Congrats - I love the fact that he's back. I hope he stays here with good form. He is one batsman who can make us wildly successful in ODIs and Tests.

SN was looking a little shaky against the Dutch (kept finding the fielders, and didn't look as assured against spinners as I would have thought), but he eventually settled down. I hope more international matches will allow him to become one of our all-time greats, with an average in excess of 40.

He looked better than all others at the latter stage. He has the potential of scoring fast n consistently.

He only averages 18.21 against the G8! Damn, that's bad. Hopefully he can prove that he belongs at this level in time.

Thanks for the post and making few people understand what actaully that shariar nafees
is...He is a ''nothing player '' against good teams. he is only a minnow basher! 2000 runs in 67 looks good in paper..but when u c 1400 of these runs r against minnows, u know the class of that player. He must only play against weaker teams.

a few thoughts:
during 2006-end of Whatmore era: how many times have we lost to associates? (Nafees was in prime form at that time)
during Siddons era: there always a 50/50 chance we lose to an associate.
I personally am grateful for the fact that a country like Bangladesh produced a so called "Minnow-Basher" during an era when it was vital for us to make an outstanding impression on world cricket and separate ourselves from the lesser ranked teams.

Dude seriously u and some other ppl here need to stop this "minnow" bashing thing!
The whole Bangladesh team are minnow Bashers! If it wasn't for the Zim series every year neither Shakib nor Tamim nor Razzaq would have been here! Tamim scored his highest run against them, Razzaq has the best record against them too! What was Bangladesh"s achievement last year? Look at everyones ODI record before giving Nafees a tag alone! Forgive me but Shakib didn't even perform well against them neither did Tamim except that one 95! I don't remember anyone scoring a century against the aussie either!
If it wasn't for ICL, he would have been our captain today!

Why don't you take a look (borrowed from deshibhai):
BD ODI BATTING AVERAGES AGAINST TOP 8 TEAMS (2000 - PRESENT):
Player
Inns Runs Ave SR
Jahurul Islam 3 78 39.0 71.6
Imrul Kayes 26 845 32.5 65.6

Mushfiqur Rahman 18 241 15.1 46.5
Khaled Mahmud 43 599 15.0 65.5
Yeah, Shakib's and Tamim's averages are very close to Nafees'. It's cool if you are a Nafees fan, but don't tell others to not look at this objectively and lie (or not-knowlingly speak) about numbers in your odd quest to make others fanboys, too. It's right there. There's a gulf of difference between Nafees average and the other starters' in our batting line-up. And regarding other players' performance being better, too, against weaker opponents, duh. (Common sense dictates that's bound to happen.) But not nearly as big a diff as in Nafees' case.

Ok first of all, I am not a Nafees fan but I do like his batting. Second none of these averages are real representations anymore as Nafees have not played enough cricket in last 3 years! 3 years back Shakib and Tamims average was not much better! Its still not a big difference between his and theirs! I am not gonna argue that Nafees is a better player because he is not! But if he played al along, today he could have been better! In last 2 years BD played against a second string West Indies and a shattered New Zealand. This aided to everyones record no doubt! And ur g8 Bashers were completely tactless against the minnows lately mind you!

Yes, Nafees didn't play regularly the past couple of years, and yes, his average could've been better if he did. But he DIDN'T. What are you proposing here? That we should pity him and excuse the fact that he didn't play the last couple of years and that his avg is still what it is, and play him because we love him so much?
And, lol, what do you mean these numbers are not real representations? Should we randomly generate some numbers and fill in the blanks for Nafees?
