Mushy has to make way for Jahurul. Plus he can probably be a better number 4 batsman than Rokibul/SN.
What kind of form has been on lately? Is he playing in the NCL?

Riyad, Naeem: Both of them failed to adapt to their late order positions. It's high time Nasir be tried in place of Riyad and a specialist bowler replaces Naeem. Riyad and Naeem should be sent on the A-team tour as specialist batsmen instead.

SN: Looked real rusty in last two ODIs. The A-team looks more appropriate place for him at the moment.

This should be the series of reckoning for Rock, Mushfiq, and Zunaed. If they continue with their poor forms, and someone from the A-team put his hands up, they should be gone for good.

So, my playing XI would be -

Tamim
Imrul
Zunaed
Raqibul
Shakib
Mushfiq
Nasir
Shafiul
Shuvo
Razzak
Rubel

I won't name a reserve bench for the series, I rather have fringe players sent on the A-team tour. If we so badly need an injury replacement, pick someone from the NCL. Use couple of good fielders from the academy to be used as substitute fielders and to carry towels.
zunayed and raqibul got many chances, where SN got two chances......i would like to give SN couple of chances and drop zunayed and raqibul

mushfique should be dropped too......horrible performance recently

We need to create some pressure to kick out mushfiqur Rahim out of the national side, when Jahurul is such a much better player

Second what Eshen said - reluctant to make wholesale changes in the team, but have to do it out of necessity. Of the current squad, those I would persist with :

Tamim, Imrul, Junaed, Nafees, Mushy, Shakib
Shubho, Razzak, Shafiul, Rubel, Nazmul

Those whose positions need to be reconsidered :

Rokibul & Riyad : Better prospects for Tests. They don't fit in the ODI mould, especially for the modern day game, where an utility player who can both bat and bowl well has more use.

Naeem : he disappointed me bigtime. Yes he never was used as the top-order batsman he always was before breaking into the national team, and may have had his batting style tweaked by Siddons for the lower-order position, but a top-order batsman should be able to adjust in due time. Naeem simply failed at that. Mon uthe gese...

Time to bid adios : Ashraful

Beneficiary of the changes : Mashrafe, Jahirul, Shabbir, Nasir

Captaincy : Shakib is the best we have for the role, but his individual performances both with bat and ball are getting hindered. Shakib couldn't inspire the team to win in cruch pressure situations (both WI and SA were games we needed to win), and to me, that is simply succumbing to enermosity of the pressure of expectations. If Mashrafe is fit, give him the duty and take it one series at a time.

With all the factors in mind, my XV for the Aussie series :

Tamim, Imrul, Nafees, Mushy (wk), Shakib, Jahirul, Nasir, Shubho, Shafiul, Mashrafe (c), Razzak
Junaed, Shabbir, Rubel, Nazmul

Nearly same but why do u have to pick 4 seamers in home condition?

Mash won't be back as I'm pretty sure he isn't even70% fit. So I will bring in Shuvogoto Hom for Mash to solve our number 4 batsman.

Junaid needs to get drop as well...enough with free rides in the team....won't work hard unless he feels the pain of being out of the Nat team. Plus, Tait, Lee, Jhonson won't take more than one over each to find his weakness meaning we will be 0-1 before DA game even starts

Habfreak A (Whining like a freshly spanked 7 year old): WHOLESALE CHANGE! Bring in every 19 year old that scores a century in the National league. And then end up in 2015 with another team full of 23 year olds that are still too green to carry the load of the expectation.

Habfreak B (trying to be realistic and realizing that there's no quick fix):
Tamim
Imrul
Zunaid/Raquibul
Shakib (C)
jahirul/kapali
Mushfique/Dhiman
Shuvo
Mashrafe
Razzak
Shahadat/Riayd
Rubel/Shafiul

Jahurul is much better than Junaid and Shahriar... For Autralia series bring in Jahurul , Shabbir, and Kapali.

Starting XI:

Tamim
Imrul
S.Nafees (Give him another year, how much worse can he do than Zunaed?)
Jahurul Islam [WK] (Deserves a chance)
Mahmudullah Riyad (He's a middle order batsmen IMO)
Shakib* (Focus more on bowling, batting can be secondary)
Sabbir Rahman (Maybe the finisher we've been looking for?)
Mashrafe
Shafiul
Rubel
Razzak

12th man: Shuvo
Mushfiq
Nazmul
Naeem

1. If any of you watched the Bangladesh vs. South Africa game from the very begining, you may have noticed that there was already a hint of disrespect by Tamim to Nafees. Right after the national anthem ended, Nafees said something to Tamim to pick up his kit, Tamim ignored him and said something in return, Nafees asked Shakib to intervene and the captain also rejected Nafees and didnt co-operate. A very minor thing. But when I saw it in TV, I sensed that either its between Nafees and the team or this has something to do with the pre-Siddons vs. post-Siddons grouping that we hear from the journalists.

2. That part I saw it in TV but I also read in Ittefaq.com that Ashraful was asked to stand in the net before the South Africa match for one hour even when he was told that he will not be in the team. He was almost crying as the junior team members getting net practice and he isnt. It is not his fault that the selectors are selecting him despite his off-form but he is the one who is going through this crowd bashing all the time.

3. We all saw and killed the horse to death about the issue of Mashrafee selection. When our seam bowlers were constantly bowling leg side and were not able to bowl to the line, his absence was dearly felt. His experience in talking to young pacers during the match was severly missed. Commentators like Artherton, Gavaskar also mentioned that you do not replace pace bowlers radically, you do that with one senior pacer around to guide the newbies. They need the guidance to cope with world class players that the senior one has seen. We all know how Siddons got into direct confrontation with Mashrafee and how his whole presence/net practice and desire to be part of the team became a bitter issue all around.

4. I was watching the Banglavision analytical show hosted by Bashar. His guest was Rafique the other day. Rafique broke into tears when he was saying that he got an offer from India before the World Cup but he rejected it. He wanted to help Bangladesh and offered his assistance for free. The board didnt say a thing to him. He also mentioned that this generation of players seemed to be more professional in taking money but not passionate for playing for Bangladesh. He was almost crying and Bashar didnt know what to say,, there was an awkard silence for few seconds and later Rafque went into a different topic. This is nothing new, Bashar, Pilot, Rafique, Shujon like many ex players are neglected by the board.

I included 4 very specific examples of what is happening in BCB these days. We want a team to perform but a team of 21 year olders cannot be world beaters. When Pakistan is brining back Shoaib Akhter, Razzaque we are dumping Shahadat or Rasel or even Mashrafee. When Shafiul was unable to bowl the lines to the South Africans, NOT A SINGLE player went and talked to him like Ashraful or Mashrafee or Bashar used to do. When a player like Muralitharan, Johnston, Oboya, Tikolo is still playing, our Nazimuddin, Mithun, Rasel, Shahadat, Farhad Reza, Dhiman Ghosh, Shamshur Rahman are already forgotten names... No team in the world can flourish with this type of team selection process where we are not blending experience and constantly bringing in changes. It is high time that we bring back experience with talent and let talent be solidified under the wings of experienced players.

pretty unfortunate if the above things are true. IMO, SN paid his dues and should be embraced back as any other.

This post will likely get bashed: but I think Tamim and Shakib both needs some rest for the sake of their emotional health. They are not currently mentally in a healthy state to play positive cricket. I think they need to spend a lot of quality time with family and friends(things that generally make them happy+ non cricket related) Hopefully the next few days they will focus on non-cricket related things:

so my controvertial XI(non-Tamim +Shakib):

Imrul Kayes
Shahriar Nafees
Mahmudullah Riyad
Alok Kapali
Mushfiqur Rahim(wk)(c)
Junaed Siddique
Nasir Hossain
Shafiul Islam
Shruwadi Shuvo
Rubel Hossain
Nazmul Hossain

this XI will receive very little hype

@ Dhakablues,

I was quite surprised that Shahadat Hossain didn't get picked. I thought as a veteran national player geting 2 five wicket hauls in the recent DPL that too under excellent economy rate is enough achievement.

the reason why Shahadat was discarded from the ODI team is because he was too expensive, but he was always amongst the wickets! now that he has solved this problem(or so it appears based on DPL stats) he should get recall IMO!

Also just of his fighting spirit, he should be picked. We do not need players who give up before the game.

I think the time has come to build different teams for the three different formats we are playing now. We must pick new faces from the Domestic league for the T-20 versions and ODIs... and keep the more experienced ones for Tests...

I am happy Shahadat is not playing ODIs... I feel we must keep some of these pacers fresh for our Test match encounters.

Time to give Jahirul Islam, Shamsur Rahman, Nasir Hossain, Noor Hossain, Kamrul Islam Rabbi, Fazle Rabbi, Nazimuddin, Shabbir, Kapali, Mosharaf Hossain, Shuvagoto Hom etc another go at the international stage... If we are lucky 2-3 of these guys will perform and we will have a larger pool of players to select from in the future...
