It's not "Maruf", it's "Maharoof". I've also seen his first name spelled "Parvez" in Bangladeshi dailies in the past.

^ Asif bhai.. the name Maruf (pronounced as Ma'ruf) come from the Arabic language. I have noticed it in many places in Qur'an. I guess there are different ways of spelling it in different languages. But IMHO, Maruf or Ma'ruf comes as close spelling it properly.

Back to Mohamed Farveez Maharoof, he probably chose to spell it this way. And I don't think that's wrong either.

Names can be spelled in any way, although spelling it in certain way might make more sense. How Maharoof chose to spell his name is his (or his parents') business.

বাংলাদেশ প্রিমিয়ার লিগের (বিপিএল) জমজমাট আয়োজনের জোর চেষ্টা চলছে। সে সম্পর্কে যতটা এগিয়েছে বাংলাদেশ ক্রিকেট বোর্ড (বিসিবি) সংবাদ সম্মেলনে তার একটা চিত্র তুলে ধরার চেষ্টা করলেন বিপিএল গভর্নিং কাউন্সিলের কার্মকর্তারা।

বিপিএল গভর্নিং কাউন্সিলের সদস্য সচিব সিরাজউদ্দিন মোহাম্মদ আলমগীর জানিয়েছেন যথা সময়ে মহাধুমধামেই টি-টোয়েন্টি ক্রিকেট হবে। বিদেশি ক্রিকেটার পাওয়ার বিষয়ে যে শঙ্কা ছিলো সেখানে অনেক অগ্রগতি আছে। বৃহস্পতিবার শেষ খবর পর্যন্ত ১২৩ জন বিদেশি ক্রিকেটার প্রাক নিলামের জন্য চুক্তিবদ্ধ হয়েছেন।

প্রতিযোগিতার ব্যবস্থাপনার দায়িত্বে থাকা ইভেন্ট ম্যানেজমেন্ট প্রতিষ্ঠান গেম অন স্পোর্টস ম্যানেজমেন্টের ব্যবস্থাপনা পরিচালক অঞ্জন গাঙ্গুলী সংবাদ সম্মেলনে জানান, ১৪ নভেম্বরের নিলামে ১৬০ জন ক্রিকেটারকে তোলা হবে। যারমধ্যে দেশের ৮০ জন ক্রিকেটার থাকবে। বাকি ৮০ জন বিদেশি ক্রিকেটার এবং তাদের মধ্য থেকে একটি দল নয়জন করে খেলোয়াড় কিনতে পারবে। খেলাতে পারবে পাঁচ জন করে।

‘এ’ গ্রেডে থাকা বিদেশি ক্রিকেটারের ন্যূনতম সম্মানী নির্ধারণ করা হয়েছে এক লাখ মার্কিন ডলার। ‘বি’ গ্রেডের খেলোয়াড়দের ন্যূনতম পারিশ্রমিক ৫০ হাজার ডলার, ‘সি’ গ্রেডের জন্য ২৫ হাজার ডলার করে।

সংবাদ সম্মেলনে অঞ্জন গাঙ্গুলী বলেন, একটি দলকে প্রথম বছরের জন্য ২৫ লাখ ডলার খরচ করতে হবে। প্রথম বছর ক্লাবগুলোকে আবাসন এবং স্থানীয় যাতায়াত সুবিধা দেওয়া হবে।

যদিও বৃহস্পতিবার পর্যন্ত মাত্র সাতটি কর্পোরেট হাউজ ফ্রেঞ্জচাইজ দল কিনতে আগ্রহ দেখিয়েছে। গাঙ্গুলী আশা করেন আরও বেশি সংখ্যক প্রতিষ্ঠান নিলামে অংশ নেবে। তিনি জানান, শাহরুখ খানের প্রোগ্রাম আয়োজনে সম্পৃক্ত স্থানীয় এজেন্ট বিপিএল সম্পর্কে তথ্য চেয়েছে। কিং খান বিপিএল’র দল কিনবে কি না সে সম্পর্কে কিছু জানাতে পারেননি।

বিপিএল গভর্নিং কাউন্সিলের সদস্য সচিব সিরাজউদ্দিন মোহাম্মদ আলমগীর বাংলানিউজকে মোবাইলফোনে জানান,‘ভারতের বিদ্যমান আইন এবং বাংলাদেশের আইন সংশোধন করে কেকেআর (শাহরুখ খান) বিপিএল’র দল কিনতে পারবে বলে আমি বিশ্বাস করি না। যদি তেমন কিছু হয় তা হবে অলৌকিক (মিরাকল) ঘটনা।’

এ সম্পর্কে গেম অন স্পোর্টস ম্যানেজমেন্টের ব্যবস্থাপনা পরিচালক অঞ্জন গাঙ্গুলী বলেন,‘শাহরুখ খান বিপিএল’র দল কিনতে রাজি হয়েছেন, যদি কেউ এ কথা বলে থাকেন ভুল বলেছেন। শাহরুখ খান বিপিএল সম্পর্কে তথ্য পেয়েছেন, তারমানে এই নয় যে তিনি দল কিনতে রাজি হয়েছেন। যদি কেউ এটা প্রচার করতে চায় নিজের দায়িত্বে করবে। আমরা তার দায়-দায়িত্ব নিবো না।’

Ian, I will try my best. I will be just writing the summary because a lot of the infos are repetitive

160 players up for auction in BPL

1. There have been few improvements in getting the foreign players. Until now, 123 foreign players signed up.
2. Total of 160 players will be put into the auction. 80 domestic and 80 foreign.
3. There will be 3 grades of players. "A" grade will have minimum value of $100k, "B" grade $50k and "C" grade $25k.
4. A franchise has to spend $2.5 million overall in the first year. The event management company will cover the residence and commuting for all the franchises only for the first year.
5. So far only 7 companies has expressed interest to buy franchises. Officials expect the number will rise soon.
6. There has been a rumor that Bollywood superstar Shahrukh Khan (current owner of IPL KKR) will buy a franchise in BPL. But officials have denied any possibilities.

It is appreciated to wear trousers above ankel according to islamic rituals. i am glad he didnt gave up his practice in the act of mordenisation.
