Default Which batsman faced the toughest bowling?

i'm talking across their entire career and still managed to turn out great stats. i'm thinking allan border had it pretty tough, he got the 2 W's and imran, got donald and murali at the end of his career, de villiers, willis, botham, mushtaq mohammad, kapil, holding, roberts, croft, garner, underwood, hadlee, sylvester clarke, abdul qadir (who btw looks like wasim akram, don't know if anyone else has noticed), wayne daniel, marshall, walsh, ambrose, patterson, bishop, chris cairns, caddick.

and still managed a career 50 average. of course all the great batsmen had to face tough bowling but allan border batted in probably the toughest era for fast bowling. i know a lot would have faced the WI greats and imran and hadlee but of the ones who did probably not many got to face guys like donald, the W's, ambrose, murali.

Tendulkar comes to my mind as a close contender. He had faced bowlers like ambrose, walsh, imran, akram, shoaib, waqar, gul, donald, de villiers, ntini, steyn, mcgrath, lee, mcdermott, gough, botham, caddick, hughes, pollock, Streak, bishop, hadlee, bond, gillespie, marshall, cairns, vaas, murali, warne, saqlain, ajmal, mushtaq, qadir, swann, vettori etc and still manages to have an average of 53 in tests.

I might be missing out some names here. These are from the top of my head.

WI batting lineup. The faced the best in the nets EVERY practice day. One time back in the days, in an interview after a match, Andy Roberts said we prepare our batsmen for the worst. Talking about the speed: the speed (game time) you saw is nothing. if you want to see speed come see us in practice. No prisoners taken. - not word for word but something similar.

Thus they (WI batsmen) dominated other bowlers. Lloyd, GG, Desmond Haynes, Richie Richardson, Viv, Harper and so many others.

if you count practice then the pakistan batsmen during the imran, wasim, waqar era would have had a tough time.

tendulkar did face a lot of tough bowlers but he also missed out on some of the great WI fasties which were right up there with the very best. of course he got spinners like murali, warne, saqlain, macgill, ajmal, mushtaq, qadir, swann. so he probably didn't face quite as tough fast bowlers but then face more top quality spinners.

Pitches didnot assist the bowlers most of the time. Whereas ... You do the math.

With 132 years of cricket under his belt he would be up there, wouldn't he?
