MH Rubel, I agree with you, right now it seems as though Law has instilled some seriousness in our batters. But it's still early days.
I hope all the remaining batsmen get a decent score. But from the look of things, Naeem will play a Raqibul type innings. I I think the debutants, Nasir and Sunny (who is a decent batter) could suprise us all by getting some runs tomorrow too...

Tommorow's 1st session is very critical ! If we don't loose any wicket in that period we will go for a big total. If Shakib was still there I would bet for 400 +

Good point Holden. Our players poor in handling the new ball.Naeem was very shakey against the new ball.So its for sure 1st hour will decide the course of whole day.

It's going to be very tough for Mushy and Naeem in that first hour, both have had problems in the past with the swing of a new ball, however should they survive then they will have opportunities to score big. Rewards (both individual and for the team) are there for the taking they just need some patience, effort and a little bit of luck.

Very odd performance. I mean IDK whether to criticize or praise them. 255/4 looks like a decent Day 1 score to the eye. But really, it should have been 255/2 (with Nafees R/H). Tamim and Shakib both threw their wickets away. They were well set and on top of things. They were cruising, should have stayed on.
This score might look good now. But it will be very hard to push on from here on day 2. Once couple of wickets fall and expose new comers and tails. So if you dig deep into it, you shouldn't be too satisfied. 400+ was easily on the card. But Ramim is still there, and hopefully he gets a ton.

^well said man,it looks good for BD standard but we failed to capitalize.
TI,Rock and Sakib got 40+ none survived,if it was a good test side atleast one of these three would have scored a hundred.
now a lot depends on Mushy and co if they can take us to 380-400+ if not then we will regret the dismissal of these three well set players.

My guess is this will be the norm of the series, we will see plenty of 30s and 40s but not many 100s. Both teams will have the same problem. But in order to assert dominance and set the tone for the remaining 7 innings, Bangladesh must score another 150 runs at a minimum.
But what I am more interested in is seeing how long Bangladesh can bat, if we can bat till tea tomorrow, a draw from thereafter should be pretty much guaranteed.

and stayed Not out at the end of the day, along with Rahim. The scoreline would've been 300+ easily, at the end of the day.
Also if Rahim takes us past 380, we'll forgive and forget.

We should focus to stay on the wicket as long as possible. Expecting a century from Rahim.

I just hope the players don't set up a big target and create pressure on themselves, instead they should bat session by session setting small targets, like Mushy and Naeem thinking abt crossing 300 first then 350,380,400+.

Setting small targets will be better. They need to have a solid partnership before they can even think of scoring 320+

I hope we declare and not get a.o. That means we will get a good total.
They shouldnt worry about setting targets. Thats limiting yourself. Just bat on. Foget about the other fancy stuff.

the way we through our wickets away, i'll be happy with 350. but nothing less. SN should come back and covert his 21* to a fifty, if not 70+. i have full faith in Nasir, he's the real deal. Sunny as long as he gets 20-25 i'm happy. Rajib can score 12-15 on avg, 20 on a good pitch/day. Rubel anything is a bonus, but he too has a couple of strokes.

imrul kayes seems not doing well in test. in future, junaid or riad might replace him in opening position. riad is already guaranteed in middle order but i think we can keep the same team combo and promote riad in opening.

350 shouldnt be mighty task if we bat sensibly, less than 100 runs away, still have Mushy,Naeem,Khocha,Nasir,Kanchon and Shahrukh to come.

There will be hiccups,, and thinking we will have 500 plus runs is nearly impossible because we simply dont have that kind of players in Naeem, Nasir, Sunny who can score double tons.. we are at 250, not at 350 to expect scoring few hundred runs on 2nd day..However, I am expecting Mushfique to continue and Naeem to provide some support. Both Nasir and Sunny can bat pretty good actually..so they can add about 50 odd runs, if they can stick it out.
Net net, 350 is possible and that will surely force the match to 4th day for sure...unless there is a drammatic collapse by either side. WI will come back strongly with the new ball and their acclimation of the wicket tomorrow..

if bangladesh can somehow manage to score 360+ then we will be in a very good position and we need to stop the WI before 250 then we can win for sure unless our batters go bak to la la land in 2nd innings

Fun Trivia:
What was Bangladesh's score before the first ball was bowled on day -1?
