gazi is extremely one dimensional bowler, he wont survive much if he doesn't add more variation IMHO

but he has time in his hand, i hope he uses that

^What more dimensions would you prefer? He's pretty good, probably just tired from all that workload. You lot are incredibly hard to please, aren't you

shohag needs some fine tuning in his mind and the he can be great prospect for us

he can bowl the straighter one and the doosra. both of rhose are enough for a variation of an off spin bowler.

the only fact is using the variation at the proper time. the same problem mendis had. he has 6 variations but his mixing of variation and surprise element of the variation was not there and thats why he could not succeed in tests.

also gazi cannot always plan a way to outfox a batsman. something he needs to learn. i hope saqlain is workin on it

thats the variation i was talking about, may be a dusra is hard for him but he needs to have a straighter one that doesn't turn.

Did he bowled dusra or straighter one?..i didn't see one TBH, all i saw from him was the traditional offspin, i didn't watch the whole game ball by ball but the numbers of overs i saw from gazi i couldn't find anything then the offspin

I thought he is only more effective against the left handers, but he proved me wrong in this series,
though way to go for him to be in the top list

Gazi is not a mystery spinner like a narine/Ajmal - so he wont have that many variations, he is a classical off spinner, like swann, he has to get his wickets through deception in flight and consistency, not variations, he has a good straight one, also needs to work on doosra, but that will come with time

This is only his 6th test match out of them 4 was away. He has taken 26 wickets. Give him another couple of years and you will see his variations.

Gazi is a great bowler and seems like a natural wicket taker. He needs to adjust his line a little bit outside off to be even more effective. Throughout the test he bowled a bit too much on the stumps only to be worked away on the leg side. It's something Saqlain used to do as well during the last part of his career which is worrying

Yes. He does have a good straight one that seems to beat the bat often enough. I think he bowled compentently if not well this series.

Classical alright.

But Swann bowls with metronomic accuracy. Always in the zone, wicket to wicket with good variation in pace, flight and bounce.

Gazi's bowling is quite wayward, too many leg stump deliveries, sometimes too short, sometimes too wide. Needs plenty of practice.

But heres the good thing about spin. You can develop easily with hard work-not necessary to have natural talent. Look at Johan Botha, Nathan McCullum. Both very effective spinners who picked up the art late and learned via experimentation, trial and error. Even the likes of Rangana Herath, Ajmal, Swann put in a lot of hard work and sweat to get where they are today. So Gazi needs to keep working. Saqlain cant teach everything. Lot he has to pick up via experimentation, watching videos of other legends, etc.

Well said. I'd much rather have him worry about his control and discipline rather than adding more variations. What has more variations done to mystery spinners such as Narine and Mendis? They had a lot of variations but not much control. Great for T20's and ODI's but not for Tests. So let Sohag work on that part of the game. He's still very new and it's important that he works on the basics 1st.

Accuracy is the biggest friend of an off-spinner. Variations in flight and spins are the other key elements. Saqlain should make him watch Herath bowl and how he works on a batsman, finally springing the trap. Gazi is still young. If he is willing to put in the hard work, he is talented enough to become a feared off-spinner.

"I will say that the last six months have been a huge surprise for me," Gazi said. "Nobody [in the media or BCB] talked about me. I was not groomed to play for Bangladesh, but here I am.

Gazi is probably the least-coached cricketer in the team, given that he came out of Barisal Division and never actually come across specialised coaching until he met Saqlain Mushtaq, who is now Bangladesh's bowling consultant on a tour-by-tour basis. In keeping with that, Gazi has also been something of a refreshing change of pace in the Bangladesh dressing room, temperament-wise. A few players have remarked on his phlegmatic attitude in tough situations and his tendency to be quietly confident at most times. . . . . . .http://www.espncricinfo.com/zimbabwe...ry/633393.html

So Ghazi thinks that he have improved a lot in last 6 months.
