Default Nucleus of a Team emerges

From this series, I can begin to see the nucleus of a team:

Tamim

Mushfiq [ not for me Nazim; I know he has hit a 78. But give him time, he is no better than another Imrul ]

Nafees

Mahmudullah [ I am glad they have finally seen the light; probably Law saw it . Also, post Shakib, have proved a good bowler. Ramiz was saying that in the Pak dressing room they were reasonably impressed with him. Gave Taufiq a torrid time ]

Nasir. [ Should not overlook his bowling capabilities including partnership breaking type medium pace ]

Shakib

Dhiman

Naeem / Farhad [ Here I am in a bit of a quandary. For lack of any specialism, I can choose either to strengthen the batting / bowling. I like Farhad's fighting qualities ]
Farhad also does the job of another 125kph medium pacer. Why waste a space with Shahadat or Robiul.

Elias

Nazmul [ Very impressed. If you are going to bowl at 125kph, might as well be accurate. He is certainly better than most ]

Rubel

Mushfiq and Nafees can switch around. Mushfiq should not be given the gloves in a test. ODi's are OK provided we can get another batsman to replace Dhiman.

Momin can be in the wings.

there's just no point batting naeem down there and i wouldn't want to expose mushy up that high in the order, riyad is fighting for his spot imo atm despite being VC and nafees is always near the chop.

nucleus is clearly tamim, shakib, mushy and nasir. rubel is there in one-dayers, dhiman should be the keeper in tests for sure.

we need to find players for the 2nd opener spot, #3 and possibly riyads spot. now i'd say it's between naeem, shuavagoto, anamul, asif and mominul for those spots.

as far as pacers go i think nazmul and rubel are up there atm as our best, not sure if we have any decent pacers in domestics, i know a couple performed well this NCL.

where you have naeem i'd get a good bowling allrounder, alauddin is probasbly the best pacer allrounder, or farhad and they're not up to it so it's down to spin allrounders. so you have sabbir, mahmudul, shaker or nur i think. sabbir doesn't warrant it at this point, shaker is barely bowling these days and isn't doing that great with the bat. i think mahmudul and bur have been the better bowlers out of this bunch so one of them, maybe pick nur for the leg spin option? we already have nasir and riyad for offies.

I agree we have seen a good team emerge from this series. Pakistan should now go on and do well.

Im sorry but one 97 after how long does not put you on the nucleous of the team. Why are we so 'easy'?

you included dhiman as part of the nucluous? he is not even considered for the A team by bcb. he missed the chance of his life after that aust tour. he did quite well as a debutant and would be an auto choice for next national assignment.

Yea I agree, but if bd cricket went by that logic, no one would be in the nucleus except for Shakib. We can only choose from the best of what we've got.

I was thinking about the squad for the Asia Cup and it seems it'll be pretty much the same team except Farhad's gonna have to make way for Mash. The other players that should be worrying about their spots is Alok, Naeem, and Imrul. I think Mominul is all set to make his national team debut. Of course it depends on his performance in the upcoming A team tour. I think he would come in for Alok. There's a good chance Nazim will replace Imrul at opener. Anamul and Asif have an outside chance but their going to have to perform in the upcoming DPL.

if asif or anamul perform in the DPL then they should get a chance, the natioanl team really needs to find long term solutions for the #2 and #3 spots in both ODIs and tests. mominul would be a great addition to the team presuming he performs of course.

i've resigned to the fact that naeem should probably now focus on his test match game. his spinners are handy but he's going to have to out perform riyad or nasir to get a ODI spot, in tests his bowling isn't needed so he has to force his way as a top 4 batsman and i reckon he's probably competing with riyad for a test spot unless he bats at 2 or 3.

alok shouldn't be in the squads for one dayers or tests and t20s well tbh it doesn't really matter who you pick so may as well test out the youngsters and give them some experience.

imrul has been in rough form, if he proves he has regained form then he might get his ODI spot back but otherwise no point of having him in the squad.
