Default Long term changes post Asia Cup..

I guess Nazmul, Mashrafe, and Nasir have cemented their spots. Now you have a pretty solid base to build the team around - what would be your long term plan after Asia cup?

I would give Jahirul a full series as an opener with Anamul batting a bit lower down the order. If he fails to deliver, Anamul could open with Mominul batting at the lower middle order. Mahmudullah needs to get promoted to top order - he is a TOP ORDER BATSMAN - I can't emphasize this enough.

Rubel could replace Shahadat (moron) as well - and when he is injured Shafi can fill in. If the track is spin friendly, I would also prefer Elias/Arafat Sunny as the spinner.

My long term XI:
Tamim Iqbal
Jahirul Islam/Anamul Haque Bijoy
Mahmudullah Riyad
Shakib Al Hasan
Nasir Hossain (could be promoted if in need of quick runs)
Mushfiqur Rahim+*
Anamul Haque Bijoy/Mominul Haque
Mashrafe Mortaza
Nazmul Hossain
Abdur Razzak
Rubel Hossain/Shafiul Islam/Arafat Sunny/Elias Sunny

Reserves: Shuvagoto Hom, Junaid Siddique, Asif Ahmed

And players who should be nowhere near the team: Ashraful, Shahadat, Nazimuddin. Period.

Shahadat should never come anywhere near Bangladesh team again. Same with Nazimuddin in odi's. I don't think jahurul is very good either, Ashraful is gonna cause more harm than good to the team so I say no to him as well.

Jahurul opens for his domestic side doesn't he? He is better off opening IMO, just give him license to go for the kill.

I was a bit surprised that Asif Ahmed Ratul did not get many chances in BPL...
He had an amazing NCL prior to BPL.

Mominul needs more A tours. We want to make sure he is completely ready.
Anamul should Debut ASAP! not sure if we should throw him into the deep into opening position or play him at Number 7 an element of risk involved, but i guess it is one worth taking since Nazimuddin will most likely get dropped.

We badly need destructive opening starts like 100/0 or even 100/2 at the end of 20 overs. this way, if we are chasing or setting targets, even if the middle order does get a little sluggish due to pressure/saving collapse we can easily set a nice platform for a big chase/setting big target.

Call me crazy, but Anamul should open! Jahirul should be given a couple of more chances just because he played an important knock against India. Imrul Kayes should be in the hunt too...he had a bad BPL, otherwise was on superb form!

Short Term:
1. Tamim
2. Imrul/Anamul
3. Jahirul/Anamul
4. Riyad
5. Shakib
6. Rahim
7. Nasir
8. Mortaza
9. Nazmul
10. Razzak
11. Rubel

Next ODI series should be exciting, only concern is that, would BPL effect "wore off" by then and we get back to square one? I guess we shall find out!

I was gonna open this thread. Dangit!

I would extend the squad members from 15 to 20. Different squads for different forms.

Base: Tamim, Shakib, Rahim, Riyad, Nasir, Mash, Nazmul, Sunny, Rubel, Shafiul, Annamul,
Test Add: Imrul Kayes, Enamul Haque ,
ODI and T20 Add: Junaid Siddique, Jahurul Islam, Abdur Razzak,
Extras: Reza, Naeem, Arafat Sunny.

Long Term(maybe a couple of years):

1. Tamim Iqbal
2. Anamul Haque(wk)
3. Mominul Haque
4. Shakib-al-Hasan(c)
5. MahmudUllah Riyad(possilbe weak link)
6. Mushfiqur Rahim
7. Nasir Hossain
8. Mashrafee Mortaza
9. Nazmul Hossain
10. Abdur Razzak
11. Rubel Hossain

probables: Arafat Sunny/ Elias Sunny/ Noor Hossain/ Mosaddek Hossain/Al-amin Hossain/Kamrul Islam Rabbi/Imrul Kayes/Farhad Reza(he is improving mashAllah! but not quite there yet)/Sohag Gazi/Shruwadi Shuvo/Abul Hasan/Shafiul Islam/Shahriar Nafees/Junaid Siddique/Ziaur Rahman/Alok Kapali/Dhiman Ghosh/Enamul Haque jr.

bottom line is we need the HP Unit back. competition is STIFF! remember every two years, we have new U-19 players coming in soo...most likely due to recent Asia Cup results, many youngsters will be very encouraged to take cricket even more seriously.

id like to see guyz like reza as a bowler who will ball in the middle overs like shahadat and have some batting in him

Id like to see anamul getting more chances in national team. And as for mominul, he has a long way to go but as he isnt an opener it will be diff. to get into the team because our middle order is packed with Nasir, Shakib, riad, mushy

Arafat Sunny: I really wish he was in the national team....maybe when we play in spin heavy pitches.
He is pretty good! he should definitely get a National Callup soon(even if it be the World T20 tournament).

Same with Enamul Haque Jr...

I know. I checked. But for a lack of better option I had to. Him and Tamim had some of the solid opening stands. And I will NEVER EVER pick him on my ODI team. And I hate the fact that Nazimuddin turned into a Kayes himself!!

I think its time we realise Riad is not an ODI material. He is a one dimensional player, incapable of changing gears according to match situation regardless of his bating position. Nazimuddin looks like a fish out water in ODIs as well. We can play Imrul, Anamul & Zahirul alternatively at no 2 & 3 positions. We still need to find couple of more solid batsmen as back up for no 2,3 & 4 positions. Mominul could be one of them. I believe Farhad Reza could be a useful player for national team if he is not too old already. I would also bring in 2 more pacers to practice with the national team all round the year. At the moment no one stands out. I Had high hopes for Nur Hossain Munna and will watch him another couple of seasons before discarding him. We have to make sure the prospective national team players get plenty of opportunity to play in different conditions all around the world. That will give the selectors chance to identify the real talents.

did any of you know that if you make a list of ashraful's biggest innings and then compare them to the position he played in, you'll see that most of his big scores came when he was played at no. 3? and the innings' were well paced as well... not just go in there and hitting everything he can, but actually taking singles and having a strike rate of 60 or something.. I think Ashraful is meant for that number 3 spot.. do that and problem fixed.. and anyway ashraful has started playing so responsibly from late, he has definitely finally starting to become the rock that he was meant to be.

johrul opening korlo..johrul to bpl e opening ei khelse! it seems he sees himself as an opener as well..

jahurul is a good batsmen the way he got out of saeed ajmal it was an amazing delivery unplayable the difference was the pakistans world class bowling attack... we just need to practice on how to tackle them . Someone please replace nazimuddin and shahadat needs to be replaced badly .. even mushy said that during the post match presentation.. ceremony ...

long term anamul, mominul and asif will be in the frame, shuvagata maybe as well.

our 3 main pacers are rubel, mash and nazmul. shafiul is on the fringe as a back-up and al-amin is a potential.

jahurul's future depends on the next series presuming he gets picked. a good next series and he should be given an extended run but a bad one and he should be pushed down the pecking order again.

as far as spinners go the 2 main ones that are to look at are elias sunny and nur hossain. shakib is our main spinner, nasir should be given more opportunities, nur is our best leg spin option and elias is probably worth an extended run over razzak nowadays.

dhiman as the next in line keeper. i reckon mushy should be a specialist bat leaving the keeping either to anamul or dhiman.

now when it comes to allrounders our spin allrounders outside of the team are naeem and sabbir at least for shorter formats and pacer allrounder spot i guess is alauddin babu's just because there isn't really anyone else who has very much put their hand up. but tbh we don't need a pacer allrounder and shakib is amazing, nasir has amazing ability the only chance is to knock off riyad who is pretty decent allbeit not up there with shakib an nasir.

agreed with you 100%. i just have posted a very similar lineup in the "batting lineup" thread.

Imrul is not even in reserve squad!? He should be Tamim's partner in ODI for now IMHO.

We should play Anamul against Zimbabwe, and slowly introduce him to International cricket just like we did with Nasir.

Jahurul should stay at No 3 for. Asif needs to play for the A team and I want to see him Jahurul and Junaid fight it out for the No 3 spot.

To be honest we need a High Performance Unit where Asif, Shuvagto, Mominul, Anamul, Sabbir, Kamrul, Abul etc can develop into International standard players. If we have several players competing for each position we will see an improvement.

My dream team as well.
Though, I am not sure yet if Mullah is the best option for #3?

Agree to the team... Except Mominul ... Although he is from Double Bs. he is kind of over rated I guess. He is playing mostly behind the wkt and getting a bit success in BD leagues... But that kind of game won't make him successful at this level, I guess....

On a side note, would like to see someone taking up Mash's position...he is good but I don't know how long he can really continue.

Good team. I agree with Kalpurush. I don't think Riyad will do well at #3.

I would go with Asif Ahmed.
