Default Can Ana-Mul survive in international cricket

Anamul footwork is worse than Nazimuddin. He really needs to work on his footwork otherwise it will be tough for him to survive.

We don't want another NazimUddin in our team.

Thats taking it a bit too far isnt it? The way he went abt his business yesterday and some of the shots he played really expressed the talent that he possesses. I think he is here to stay.

So all his success in the youth level he did it with poor footwork? guys common he was just a little nervous on his first outing like any young person making their debuts. He doesn't usually play like that anyway, just a psychological factor. He did well anyway in that match just give him time to find his way in the big stage. But I still prefer if he bats at his usual position 3.

I think Anamul can improve in that area of footwork and will only get better, just like how Tamim can improve on mindset. There is always something for everyone to improve on

Yes, he needs to improve footwork. But, his hand-eye coordination looks good. I can name a batsman with bad footwork, but good hand-eye coordination with two 300's.

Coach needs to develop his technique. Tamim that we see now is a much more improved version of his earlier self, so there should always be hope for a young cricketer like Anamul

Spot on observation as always. Bijoy needs to recognize this and work hard on his own to rectify the issue just as Tamim after a string of failures. Tamim sought the help of Salahuddin and worked with him for months. I hope Bijoy seeks McInnes out to do the same after the series if possible. In the meantime, he needs to show us what he has learned and move his feet progressively better in matches 2-5. I believe he'll improve faster than most as he quickly becomes more comfortable with cricket at this level.

I am not educated enough to comment on his footwork, but he just seems to be better than Junaid Siddiq......he at least sees the ball better

Got to 41 without footwork. Goes on to show how good he can get as he starts to gain confidence. Will he survive? Beyond doubt.

We are already talking about it in his OT thread. I'm pretty sure you stole our topic and decided to open a new thread for yourself. Very Jee-like. Congrats.

^Not a bad idea to merge all of these Bijoy threads with the one with a poll. That way the poll will be preserved.

It was evident..That he was quite nervous. Hence, the lack of footwork. The runs will give him a boost in confidence. Now, please stop making this threads. He became the highest scorer of U-19 World Cup 2012 for a reason.

He ll do fine. He has the ability to occupy the crease, thats what we ve been looking for. If there is a concern it should how to teach him not to throw away his wicket like he did.

let me repeat.. Anamul will develop into one of the best Bangladeshi batsmen.

His mindset is spot on.. he's hungry and determined.. he wants to do well... and he's a thoroughly likeable lad.

Technically ALL of the batsmen have work to do. Anamul will blossom.

For once, let him develop. There's too much tendency for fans to judge and dissect players on a performance or two then discard players. Australia, SA, England, India.. the top countries in cricket, all have had 30s aged players and upwards as key contributors. Bangladesh has none. Far too quickly sometimes are players thrown onto the 'fans' scrapheap.

Make sure Anamul isn't one of them before he's barely started!

We need a Siddons alike coach who can fine tune our batsmens' technique and footwork and all. Over time Anamul WILL develop into a world class player like Tamim and Shakibul-Awesome. We just have to cringe a little for the time being when he bats.

It was his first match where he was so nervous. So wait and see but I want to see him his best position at #3.

BTW, it sucks to be the OP after Ian's endorsement.

Footwork wise, none of our batsmen are even near perfect. If we take Tamim for example, he plays several slashes where he doesnt get anywhere near the ball, but he has tremendous balance and power, hence he can smack the ball out of the park.
And given we barely play at Old Trafford/Perth, I reckon our players can get away with weak technique. Obviously, if Anamul faces Steyn at Waca or Johansberg, he would be in a lot of sh*t. So will be every other batsman we have.

I don't think we need to worry too much about Anamul. It was his first proper international game, nerves are bound to be there. Some of the shots he played, he exuded class. If you look at his BPL innings, he doesn't have a poor technique either. And I have heard from several Dhaka league players that Anamul is perhaps the finest cricketing talent to emerge in the recent past. Let's give him an extended run, let him find his feet [no pun intended] in international cricket.
