Smile IPL vs BPL

VS

So far, BPL 1- 0 IPL

Although BPL doesn't have that many big names as IPL,but I think this tournament has looked really exciting.
No,I'm not being biased, I've seen many boring/one sided IPL matches, although BPL matches have hardly been competitive aswell but the matches have been high scoring, very entertaining.
As u have noticed it's not my final verdict or anything but for the time being I'm quite impressed. (apart from the off field entertainment )
Apart from two teams the other four teams look really solid & balanced,so we can hope this tournament to get more & more exciting.
Pls,share your opinion.

No comparison at this point in time, and probably won't ever be....IPL, simply too big, too much money, too much coverage, too much everything basically.

But the BPL has a real chance to be an alternative for many players(players that have national team commitments during the IPL tournaments), players not being considered for the IPL(Pakistani players), and players in general who have been overlooked.

In this case, being a lesser IPL might just be the ticket to sustainability. Pakistan is a no-go, SL are broke....I just hope the people in charge don't mess this up, we mess up everything good

^ Chances of that happening are very slim. More likely that Gayle will have multiple teams in the Champions League.

In the last season of IPL it seemed like the enthusiasm for the game was waning. There were more empty stadiums and all the hoopla was more flat. I don't know why but I get the feeling that cricket, as a sport, is becoming less popular with Indians (despite their World Cup win) nowadays as compared to the late 90s/early 2000s.

I think its because the IPL is way too long.
I hope BPL doesn't go beyond 3-4 week's window.

And to everyone who are comparing- please, why do we need to compare BPL with IPL? we should be happy as long as it survives, draws crowd, ensures participation in CLt20, helps us build a better national t20 team and improve our cricket as a whole(as promised). Look at European football- for instance, dutch and German leagues are not as big as English or Spanish leagues but the quality of their football are not worse than that of England or Spain.

i have enjoyed BPL so far and I think simon was talking about just cricket; as a brand IPL is obviously much bigger but alternative brands can co-exist, look at different football leagues in europe... as long as BPL gets its share of the pie in international tele viewership it should be fine.......but please get the ticket prices further down may be to 100 we want peeps in the stands

IPL got Akon and who did we get??

I think Turbo bhai summed it up pretty well. If the organizers play their card right, it will be a good place for a lot foreign players who got overlooked by IPL

As for me, I'd much rather stay awake and try to watch all BPL matches than get all gleed up abt some unknown provinces of India. BPL i can relate to it. IPl is just clash of Titans. Random.

BPL is no match for IPL.
Don't kid yourself.

The whole point is not to match ours with theirs.
We gonna arrange our own and try to put the best show possible.
F6 and Firstlane summed it up pretty nice.

BPL has a realistic chance of claiming the second position after IPL, but it has a long way to go before overtaking IPL. IMO much depends on the quality of local players besides the foreigners.

Still I can't agree with that bringing eye candy cheerleaders is the answer. Sorry.

Well there is much less focus on the cheerleaders in BPL compared to IPL from what I have seen so far and their dresses are not as oshlil as we see in IPL. Guess we have to be satisfied with that if we are not like Orphy.
