Oh come on! BEXIMCO is spending 350 Million for One friendly soccer match!
Corporate houses have money. I saw a house in Gulshan and the asking price was 1000 Million Taka. And that was just a one bigha house. Ona Katha in Gulshan is as high as 35 Million Taka. You guys need to visit Dhaka. It is becoming like Bombay...

800 M Taka is too less. As already said this league could fetch 13 to 55 M$ which if I am not wrong is around 1100 to 4700 M Taka
So if they are talking Taka's they are undervaluing it from 72% to 17%. Meanwhile I am wondering which currency are they talking about :P

Is this right? Does IPL really worth more than EPL and Premiera Leaga? I thought some footballers' transfer fee is more than the value of some IPL franchises. Or is it similar to some Indians' belief that amitabh bacchan is the most popular actor in the world? Or is it just another Kaaler Kontho BS?

Considering the time IPL runs is 6 weeks to EPL which runs over months, that is the base of calculations. And IPL in worth more than EPL can be no surprise. Cricket in South Asia is really big

I stopped reading the article after the first line. No way IPL is the second richest sports league in the world. And what the hell is NBL? Even if they meant NBA, it's still wrong. NBA is not the richest sports league either. Here are the top 5 sports leagues: 1. NFL 2. MLB 3. NBA 4. Premier League 5. NHL

I was startled as well. But do you know how much Manchester United is worth? 1.55 Billion and Pune Warrior was bought by a staggering 370 Million in the auction and the estimated value of the franchise is a billion. And only the top NFL/MLB/NBA teams are worth over a billion.
So despite sounding preposterous, this might actually be true. Someone who has done extensive research might be able to give you a proper explanation.

Dont under estimate the value of IPL, although the story came from KAler Kantha...
Indian IPL Teams Now Worth More than English Premier League Clubs
Mar. 23 – With news that the two new franchise owners of the Pune and Kochi India Premier League (IPL) cricket teams acquired the rights to the teams for US$370 million and US$320 million, respectively, the time is right to look at India as an advertising market and examine its inherent wealth.
To compare with the Pune and Kochi teams, take a look at the English Premiership clubs acquired in recent years:
Chelsea (2003 takeover): US$190 million
Manchester United (2005 takeover): US$1.4 billion
Liverpool (2007 takeover): US$340 million
Manchester City (2008 takeover): US$300 million

I did some quick search and according the following article, Kaler Kantha report is correct.
IPL is indeed valued around 4 Billion Dollars:

Well, this is also die to today's financial climate. IMO, once the recession ends then they will be worth more.

উনারা সাংগঠনিক দিক দেখবেন। উনাদের সাংগঠনিক দক্ষতা যে কত টুকু তা আমাদের ঢেড় বুঝা আছে।

Thanks for the figure. I think many of us undermine the power of IPL. This is a huge thing, and will do cricket lots of good in the future.
However, after this IPL many experts said that IPL has reached it's pinnacle and will be very hard to grow any more. Which I think is a valid point, though I can see IPL breaking international boundaries and maybe opening a franchisee in Sri Lanka, Bangladesh in the near future. That way they will gain access to another 1.5Billion $!

Same type of tournaments are organised in every country like IPL such as Big Bash, SLPL, BPL. For lot of same cricket people will lose their interest. After few years it will fall its popularity.
