Default Ian Chappell's Fantasy

Quote:
But there's one striking exception: the tantalising talents of Indian left-arm orthodox spinner Harmeet Singh. He bowls like Bishen Bedi, with that same natural flight and guile that would right now place him as the best spin bowler in any Test side bar England.

Chappell made that statement without much thinking. Ajmal, Shakib, Narine, Herath, Vettori? One just can't count off these world class spinners to a relatively young man who is still developing.

Does anybody care? He is probably encouraging him to settle down in Aus so they can pick him sooner than India, where he will have to wait at least a decade.

yeah that's a bit much, he probably thinks from the indian's he's seen that the guy has more potential or is better than the others. otherwise why say it? india has some really good batsmen in it's domestic structure so it's a pretty good place for a bowler to develop i.e. tougher environment which in one way is tougher but it prepares them better for higher level cricket.

he said chand should be in the national team now as well. chand might be a great talent but what about guys like rahane and tiwary who have performed for years and young guys who just moved on from u19 cricket in the last couple of years that are doing well? it's not like india is weak on batting talent so it's surprising to see a comment like this even if the player is a mega-talent.
