrafe gets back we will have a fantastic pace trio.

Shakib hails Shafiul as key

Despite the lack of wickets, Shafiul's contribution was not lost on either of the captains. What made his first spell of 6-3-7-0, more than the number of edges he missed out on, was that the batsmen were targeting him while the ball was hard and coming on. Yet they probably felt lucky they didn't lose any wickets to him [1].

"In his first spell, he got nice away swing," Peter Borren, Netherlands' captain, said of him. "He didn't bowl a bad ball pretty much the whole day. He was pretty consistent. We were looking to kind of attack the seamers at the start because we thought that might be our opportunity to score a little bit, in the Powerplay against the hard ball with some pace on the ball, but to be honest he didn't allow us to do that. He bowled really nicely today, and credit to him for giving nothing away. He didn't go for many runs, and he probably deserved more wickets than he got [1]."

Shakib Al Hasan was full of praise too. "The first two matches we won were both due to massive contributions from Shafiul," he said. "He delivered at crucial moments. Today also he did very well with the new ball, and even later in the innings. I think he has learnt a lot from the India match, which he is being able to apply now. And that is giving him the confidence that he can be a world-class bowler" [1] .

The numbers speak for him. Although if it was against a stronger opponent, the numbers would have been a bit different, he bowled extremely well.

Overall, the whole bowling unit did well. No no-balls, no-wides, and just a handful leg byes. Such disciplined show.

However, I'm fearing for the worst against the Saffers. they're no more the chokers and will probably do enough damage early on to restrict our bowlers from continuing this way.

He treats the cricket ball like granade. So he never grips a ball in one chance even during ground fielding. Shafiul missed a wkt for him.
