looks like we'll have to depend on pacers...bad news

Shahadat's stats in Mirpur is skewed due to that 6/27 exceptional performance on an uneven wicket back in 2008, other than that, I don't really see how pacers can pose that much of a threat here...

We should prepare a DRYish flat batting track, very good for batting on day 1, but deadly for spinners on Day5. there is a disadvantage with this theory, if you win toss, you should bat first, if you don't bat first then disadvantage to you....
Goals for Players:
Imrul: if he plays score at least one 50+ innings
Shahadat: take at least 3 wickets
Roquibul: Prove your class.
These three are IMHO, in danger of losing their spots, the rest are doing fine, about the rest: if any of them fail, their stock value will certainly decline, if any of them will shine, then their stock value will continue to rise.
Players to watch out for:
Nasir Hossain: He is hungry for runs, if he paces his innings correctly, inshaAllah we should see something exceptional from his bat soon.
Rubel Hossain: He is hungry for wickets, has been bowling decent recently, in solid form, inshaAllah he will be rewarded with key wickets in this match.

Bhai: That has been the historical problem of our batsmen. Thats why even ZIM batsman look better than ours because they stick to basic cricket and we cant learn....ours are always khocha-khochi without moving their feet or slogging,, very few times I have seen Bangladeshi batsmen being out with superb delivery by a bowler. The opposition bowlers of even Nepal knows that bowling outside the offstump will get BD batsman out !! For a team to win against BD, mostly it has been the opposition slip fielders being busy or long-off fielder doing their job... Be it Imrul, Tamim, Nafees, Ashraful, Shakib,, they all either did khocha-khochi or slogged when they got out!! And our late order of Shafiul, Rubel, Raj don't know the value of their wicket at all, they are mostly there to warm up for their bowling but never to play out the game Rafique, Mashud, Mashrafee, Tapash used to or Shahadat does!! my 2 cents

Players to Watch out for in the West Indies Brigade:
Shiv Chaunderpaul: He will be unhappy with the way he got out in Chittagong to a rookie spinner on debut, he is certainly due for a big score and hungry as usual.
Simmons: same as Shiv.
Bishoo: will look to continue to pose a threat to our batsmen.
Darren Sammy: Captain leading from the front with both bat and ball and smart bowling changes.
It should be a very interesting test for both teams with similar strength and weaknesses.
Success Prediction(based on paper strength): West Indies 60% Bangladesh 40%

about Elias Sunny:
agree with him when he was stated saying that he didn't bowl like the way he wanted too...but that's ok, his first match he was nervous. It doesn't matter, he bowled some great deliveries and got wickets, that's what counts. I believe he is capable of much better bowling than this.

I disagree with Shahadat in danger of losing his spot. He's the only pacer that we have who has multiple 5fers in our team. We saw how badly we missed him when we played against Zimbabwe. The bottom line is we lack wicket takers and can't really afford to drop any wicket taking bowlers. True Shahadat is very inconsistent but once he's on song, he can turn deadly.

Agreed. It's a huge problem for us. Our batsmen just have a tough time staying at the wicket. That's why I was happy when Naeem played that knock even though many here did not like his intent. True he could've been more positive but the bottom line is that we need batsman that are glued there. Rokibul and Mushy are also batsmen who hold on to their wickets fairly well. Hopefully the others do well by holding on to their wickets.

Some of the best batting I've seen by a Bangladesh batsman was Shahadat at Hamilton, when he was batting in Shakib's Charge before lunch on the fifth day. It was a resolute display of not getting out and letting Sakib score the runs, and it worked beautifully.
We dont need a team of Javed Omars, but more of them would be nice, thank you very much.

Can someone look up what the average Imrul/Tanim opening partnership is, and how that compares with that of various other countries ?
