নাসির হোসেন

রাতের ঘুম খুব ভালো হয়েছে। তবে যেভাবে একটার পর একটা ফোন আসছিল, ঘুমানো কঠিনই ছিল। ফোনটা সাইলেন্ট করে ঘুমিয়েছিলেন বলে রক্ষা। প্রথম সেঞ্চুরির রাতটা আরামেই কাটল নাসির হোসেনের।

বন্ধুরা অভিনন্দন জানাতে ফোন করছিল। রংপুর থেকে মা-বাবা ফোন করে আবেগে ভেসে গেলেন। স্বপ্ন ছিল, ছেলে ক্রিকেটার হবে, ছেলের খেলা টেলিভিশনে দেখবেন। সবই সত্যি হয়ে যাওয়ার পর আদরের সেই ছোট ছেলে সেঞ্চুরিও করে ফেলল। আবেগে ভাসার রাতই তো ছিল এটি!

রংপুর শহরের দেওয়ানবাড়ী এলাকায় নাসিরদের বাসা। পরশু এলাকার অনেক মানুষ এ বাসায় বসেই দেখলেন নাসিরের সেঞ্চুরি। বাবা দৌড়ে গিয়ে মিষ্টি নিয়ে এলেন। দুর্ভাগ্য ভদ্রলোকের। ওয়েস্ট ইন্ডিজ সিরিজে সপরিবারে ঢাকায় এসে ছেলের খেলা দেখে গেলেও এবার আসা হয়নি। শেরেবাংলা স্টেডিয়ামের গ্যালারিতে নাসিরের সেঞ্চুরিটা স্বচক্ষে দেখতে পারলেন কেবল তাঁর বড় দুই ভাই ও এক চাচা। মা-বাবা, বড় আরেক ভাই আর ছোট বোন দেখেছেন টেলিভিশনে।

রাতে মায়ের ফোন পেলেন নাসির। মাতৃস্নেহে কেঁপে কেঁপে উঠছিল মায়ের গলা। সন্তানের গৌরব আবেগের জল নিয়ে আসছিল চোখে। কিন্তু ক্রিকেট এবং ক্রিকেটের বাইরের নাসির কোনো কিছুতেই ‘সিরিয়াস’ না হওয়া এক চরিত্র। ফোনের অপর প্রান্তে মায়ের কম্পিত কণ্ঠ শুনেই কেটে দিলেন ফোন, ‘আম্মার অনেক দিনের ইচ্ছা আমাকে টিভিতে দেখবে, আমি ভালো খেলব। কিন্তু ফোনে ওনার কথা শুনে বুঝলাম কান্না-কান্না ভাব। ব্যস্ত আছি বলে তাড়াতাড়ি ফোন রেখে দিয়েছি। নইলে কেঁদেই দিত। এ ধরনের পরিস্থিতিতে আমার আবার হাসি চলে আসে...।’

তা একটার পর একটা নতুন পরিস্থিতিই সামনে চলে আসছে নাসিরের। জাতীয় দলে ডাক পেলেন, ভালো খেলছেন, পরশু প্রথম সেঞ্চুরিটাও হয়ে গেল। হাতে ম্যান অব দ্য ম্যাচের পুরস্কার। বিসিবি সভাপতির পক্ষ থেকে আরও দুই লাখ টাকা প্রদানের ঘোষণা। কেমন লাগছে এখন?

প্রশ্নটা নাসিরকে করে অন্তত লাভ নেই। পারলে ‘কিছুই লাগছে না’-ই বলে দেন তিনি, ‘আমি আসলে এখনো বুঝতে পারছি না। কেমন যে লাগছে বা কেমন লাগা উচিত...(হাসি)।’ তবে সেঞ্চুরি করার সময়টাতে বা তার আগের ব্যাটিং দারুণ উপভোগ্য ছিল তাঁর কাছে, ‘ওই রকম পরিস্থিতিতে ব্যাটিং করতেই বেশি ভালো লাগে। ধরেন, ৪-৫টা উইকেট পড়ে গেল খুব তাড়াতাড়ি...আমার ওপর অনেক চাপ। কেন জানি না, যেকোনো পর্যায়ের ক্রিকেটেই এই সময়ে ব্যাটিংটা বেশি উপভোগ করি। এ রকম পরিস্থিতিতে আমার অনেক ভালো ইনিংস আছে।’

কিছু বোঝা যাচ্ছে? নাসিরের ব্যাপার-স্যাপার বুঝি সবই উল্টো! যে সময়ে ব্যাটিং করতে নামলে বেশির ভাগ ব্যাটসম্যানের মুখ শুকিয়ে যায়, সেটাই নাকি ব্যাটিংয়ের জন্য তাঁর পছন্দের সময়! না, না, চাপ নাসিরের ওপরও থাকে। কিন্তু ওই চাপটাই তাঁর কাছে রোমাঞ্চ, ‘ওই যে বলে বলে রান করতে হবে, স্কোর বোর্ডের দিকে বারবার তাকাতে হবে—ওই রোমাঞ্চ ভালো লাগে আমার। ছোটবেলা থেকেই এই খেলাটা পছন্দ করি।’

কিন্তু খেলার মাঠে গিয়ে ‘সংগীতচর্চা’, উইকেটে ব্যাট হাতে দাঁড়িয়ে শিস বাজানো, চাপের লক্ষণ তো নয়! পাকিস্তানের বিপক্ষে দ্বিতীয় ওয়ানডের কথাই শুনুন। ও রকম পরিস্থিতিতেও নাকি মাঠে লাউড স্পিকারে গান শুনে নাচের তাল এসে যাচ্ছিল শরীরে, ‘খেলাধুলা বা যেকোনো কিছুতেই আমি দুষ্টুমিটা একটু বেশি করি। এর মধ্যেই থাকি সব সময়। দূর থেকে খেয়াল করেছেন কি না, কাল (পরশু) ব্যাটিং করার সময়ও গানের সঙ্গে সঙ্গে শরীর দুলাচ্ছিলাম। মাঠের মধ্যে গান গাচ্ছিলাম। ব্যাটিংয়ের সময় শিস-টিসও দিচ্ছিলাম।’ এই হলেন নাসির হোসেন, যাঁকে নাকি এখনো তিনি নিজেই ঠিকভাবে চেনেন না, ‘হা হা হা...আমি আসলে একটু অন্য টাইপের। আমি যে কেমন, নিজেও জানি না...।’

টি-টোয়েন্টি ও প্রথম ওয়ানডের ব্যর্থতার পর দ্বিতীয় ওয়ানডের ব্যাটিংও প্রায় লজ্জায় ডুবিয়ে দিচ্ছিল। নাসিরের সেঞ্চুরিই বাঁচাল সে লজ্জা থেকে। ম্যাচ হারার ভয় নেই বুঝতে পেরে সেদিন পাকিস্তানি খেলোয়াড়েরাও পাশে ছিলেন বাংলাদেশের ২০ বছর বয়সী এই তরুণের, ‘ইউনুস ভাই এসে বললেন, এক শ করার চেষ্টা কর। আমি স্কোর বোর্ডের দিকে তাকিয়ে বললাম, ঠিক আছে করব।’

অনূর্ধ্ব-১৯ ক্রিকেটে খেলার সময় বন্ধু হয়ে যাওয়া উমর আকমলও দিয়েছেন একই উৎসাহ। তবে সেটার মধ্যে আকমলের নিজেরও একটা স্বার্থ ছিল বোধ হয়। নাসিরকে নাকি বারবার বলছিলেন, ‘আফ্রিদিকে মাথা গরম করে খেলো না। ও উইকেট পেয়ে যাবে, ম্যান অব দ্য ম্যাচ হয়ে যাবে। ও না হলে আমার চান্স আছে ম্যান অব দ্য ম্যাচ হওয়ার।’

না, আফ্রিদিকে উইকেট দেননি নাসির। তবে তাতে উমর আকমলেরও ভাগ্য খোলেনি। ম্যান অব দ্য ম্যাচ হয়ে গেলেন নাসির নিজেই। জন্মদিনের তিন দিন পরে হলেও পেলেন জন্মদিনের সেরা উপহার।

প্রথম দুই ওয়ানডে থেকে বাংলাদেশের একমাত্র প্রাপ্তি বলা যায় নাসির হোসেনের সেঞ্চুরিটিকেই। বিরুদ্ধ স্রোতে দাঁড়িয়ে দারুণ এক ইনিংস খেলেছেন তরুণ অলরাউন্ডার, একাই করেছেন দলের ৫৩.৮৬ শতাংশ রান।

তবে পরিসংখ্যানের দৃষ্টিকোণ থেকে অন্তত বাংলাদেশের হয়ে একক লড়াইয়ের এর চেয়েও বড় কীর্তি আছে আরেকটি। গত বছর ফেব্রুয়ারিতে ইংল্যান্ডের বিপক্ষে এই মিরপুরেই বাংলাদেশের ২২৮ রানের ১২৫ এসেছিল তামিম ইকবালের ব্যাট থেকে, শতকরা হিসেবে যা ছিল দলের রানের ৫৪.২৮ ভাগ।

বিশ্ব রেকর্ডটি ২৭ বছর ধরেই একজনের দখলে এবং তাঁর নামের পাশেই তা সবচেয়ে ভালো মানায়। ১৯৮৪ সালে ম্যানচেস্টারে সে সময়ের সর্বোচ্চ ১৮৯ রানের ইনিংসটির পাশাপাশি দলের রানে সবচেয়ে বেশি অবদানের রেকর্ডটিও গড়েছিলেন ভিভ রিচার্ডস। ১০২ রানে ৭ উইকেট হারানো দলকে ৫৫ ওভার শেষে পৌঁছে দিয়েছিলেন ২৭২ রানে। একাই করেছিলেন দলের রানের ৬৯.৪৮ শতাংশ!

someone who are worried about his origin, likely always try to find others origin.
this kind of attitude is regrettable. because this kind of people always try to divide
the team by race, color etc.
all players are from bangladesh. we are not supporting players according to their
origin, color or relegion.
moderators should caution this type of member.

it's just curiosity.I liked his batting like any1 else.Moreover,I am a relative new member of BC.I remember in BC,before WC tamim's origin was discussed when he went to Pak.I think I didnt break any rule.

Why doesn't Nasir bowls from Round the wicket against RH batsman? thats the only thing i dont like about him. He should come round the wk against RH batsman just like Hafeez. I'm sure he will pick up more wickets if he does as his control over the line and length is pretty gd. His arm bowl will be deadly too just like shahkib

I've retired from being emotionally vested. I didn't watch a single delivery, simply checked the progress(or lack there of ) on cricinfo and here every hour or so. So I'll comment on individuals and the cricket in general, but no rage or angst at yet another serving of FAIL.

it must be hard for nasir to find the motivation to score runs when he's batting so low down the order and no one else has scored any runs. basically ever since he's come into the national team the rest of the batsmen have been performing really badly. wonder how nasir would be performing if they were doing well also? would it lift him or does the lack of runs scored by the others drive him to score more?

If Nasir quickly learns how to adapt he will be useful. He plays like many of our other bastmen as well. Lots of pre-meditated shots, batting away from body, not much footwork. He is surviving because he is young, has nice reflex now and good eye sight. He can adjust quickly now at the last moment. Unfortunately all these will start to wear out when his age comes close to 25 or over. If Nasir can learn to to adapt his batting he will survive, otherwise not much hope. Ash started and now he almost never performs, most of our batsmen with the 'natural' talent will go as far as their physical ability and agility takes them. After certain age these will diminish and bastmen will have to adjust accordingly.

So problem for our batsmen is

- there is no moving forward from the 'natural' talent. Natural talent will not take you for ever.

- There is no learning from mistakes. Once Nasir is analyzed by other bowlers he will be in tight spot unless he learns and adapts.
