nice thread..i was thinking to open something like this because i did not feel good about the pak visit in this month. seems to me we have so many 'enemies within'. their captain has already given us an attitude in the great month.

Never did I understand the validity of such emotions. This is mere sports! There are more important things in life than sports. Should we severe all sort of ties with Pakistan every December, February, and March? All my life I have seen people advocating such measures; revengeful, harsh and unrealistic. Never did we ask, is this the sort of country we aspire to be ?
Surely we love our team, but sports and politics should not be mixed in any explosive form. Let's learn to keep these two separate. Our greater love should be to the fundamental human quality, and vindictiveness is not one of them.

In the West, politics is different from sports, but in this sub continent,it is just the opposite. India Pak series is even more political.

I do not see the attitude part? He simply didnot know, or kept track of importance of December 16th.
We celebrate because it is defining day for our country; They don't. What is so shoking and surprising their?
Our victory was earned. We don't have to suffer from so much insecurity to need endorsement from the everyone on this planet !

At any norms of any country or civilization, it is not acceptable from a captain of a nation.
It is not simply emotion or ignorance, it is an emotional intelligence with disgracing attitude.

Why people bring politics in sports?
Nachtey na janley uthan baka!? Amora jodi jittam, taholey ei proshno ki uthto?

Since religion has been mentioned above, no doubt, muslims have a bond that's stronger than blood brothers, as explained in the Qur'an and the Hadiths. However, in a game of cricket or any other sports, there should be no compromise on the field. Being a Bangladeshi patriot, I would slaughter, if I could, those who killed innocent people in our struggle for freedom in 1971; however, that does not give me or anyone else to despise all Pakistanis, especially the Pakistani cricket as they have been great supporters of Bangladesh cricket throughout. I consider the vast majority of the Pakistanis, excluding those who were responsible for the attrocities of 1971, as my brothers and sisters in Islam. I thank them for sending their cricket team to my country.

And oder ei shujog kore deya ta jukti-shongoto hoyeche ki ?? And we have a POLL too, so let's see what our peoples think of it !

Why are you so bogged down on the timing of their visit? Have you forgotten that 16th December, 1971, was the day we were victorious? So what if we play cricket on this day and lose? We won where it really matters. What's next, we should avoid playing England on every 23rd of June because Siraj ud-Daulah lost Bengal to them? Come on bro, don't dramatise this any farther.

Oh! No!! Should have give me a shout Raju bhai.
Who is that postdoc pal?
Well, it's not the city, rather the islands around it - I just love it, specially in Summer.
