The Spinner Who Went into the Cold…

An excellent interview! Wish him all the best in Guisborough in Yorkshire and SDPL. I think our own Shamim Chowdhury was born in Yorkshire?
Or not.
I wonder what kind of 'socialization' he will be doing. Didn't quite take him for a party dude.

I would take anyone over Razzak in tests anyday.
Its hard to understand our selector's philosophy of cricket. Back in the days they thought two spinners were too many for test matches, so Rafique had to make way for Enamul. Now they are playing 3-4 players in a test but not giving any chance to a match winning spinner who they labelled 'test specialist'.

we need him back. if not now, at least within a year or two. hope a county team picks him up. if not, playing in england is something still. he is a confident player, and mature too. he can be a huge asset for our test bowling. he is a classic left arm spinner, and we should provide him with every opportunity to guide him back to the national team.

It is good to let Shakib off captaincy, it will relieve some pressure. He will be offered captaincy again in a few years when he will be more than ready, Bangladesh will voyage into a new horizon then

I don't think it's anything to be concerned about.
It doesn't translate that well, but what I think he meant was that in Bangladesh there isn't as much of a "cricket culture" as there is in England. You know the sort of thing, tea and cucumber sandwiches. Playing in England he feels gives him a better understanding of these things.
By the sounds of things there are lots of club events he has to attend (possibly in formal dinner wear?) and there's not much of that in BD...

Bangladesh need to employ a format based XI's. Razzak is a ODI + T20 specialist, Enamul is Test. Simple.

He seems like a very mature cricketer and a hard worker. He's got tough competition in ODIs but in tests he should be a regular. He should be on the next A team tour so we could see how good he does. I thought that he brought up something important about Indian domestic cricket. They play a lot of matches on green sporting wickets which help the pacers. We really need that in our cricket if we want to become better. We need to churn in more fast bowlers and batsmen with better technical ability towards pace. Also he said that it was like playing a test match. Shows how strong their system is. Our national team guys should go over there since it's very hard to get in to a county side in England. I'm sure they would like to have some of our players.

We knock BCCI all the time - we should give them credit for having systematically worked at reducing India's pace problems. Be it the MRF Pace academy or making domestic matches happen on sporty pitches, the rewards are being reaped in form of the #1 ranking.

Agreed. I'm not a fan of India but have to give them credit. Their last performance against SA in tests were very impressive especially. We all made fun of them after the 1st match but to their credit, they bounced right back to tie the series. SA pitches are very hard to bat on but they batted and bowled well. The #1 ranking hasn't happened accidentally. They identified their weaknesses and made sure to correct them.
