I guess they are playing off the Roman ness of the team name and that it is a self evident truth that DG are champ material!

I just noticed that Neil (CEO of BL and sponsor of DG)was a member of ALU (My work place) for a long time (the last 5 years). Interesting that he is now working in Bangladesh!

Cant wait till BPL kicks off! This time i want more Bangladeshis amongst the top run scorers. Hoping Tamim will be up there with Shakib. I also hope Bijoy can make good runs and Mominul as well.

There are no payment issues. What happened previously is in the past and we all look forward to defending the title with, what is again, hopefully a high quality squad."

The nickname makes sense but might be too unconventional for popular taste: http://books.google.de/books?id=AY4E...diator&f=false

Nice one Navo Bhai. The best of the best of Gladiators - and Postulate - that is the premise. Try to have that word roll off the tongues for a regular person in Bangladesh.

Mashrafe deserves to be the skipper. He was the skipper even when he returned from the injury and did well. He and Shakib can steer the team for victory together

i think its a bit unfair for DG to call in Ian after the auction was done. Yes DG certainly have a strong squad but Ian should have had a say in what was going on.

If Mash is skipper - then why do you say "and Shakib"?

Gayle like last time can easily play 3 to 4 T20 games for any team before Aussies tour and if his team qualifies he can play the semi final and final.. we really need that x factor player for BPL. This year except Afridi we don't have any X factor T20 player.

fair enough. Its not only the X-factor thing, cricket is important. I want this league to be a proper cricketing tournament with decent player a bunch of hit-miss players like levi/afridi(of recent times).

I am pretty happy with the decent players in BPL 2, my mine concern was getting good bowlers especially pacers, I am more than happy with Tait, Nannes, Gul, Thomas and few more would have been nice for the tournment. Dhaka have been saying that they going to get a World class player, I am stll waiting to know who that is.

From FB status of DG:

Quote:
Veteran slow-left arm bowler Mohammad Rafique was named the assistant coach of Dhaka Gladiators while former national player Sanwar Hossain was named the team manager.

‘I respect what that are trying to do and I have faith we can all help them achieve that. Last year I said we are here to entertain the fans and we did. The same goes for this year as well,’ said Pont, a former bowling coach of Bangladesh national team.
This year’s Dhaka squad boasts no less than five fellow countrymen for Pont - something he acknowledges as a great sign.
‘Luke Wright, Owais Shah and Darren Stevens are wonderful T20 players. Chris Liddle has done well for Sussex and Josh Cobb is one of the most talented youngsters coming out of English cricket right now,’ he said.

Atleast 5 English players. I am sure Pont had a role in the squad selection. He might have been communicating with DG in the auction.
