Does anyone have list of domestic players who are unsold. Also Niall Obrien is in India someone should fly him across. He was looking forward to it.

Pakistani players are now suffering from the drama of their board. But PCB also can't gain anything from it. They also loose the option to force Bangladesh to tour Pakistan. So they have a big loss because of their nonsense decision.

Why don't we get players from Afganistan, Netherlands, Ireland - they also have 1 or 2 quality players.

Excellent decision by BCB, now they should allow Franchise to sign anyone they want be it in auction list or not.

Very happy like any Bangladesh fan should and according to the article on Cricinfo, only Khulna Bengals should be greatly affected. Instead what the franchises should do and future BPL is recruit more players from other countries especially their tall fast bowlers and players from associate countries like Ireland or Afghanistan. Instead of 60 foreign players which is too much, try to go for 40 foreign players in the tournament so there won't be issues like payments etc.

PCB could have taken this decision earlier...would have given a chance to the franchises to reorganize

What difference will it make for such a short time. we have seen him down under in the odis, whoever buys him will be a waste of money.

From here:

I believe the main goal of BPL got lost in all this controversy over pak players/tours and going after big stars. It is a domestic tournament after all. You don't see us crying for them in BCL.
The main object for BPL is to give national players/fringe players/upcoming young players a competitive tournament along with international players where they will feel the pressure and intensity and an arena to prove their case. This was successfully achieved in BPL1 and the confidence was reflected in Asia cup and the ODI performance since. Even Shakib/Mushfiq admitted to it.
But for most, BPL has turned into more glitzy tournament with parties, opening ceremonies, cheerleaders, stylish players. We should totally avoid turning this into IPL type (which has been the case for India's deteriorating performance) and BBL (main purpose is to attract viewers). For us, SLPL is correct format to emulate where they don't care about big names but allows good cricket for young players and identifies talent - such as jeevan mendis, thisara perera and more..

In the end it hurts the Pakistani players. Obviously BPL loses some luster from this but we can replace these players from other nations. Pakistanis ending up losing fat pay checks and also some quality coaching that they might have not gotten before.

Absolutely!! Why did BCB give the deadline 2 days before the tournament? They easily could've made the deadline 2 weeks before the tournament--especially when they know that PCB can throw a wrench at them...
Its interesting that, only SL board is coming to rescue, BCCI is still showing a cold shoulder towards BPL. They will allow players for Dhaka League but not for BPL because it undermines IPL's influence. Mockery!

Making no money, plus no viewer interest. And SL have been getting thrashed left and right in test cricket for past 2 years. So your point is invalid, even India destroys them every time they play.

Look at demographics. BD has a huge population, any media company would reap profit from here..which isnt the case in SL.
However, his point probably was to see how SLPL gives chances to everyone and not bother much about big gun. After all, BPL is a domestic event and the idea is to bring out future talents.
