This is the chance to send some of the main players under A team tag. Help them learn such deliveries that ran havoc.

This is a timely tour. We need replacements for the national team, at the same time we don't want to give any freebie to anyone. Mushfiq, Riyad, Rock, and Ash showed forms in domestic leagues don't mean much in the international stage, thus we need the A-team tours to filter players.

My team would be -

Jahurul Islam: Lets see if he can force his way back into the national team.

Shahriar Nafees: As I said in another thread, he looks rusty, A-team should be the appropriate place to re-tune him.

Shamsur Rahman: He has been on the fringe of the national team selection for years, should be an auto choice for the A-team.

Mahmudullah: No point continue with him as the #7 in the national team (I want Nasir there from the Aussie series), Riyad needs to prove his worth as a specialist batsman. He will be also my captain for the team.

Alok Kapali: Lets see what the hype is all about.

Naeem Islam: Same as Riyad.

Anamul Haque: The best keeper-batsman I see from Bangladesh at this point.

Farhad Reza: Time to give him another try.

Elias Sunny: He has done more than enough in last of couple of domestic seasons to deserve a call.

Shahadat Hossain: Should be an auto choice for the A-team at this point, especially in FC matches.

Kamrul Islam Rabbi: Lets see what Pont seen in him.

Shabbir Rahman: He has not lived up to the hype this domestic season, but still should be good enough to be in the squad.

Shuvagoto Hom: Should be an auto choice, at least to be in the touring party.

Saqlain Sajib: Done more than enough to deserve a call.

Nazmul Hossain: Should be there for the list-A series.

No Nasir Hossain, as I want to see him in the ODI team for the Aussies series instead. May be he can join the team later for the list-A series.

My squad of 18 for FC and list A matches

Batsmen/Wicket keeper

Saghir Hossain: Want to groom a back up wicketkeeper (Jahurul Islam should be in the national XI)
Shahriar Nafees: Needs to learn how to play quality seamers.
Shamsur Rahman: A-team regular .
Anamul Haque: back-up keeper, however could test his batting
Mithun Ali: Try out his batting
Shabbir Rahman
Nazimuddin
Shuvagoto Hom

Spinner all-rounders

Alok Kapali: Lets see if he can live up to his talent
Naeem Islam: Needs to reconsider/ re-evaluate what kind of player he truly is.
Fazle Mahmud

Seamers /Pace All rounder

Dolar Mahmud: The valuable pacing All-rounder Bangladesh needs (more capable than Farhad Reza)
Mahbubul Alam (Robin): The best swing bowler in Bangladesh, needs to master his skills, gain some pace, then he could become a great asset for tests overseas (too bad the guy is so old, really could have been developed into a great bowler much earlier, still a good five years of cricket left in him)
Shahadat Hossain
Kamrul Islam Rabbi
Talha Jubair

Specialist Spinners

Saqlain Sajib
Noor Hossain: A must, he needs to be developed.

Rudolph to lead South Africa A

CRICKET SOUTH AFRICA (CSA) on Wednesday named Jacques Rudolph of the Nashua Titans as captain of the South Africa A side for next month’s home series against their Bangladeshi counterparts.

“Jacques will lead the team in both the four-day and one-day series,” commented selection convener Andrew Hudson, “although he may not be available for the final one-day match. He has done an excellent job for the Titans this summer both as leader and player and he brings a level of experience that will be invaluable, particularly to the younger players.”

The South Africa A side will be defending a proud record which saw them unbeaten in two away series on the sub-continent last year.

“There were five players we could not consider because of their commitments to the Indian Premier League,” added Hudson. “They are Rilee Rossouw, Jonathan Vandiar, Rusty Theron, Wayne Parnell and Colin Ingram.”

There are interesting new bowling selections in Craig Alexander of the bizhub Highveld Lions and Keshav Maharaj of the Nashua Dolphins as the selectors look to build depth in this area. Alexander is one of the quickest bowlers in the country and has represented South Africa in two under-19 World Cups. Maharaj, a left arm spinner, has come to the fore in the Dolphins’ limited overs campaigns this season. He is also a former SA Schools player.

There is also a return for impressive Nashua Titans seamer Ethy Mbhalati who missed both of last year’s South Africa A tours through injury and a recall for Justin Ontong of the Nashua Mobile Cape Cobras who has shown impressive form this season.

Farhaan Behardien, the hard-hitting Nashua Titans all-rounder, also gets a chance at this level.

South Africa A four-day squad: Jacques Rudolph (Nashua Titans, capt), Craig Alexander (bizhub Highveld Lions), Farhaan Behardien (Nashua Titans), Dean Elgar (Chevrolet Knights), Quinton Friend (Nashua Dolphins), Heino Kuhn (Nashua Titans), Keshav Maharaj (Nashua Dolphins), Ethy Mbhalati (Nashua Titans), Ryan McLaren (Chevrolet Knights), Justin Ontong (Nashua Mobile Cape Cobras), Vernon Philander (Nashua Mobile Cape Cobras), Andrew Puttick (Nashua Mobile Cape Cobras), Stiaan van Zyl (Nashua Mobile Cape Cobras).

South Africa A one-day squad: Jacques Rudolph (Nashua Titans, capt), Craig Alexander (bizhub Highveld Lions), Farhaan Behardien (Nashua Titans), Loots Bosman (Nashua Dolphins), Dean Elgar (Chevrolet Knights), Imraan Khan (Nashua Dolphins), Heino Kuhn (Nashua Titans), Keshav Maharaj (Nashua Dolphins), Ethy Mbhalati (NashuaTitans), Ryan McLaren (Chevrolet Knights), David Miller (Nashua Dolphins), Vernon Philander (Nashua Mobile Cape Cobras).

I wanna see a good come back of Aftab Ahmed with good batting form by performing well in the A team. I would like to see Aftab Ahmed playing in the middle order in the national team with good batting form and the strike rate of over 80.

Well, at this point, Aftab is not a force to be reckoned even in Chittagong club leagues. It will be a joke if selectors pick him in the A-team.

Aftab is out of touch for such a long time but we need the Aftab who is fully fit with good batting form. It's up to the selectors to give him chances for A team and I think he still deserves chances to play in A team. He has nothing new to prove in local Chitttagong club leagues even he socred 2 centuries in a row. We know the cricketing structure of Bangladesh local matches are pretty bad.

Also, Aftab is miles better than Junaid, Naeem and Mushfiq

That is a mighty strong SA squad with the likes of Rudolph, Kuhn, McLaren, Philander and van Zyl so expectations should be limited to personal achievements and nothing more.

This is a great opportunity for players like Nasir, Shabbir, Shubagoto, Asif to learn their trade. Please no Aftab, the guy can't even average 20 for Ctg in the domestic competition.

People who are advocating for Aftab are obviously a fan of jodi laigga jai cricket . .

Want to see Alok (if not picked for ODIs), Farhad Reza, Farhad Hossain, Shuvagoto, Noor Hossain, Shabbir, Shahadat, Robin, Rabbi, Sahagir, Dhiman, Ashraful, Mushfiq, Saqlain, Elias Sunny, Anamul, Rony Talukdar, Shamsur, Naeem, Fazle Rabbi, Mahmudul et el.

Nasir should debut against Australia. Jaharul should come in for Mushy.

I would like these 20 players below to be selected.

Batsmans:
1) Shamsur Rahman Shuvo
2) Farhad Hossain
3) Rony Talukder/Junaid Siddique/Rok
4) Marshall Ayub (He has been decent for last 4/5 yrs in domestic leagues; was close to get even a NAT call once....the problem with him is that he hardly convert his 50's into 100's.)
5) Mehrab jr (FC only)
6) Nazmiuddin
7) Asif Ahmed/Mominul

Wk's
1) Shagir Hossain (Only for FC please)
2) Mithun Ali (Only for OD please)
3) Anamul Haque Bijoy (Probably the best wk-batsman around in the country...but needs to be more matured so it would be better for him to play more competitive cricket before we actually call him for the next T20 int.

AR's
1) Riyad/Nayeem (one of them should be left out of the Aus squad and let him tour with the A team.
2) Mahmudul Hasan (Best OS in the country)
3) Farhad Reza (Seems to be in great form)
4) Alok Kapali (Only OD please)

Bowlers
1) Shahdat Hossain
2) Mahbubul Alam Robin
3) Talha Jubair
4) Saqlain Shajib (Dominationg in NCL for last 2 yrs with his SLA)
5) Kamrul Hossain Rabbi
6) Nur Hossain (MUST)

NO NASIR, SHUVOGOTO AND JAHIRUL, AS I EXPECT THEM TO BE WITH THE NAT SQUAD VS AUSTRALIA.

set up a criteria to pick up the teams...i would pick players for the first class matches who are averaging 35/40+ in batting the domestic league and below 28 average in bowling.

as for the List A matches pick up players who average 30/35+ in recently completed List A/Dhaka Leagues and below 28 average in below.

If players picked cannot score and take wickets against our domestic players....how can you expect them to do good against SA A in South Africa?

Time for put our emotion away and work with logic.

Default My sides

I think the players to be chosen here should be chosen only if they are seen to have any potential to play for Bangladesh in near future. We can put one or two of the national players from the longer version in here. The other thing to remember is that a terrible performance here will embarrass us.
Following is my 1st class team:
1. Junaid Siddique
2. Shahriar Nafees
3. Shamsur Rahman
4. Farhad Hossain
5. Shuvogoto Hom
6. Alok Kapali (c)
7. Saghir Hossain (wk)
8. Shahadat Hossain
9. Kamrul Islam
10. Dollar Mahmud
11. Saqlain Sajib (specialist spinner)
12th: Elias Sunny ( can bat, so may replace one of the top 6)
13-15: Robiul Islam, Talha Jobair, Aminul Islam.
One day side: I would bring in Mashrafee Mortaza for Saqlain Sajib and Faisal Hossain for one of Talha and Robiul. Elias Sunny can bat pretty well and also is a very good spinner. Mashrafee clearly needs some game time. I would also include Aminul Islam in the side at no.3 or no. 4 if possible and drop one of the top four for 2-3 games.
Hopeful that this team will whitewash the SA A ODI team and draw or win the test series.

Ashraful may captain the A team. Few more from National squad will join him (????). Who could that be.

yeap agree...selection criteria needs to be adjusted enough of free tickets...experience and favorism factors..if we need to improve we need to change this.

Overall, good initiative that A team will be traveling and great option to prepare and assess our reserves...hope their will be consistency in performances...if "few" national players get drafted and plays all the games that might not be a good option as it will not fair for the reserve players to prove their abilities...we already saw Naeem, Riyad, Rokibul no point to play them again..

lamisa,

SA isn't a place for any U19 to captain an A side! These games will be as difficult as any Test matches or ODIs!

coach tomake jhari diche in another thread..lol...j/k

can't agree with you here..A team does not mean U-19 game and it should be almost like a national team game...we really need a A-team which is almost like the national team and also have players who are ready to be tested few off form players can play but it should be a mixture

Ashraful, Shahriar lined up for A team’s tour to SA (only for OD)

Quote:
Mohammad Ashraful and Shahriar Nafees are likely to join the Bangladesh A team for a tour of South Africa scheduled from April 7-29.

The Bangladesh A will play two four-day matches and four one-dayers during the three-week long trip.

Selectors are working to form a team for the tour and it is almost certain that Ashraful and Shahriar will make the trip.

They are, however, unlikely to play the four-day matches which coincide with the three one-day international series against Australia, to be held in Dhaka from April 9-13.

Ashraful and Shahriar are expected to join the A team for the one-dayers after the series.

Ashraful played two matches at the World Cup and scored 12 runs while Shahriar scored 42 runs in as many matches.

Alok Kapali, Shamsur Rahman Shuvo, Marshal Ayub, Subhagota Hom, Nazimuddin, Dollar Mahmud, Syed Rasel, Fazle Rabbi, Sahagir Hossain, Saqlain Sajib, Nur Hossain and Robiul Islam can make the A team, among others.

Fixtures

April 07-10: Four-Day Match at Senwes Park, Potchefstroom

April 13-16: Four- Day Match at Pietermaritzburg

April 19: One-Day Tour Match at Buffalo Park

April 21: One-Day Tour Match at Boland Park

April 23: One-Day Tour Match at Beers, Kimberley

April 27: One-Day Tour Match at Senwes Park, Potchefstroom

Mr. Nahaz,
"One day side: I would bring in Mashrafee Mortaza for Saqlain Sajib and Faisal Hossain for one of Talha and Robiul. Elias Sunny can bat pretty well and also is a very good spinner. Mashrafee clearly needs some game time. "

Are you out of your mind? I think in that case, we should send our whole national team including Shakib/Tamim/Mushfiq because all of them needs to play fast bowling.

i also think Talha should make the A team, we could use depth at pacer positions.
