Media Release
ENROLMENT CEREMONY: BCB Contract for First Class Cricketers

The Bangladesh Cricket Board has decided to offer contracts to active local first class cricketers. The annual contract, which commences January 01, 2013, includes monthly salary packages and health/medical coverage as per BCB policy for first class players.

An enrolment ceremony has been arranged to launch the first class players’ contract policy. The programme will be held at the Press Conference Area of SBNCS, Media Block tomorrow (Tuesday, 28 August) at 3:00pm. BCB President AHM Mustafa Kamal will be the Chief Guest at the ceremony.

This is a good initiative no doubt. Now if B C B can activate the divisional cricket boards i can see something good will start for our domestic cricket.

Considering our political and economic situation, this is as good as it gets to get started. Football or other sports don't have anything close to that. No way in the world a soccer player dream of earning 10-15 thousand taka per match for playing these type of divisional or first class matches or getting central contracts etc..so I would say, very good initiative...

Cricket and football boards are different interns of revenue making...bcb is quite affluent and has revenue sources including tv revenue, hosting icc events and mathes doesn't depend on govt grants however foot ball federation is different they don't make lot of money ....in addition footballing Callander is different...there is no 1st class matches...it is based on leagues participated by clubs...so the clubs are main employers

BCB has more yes a lot more revenue source, but they also spend a lot more. Not comparing cricket with other sports from the revenue perspective, but given the fact that it is run by politicians and businessmen in BCB, what they are doing is really a good initiative...it can be better but at least they got started with something...

Rajshahi,Dhaka Metro and Khulna looks the strongest.

Sylhet,Dhaka Div,Chittagong Div will fight for the 4th place to get to 2nd round.
