Thumbs up A'ight Ponty, you know what you are doing! :D

For the longest time, Ian has been a fan of Bangladesh Cricket and of BC. He's mingled with us fans and explained, often in vain that he's more than just a bowling coach. That there are some fundamentals of motivation and establishing role clarity that translate into success on the field. Many of us have loved his passion. Some have not, especially after the protjapoti hype balloon bursting.

Yet look at what he's done:
1) Taken an assembly of all-stars, often with shifting set of available players, and won two consecutive BPL titles. Many will say Dhaka could buy all the players then wanted. But as NY Yankees or Chelsea or PSG or CLT20 shows, having a team of galacticos does not guarantee ultimate success.

2) He accomplished #1 while not getting paid (at least no where on time). And with the players often not getting paid either (though apparently some don't know their own bank account #s)!

3) He rotated his local players and their injury challenges (Mash, Shak) and even got something out of Da Rok.

3) He got - and I submit as the piece-du-resistance - Mr Ashar-ful to deliver, semi-consistent performance two years in a row!!! The same Ashraful who couldn't buy a run in NCL! Bigger names (deshi and bideshi) have failed to do that.

So hats off to you Ian. Congrats & Kudos! You done good. You know what you are doing and thus you knew what you were posting about all this time. Now can you please fix our pace-pipeline? Pretty please?

RazabQ.. thanks for your kind comments.

Just to correct you, Dhaka doesn't have any more money than anyone else. The BPL has spending limits and all franchises can spend the same, all have the same choices and all have the same access to players. So the success runs far deeper than on the field.

Having been involved directly in the Banglawash and back-to-back wins now in BPL1 and BPL2, I am unsure what extra credentials I could prove - if proof were needed - of being able to help BD to move forward.

I can confirm that the Projapoti is alive and well. Many of my UK students can bowl it, it's just that here, the UK newspapers don't hype it all up

I offered my services to work on a specialised Pace Academy to the BCB way back in 2010. Unsurprisingly, I am still waiting to get that contact from them.

Let's hope Dhaka Gladiators can go forward now to the Champions League and do BD cricket proud.

Arey rakhen miya! CLT20 jita dekhay den! Take help from Google translate.
Jokes apart, winning two titles in a row is no fluke. Getting a century out of an enigma like Ashraful deserves praises to. Giving credit where it's due: Well done Ian.
Btw, you waved at me at the stadium; Dhaka vs Rangpur match. I'm pretty sure you didn't know that you did.

Ian Pont is the best. He really is. Wish he was the BD Team National Head Coach.
He really knows how to bring the best out of players. And proved it with back to back success!

The role of a coach is to get the best from players by inspiring them in different ways.

I don't have an Australian accent so not sure I would ever get the recognition in Bangladesh as far as the BCB is concerned - even if I won the BPL titles back-to-back.....
