Law in line to mentor batsmen

Stuart Law is expected to take over as Australia's batting coach for the remainder of the series against South Africa if Justin Langer is confirmed as Western Australia's new coach. Langer is likely to be put in charge of the Warriors after the end of the Brisbane Test, and Australia's management has already sounded out Law, an assistant coach at the Centre of Excellence, about filling the post for the Adelaide and Perth Tests.

Law was working with the Australians in the nets ahead of the Gabba Test and he could be the front-runner for the full-time role if Langer departs. Prior to joining the Centre of Excellence, Law served as the coach of Bangladesh and was Sri Lanka's interim coach after the 2011 World Cup, having first joined them as an assistant in 2009.

"I've had word from both Pat Howard [Cricket Australia's team performance manager], and the Australian team management that providing that Justin takes the West Australian job they would like me to be around the group for the summer for the preparation stages of each Test match," Law told the Sun-Herald.

As Ponting was practising his slips catches on the field, preparing for his final Test, it was notable that the man hitting the ball to him was Stuart Law, Australia's acting batting coach. Law and Ponting made their Test debuts together at the WACA 17 years ago and both men scored half-centuries. In fact, they put on 121 together for the fifth wicket against Sri Lanka, a partnership that ended when Ponting was wrongly given lbw for 96. Law finished on 54 not out. He did not play another Test. Ponting is now taking part in his 168th. On the first morning of this match, Law could have been forgiven for wondering what might have been.

Law is a moron! I mean if you read the article on the BBC website "Does Bangladesh deserve its test status"? you will see that he suggests that Bangladesh play in the second tier along with Ireland, Afghanistan etc. So it was clear why he quit as coach but just want to say to him hope he reads bangla forums that if we can beat India, Sri Lanka and West Indies all in the same year then quit suggesting such things Mr Law. Bangladesh are miles better than Ireland, Canada....
