Taking off Montolivo was a terrible idea. He actually managed to get a few good shots in the target, and now the sub Motto is injured. Playing with 10 men against Spain just not going to happen. All the talk leading up to this game about Mario B. and he's yet to make any contribution at this game. Spain effectively shut him out.

Iker has just broken a record. Played the most minutes in a Euro without conceding a goal. Saint Iker.

this game is making me wonder if the Germans could have been more of a competition for Spain?

Probably they would have.
But the Italians beat them fair and square.

Vamos Espana! First team to defend their Euro title, first team to win three back-back int'l trophies, Iker first captain to do so.

Maybe, they could have managed to score a goal or two at best, but that doesn't mean they would have been able to stop Spain from scoring. If Italy broke the German defense down for 2 goals, I'm sure Spain would have done better.

but the way Spain played today I don't think the German defense could have done any better... I wonder if the Italians would have done better if they had a couple more days of rest. Losing Chiellini so early and then Motta really was the knockout blow tactically.
Anyways hats off to the Italians for making it so far despite all their off field controversies

Congrats Spain. They did it without 2 of their best player. This team has history written all over them.
