2012 World T20 Qualification

The road for 2012 WT20 Qualification has started. A total of 102 Teams will take part in WT20 or through the qualification.

The 2012 WT20 will have 16 teams. 10 test nations and 6 Qualification spots.

In 2012 a qualifying tournament will take place for the 6 spots on grabs. A total of 16 teams will be taking part in the qualifying tournament. Like FIFA the spots have been reserved region wise

ODI Status Nations-6 (Afg, Can, Ire, Ken, Neth & Scot)
Asia:- 3
Europe:- 2
Africa:- 2
Americas:- 2
EAP:- 1

The various tournament to reach these spots are as follows

ASIA
2009-10 (Various hosts):- ACC tournaments in Senior, U-19, U-15 to determine ACC rankings. Teams eliminated based on ranking:- China, Brunei, Singapore, Qatar, Iran, Bahrain, Myanmar & Thailand

ACC T20 (Nov, Nepal) :- Afghanistan, Nepal, UAE, Oman, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Bhutan, Kuwait, Maldives, Saudi Arabia
The top 3 teams besides Afghanistan will qualify for the WT20Q

AFRICA
ICC Africa Division 3 (Feb, Ghana):- Cameroon, Gambia, Lesotho, Mali, Morocco, Rwanda, Seychelles.
It was won by Rwanda defeating Seychelles and qualifying for Africa Div 2

ICC Africa Division 2 (Apr, SA):- Zambia, Ghana, Malawi, Mozambique, Sierra Leone, Swaziland, Tanzania, Nigeria, Botswana, Winner Africa Div 3(Rwanda)

ICC Africa (Premier League) (Jul, Ken):- Kenya, Uganda, Namibia, South Africa Emerging, Zimbabwe Emerging, Winner from ICC Africa Division 2
The 2 teams ranked highest besides SA, Zim & Ken will qualify for the qualifier

AMERICAS:-
ICC Americas Division 3 (Mar, Costa Rica):- Belize, Chile, Peru, Mexico,Costa Rica, Falkland Islands
Belize defeated Peru to reach Americas Div 2

ICC Americas Division 2 (Apr, Suriname):- Bahamas, Belize (Winner Americas Div 3), Brazil, Panama, Suriname, Turks and Caicos Islands
Suriname Defeated Panama to qualify for Americas Div 1 & WCL Div 8.

ICC America Division 1 (Jul, Canada):- Argentina, Bermuda, Canada, Cayman Islands, USA, Winner Americas Div 2(Suriname)
Top 2 teams besides Canada will qualify for the WT20Q

EUROPE
ICC Europe Division 3 (May, Slovenia):- Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Estonia, Slovenia, Sweden, Turkey

ICC Europe Division 2 (Jun, Belgium):- Austria, Belgium, Cyprus, Finland, Hellas, Isle of Man, Luxembourg, Malta, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland, winner of ICC Europe Division 3

ICC Europe Division 1 (Jul, Jersey/Guernsey):- Croatia, Denmark, France, Germany, Gibraltar, Guernsey, Israel, Italy, Jersey, Norway, Spain, Winner from ICC Europe Division 2

EAP
ICC EAP Division 2 (Apr, Samoa):- Indonesia, Samoa, Tonga, Cook Islands, Philippines, South Korea
Samoa defeated new comers Philippines to qualify for EAP Div 1 and WCL Div 8

ICC EAP Division 1 (Jul, PNG):- PNG, Fiji, Japan, Vanuatu, Winner EAP Div 2(Samoa)

Automatic Qualification:-
God nations :@ AKA Test Nations:- Aus, BD, Eng, Ind, NZ, Pak, SA, SL, WI & Zim

i think the ODI world cup should also undergo a similar qualification round worldwide.

only difference is in t20 it is 10+6=16

in ODI it should be 10+2=12

hope ICC changes their minds and makes the real world cup 12 teams. they can keep this one to 16 or even 20 teams.

My guess is that Ireland, Netherlands, Afghanistan, UAE, maybe Canada and Nepal may qualify.
