DG is one of the favorites to win the cup and when you have got a chance to knock them off, why do you care for them ? Now, DG will get stronger once Afridi and Ajmal arrive which will make others (including Rajshahi) lives harder to win the cup. Its a tactical decision that Rajshahi had to make. Now, who deserves to play in semis is a different issue but in tactical point of view, Rajshahi has let the tigers out from the cage.
I hear your reasoning and I both agree and disagree with you. I'm not sure whether DG IS the team to beat and I think the Kings and Gladiators are at par in therms of who Rajshahi might want to face in the knock-out stage. The Gladiators seem to be a hit and miss team and not all parts work well on the same day - it's either batting or bowling. I'm not sure CKK is any worse or any better and Rashahi (who are on a roll) can beat either equally.

And I'm not sure Ajmal and Afridi can just fly in, wham bam thank you mam, and deliver the cup to the Gladiators. They are good but not that good (Gayle is from a different planet).

And you know what, perhaps the game was exactly as it was. It was hard going and Rajshahi just played it safe - why lose when you can win? You know, people say, never attribute to malice that which can be adequately explained by stupidity (in this case, simple inability).
