I don't get how Mehrab Hossain Jr. scores 50's and all in the NCL but looked like Chris Martin's compatriot in the International matches he had played so far.

I think there should be a competition between Naeem & Mominul, the two centurions for this WI series.
I say let Naeem be our top order batsman, we have problem at 3, if Naeem fails then bring Mominul in.

Vice versa!
Bring Mominul in, see how he does, if fails, give Naeem a chance.
Or, how about both?

I'm all in for heavy scrutiny of Riyad's place in the XI

If Riyad fails to up his form in the next couple of FC matches, then we can leave him out and take both Naeem and Mominul

Problem remains tho. Most of these guys scoring runs are middle order batsman, and mats team have no problem with that. We need top orders(1-3) batsman to score more runs than there has been so far

Well, if I remember correctly, Ayub has opened one or two ODIs years ago, no?

Ayub never got called up for nats squad, forget about playing.
He was a superstar in academy lvl few yrs back...
Was close to get in the team after the icl saga but nayeem got the nod ahead of him and since than Ayub lost his consistancy

Still 3/4 batsman of his kind can frustrate the opponents a lot, which is very important in test matches. You know it, when the owners find a batsman in tests, looking for quick runs, they really get encouraged.
i think, its not that they don't know it, but they find it risky to do in the beginning, while staying in the crease is a difficult job for the most guys. I'm sure, even Nayeem kinds of guys will learn to take singles at ease, when he is comfortable holding the crease for long time in a few occasions, against quality opponents

Doesn't matter if it's top order or middle order batsmen, Nadim bhai. Come Int'l cricket, we'll be three wickets down every time by the 10th over.
joking
On a serious note, there are a couple of scenarios IMO.
If the selectors don't pick Nazimuddin, the #2 slot is empty. But in all likeliness, I think they'll stick with him. Other probables are Anamul and Nafees which I don't see happening.
The #3 slot is open, considering we're in no way going to continue with SN. That gives Mominul a good chance to debut. Or if the selectors are too hell bent on not introducing Mominul to Int'l cricket yet, then we may see Naeem.

I agree with you. Naeem plays slow not because he just wants to, he doesnt have the capability to push the ball around and rotate the strike. I understand the intention is there to stay longer but just that alone is not enough to play test cricket. He is just fooling us with big scores but we have seen enough of him before to know what he can do. People went gaga over him last time he played some big knocks as well (in bcb cup afair) but he failed miserably In international matches.

Agree and disagree with you.. Most of the time, he has been floating around in the batting order. He hasn't been a continuous run at one position in the Tests.
At least, he has the temperament to stay in the crease unlike others who wants to play T20 cricket in the longer formats.
