I think you'd just add 1 to the double century column. Otherwise you could argue that whenever someone scores a 100 it should also be counted as a fifty. I guess that's why only centuries and half centuries are counted. Anything above a century is still one century.

The logo would have been much cleaner if it was Photoshopped. But we cant complain. It looks pretty dam good, nonetheless.

ঢাকা: বাংলাদেশ প্রিমিয়ার লিগ (বিপিএল) এ খেলবেন ক্রিস গেইল। টি-টোয়েন্টি ক্রিকেটের এই ফেরিওয়ালাকে কয়েকটি ম্যাচের জন্য পাওয়া যাবে বিপিএল’য়ে।

বিপিএল গভর্নিংবডির চেয়ারম্যান গাজী আশরাফ হোসেন লিপু শুক্রবার বাংলানিউজকে জানান,‘গেইলকে পুরো টুর্নামেন্টে না পাওয়ার কারণ হলো সে দক্ষিণ আফ্রিকায় টি-টোয়েন্টি টুর্নামেন্টে খেলতে যাবে। যেহেতু আমাদের এখানে আগে খেলা তাই কয়েকটি ম্যাচ খেলতে সে রাজি হয়েছে।’

ওয়েস্ট ইন্ডিজের হয়ে খেলার চেয়ে বাণিজ্যিক টি-টোয়েন্টিতে নিজের খেলা ফেরি করে বেশি লাভবান হচ্ছেন গেইল। যেখানে ডাক পাচ্ছেন ডলারের গন্ধে ছুটে যাচ্ছেন সেখানে। ভারতের আইপিএল, অস্ট্রেলিয়ার বিগব্যাশ, দক্ষিণ আফ্রিকার টি-টোয়েন্টির পরে ডলারের হাতছানি তাকে টেনে নিয়ে আসছে বাংলাদেশেও।

শুক্রবার কর্পোরেট নাইট শেষে লিপু জানান, ৫ জানুয়ারির পরিবর্তে ১০ জানুয়ারি ফ্রাঞ্চাইজ টিম নিলাম হবে। তিনি বলেন,‘কর্পোরেট ব্যবসায়ীরা মনে করেন অনেক টাকা বিনিয়োগের বিষয় এখানে। তাই একটু সময় নিয়ে এগোতে চান তারা। সেজন্য পাঁচদিন পিছিয়ে হচ্ছে ফ্রেঞ্চাইজ নিলাম।’

শনিবার থেকেই বিসিবি কার্যালয়ে দরপত্রে অংশ নিতে পারবে আগ্রহী ব্যবসায়ীরা। এজন্য বিসিবি থেকে নির্দিষ্ট সংগ্রহ করতে হবে তাদেরকে।

এরই মধ্যে চারটি বড় প্রতিষ্ঠান ফ্রেঞ্চাইজ দল কিনতে আগ্রহ দেখিয়েছে বলে জানান লিপু।

Bids for BPL franchises deferred

The bidding date for the six franchises of the upcoming Bangladesh Premier League Twenty20 competition has been deferred by five days as several companies are asking for time to understand its prospect, said the BCB officials on Friday.

The tender, which was scheduled to be held on January 5, will now be received January 10. The franchise-based T20 competition will begin on February 9.

‘We have decided to defer the date of bidding at the request of several companies,’ Anjan Ganguly, director of Game On Sports, the event management company of BPL, which won the right to hold the event for six years.

‘I think they want to understand the viability of the project and so they are asking for time. Several companies of Dubai and India are showing interest, that is really a good sign for the tournament,’ said Anjan.

The players’ auction scheduled for February 14 at Cox Bazar might also be changed though no decision has been taken yet by the BPL authority.

Not necessarily the captain, presumed to be the most valuable player of the side. This is done so that all the best aren't taken by one team, then the league will lose the competitive capacity. Jut an effort to make an even distribution of better players, I guess.

That's a lot of money for Loita and Tutul. I say, let them take 1% each and share another 8% with other BCB officials, Sheikh Hasina, Ministers and their drivers, kajer buas. If at least 90% is re-invested in our cricket that would be a huge boost.

Like the way you thought mate. They will definitely walk in this way but in quite opposite approach, which is 90% in their pocket and just about 10% for cricket development.

The Icon player crap was a mistake in the IPL. You had players like Dravid and Laxman who ended up with massive salaries even though they weren't regulars in their teams just because of their Icon status. Same I feel will be repeated here especially in the case of Ash and Nafees. BCB is making a carbon copy of the IPL instead of improving on the logistics. But I guess nothing better can be expected.
