30s don't count. Even 70s don't count at the U-19 level. We've seen it all and don't need any more people crapping their pants when they get to the national team. Get some hundreds and two hundreds and then we'll talk.

Having said that, he's young and has lots of time. So does everyone else in the squad.

agree. It really hurts the young lads with talents.
I do not understand these BCB guys, they should show some intelligence and innovation in dealing with these emerging talents instead of playing dirty politics and applying individual ego.
But these dirty 'political' BCB guys never learn and apply. This is simply pathetic.

he is still young and promising and we always need good kepper batsmen.

I think main focus was on saikat ali, amit majumder, abul hasan, sabbir rahman and mahmudul hasan

but anamul hauque is performing. hopefully BCB will give him proper training to become a fine batsmen

How tall is he? How is his family support?

[I had a cousin 6ft+, who knocked up few centuries in the 90s in different age grouped leagues and he was a WK. He got calls from the U-17, U-19 camp. His Dr. (the bhua kind) father, my uncle, had nothing to do with Sports. The boy just graduated from Pharmacy last year. Thus how we lose talents.]

nothing special so far what I have seen today. probably we lose good wicketkeepers at the beginning as we select more a batsman/wicketkeeper than a wicketkeeper/batsman at age group. all the wicketkeepers are good batsman, we need a wicketkeeper who is not a good batsman. one can improve batting later but keeping - probably not!

Anamul- he is only 16-17 i guess....
so 2 more yrs to play for Under 19
then 2-3 yrs to play for BD A team.
after that, if he continues to perform and improve his batting and wkt keeping then only could be considered for National team.

in the mean time, we need to focus on Mushy, Shagir and Mithun only. We cant afford to misuse and spoil another young talent.

Anamul's keeping is like Mushfiq's. He can make basic errors but can also be spectacular. The stumping was extraordinary. He seems like a talented batsman but needs to work on some technical issues. He is one of the youngest members of the team yet he is very active. Like Mushy he is loud behind the stumps but not as annoying. He is only 16 so he has a lot of time to work on his flaws. I see him as a future U19 captain and he should break into the national team at some point in his career.

I saw him today, he batted really well indeed.

About his keeping, with the exception of that amazing stumping, I thought he kept pretty poorly today spilled quite a few simple chances and still needs to learn a few basics about keeping. If he could work on his batting on his continual progress, he should aim to cement a place in domestic First class cricket to build on his experience but atm, don't see him anywhere near the levels of Rahim or even Saghir Hossain.

I have not seen his innings today. What I seen from highlights, he played some good backfoot strokes, albeit with limited footwork (SN style). Atherton also commented that Anamul seemed well capable playing from both frontfoot and backfoot. Most of the batsmen coming out of BKSP nowadays are frontfoot biased, so Anamul certainly looks like a standout prospect as a batsman.

His keeping needs lots of work though.

He is only 16 though, so he has a lot of time before we should even considering playing him in a match.

the main reason for pavel's inclusion in the WI series was we needed a back up wicket keeper. we couldn't dropped mushy, even though his wicket keeping ability is nothing to brag about. i don't mind some one like pavel not getting a chance to play in the first series he gets called up in the national team. it gives him an opportunity to know what it feels like to be part of the team, work with the team, and all the other good stuff that comes along. but i wonder how does our management communicates with players like him. Do they actually go up to him, explain the situation, and tell him what kind of plans they have for him as a player, or what they are expecting from him. For example, if i was Mithun Ali i would wonder why wasn't i selected for the WI series, even though its pretty obvious that i was mainly picked because of my strike rate in T20. thats fair enough, but i would love to hear some words of encouragement from the selectors, something like you are a very good prospect for the shorter format, but you need to do such and such, before we can consider you for the longer format. little word of encouragement from our management could help the younger players in the long run

i was very impressed-
his stroke play was special and it was not hitting every ball,
his stumping of northeast (key batsman made 41) was top class, took another sharp catch, missed couple though but u expect that when the ball turns so much,
he was mom today for his batting nd particularly for that stumping, commnts had very high remark for him

Any career stats on him?

He's too young IMHO...and just two matches don't mean anything.

i think u forgot something, bd is not england, austrillia, or india. that we can expect from our players to do that. no one did hundreds in this series. than how can we expect from him. i think its good to see his trying his best. every match has little contribution. now time to see, what musy do in ahead 3 odis.
