If a Bangladeshi player keeps winning MoM in IPL, I must say that, quality of local Indian players is poor comparing to the outsider. It's simple. In this particular case, my point was that, Bangladeshi players are not performing well or unable to become a match winner. I am happy that, today we will get a MoM in the form of either Nasir or Shamsur.

^ It really is. Desi performers are doing well but yet spectator numbers seems not reacting with it much even its a new venue and first time match under flood light in Khulna. IMO 4 day camping schedule in each venue is bad strategy, leaving ppl option to appear any one day of them. IMHO today local team should appear as a first BPL match been played here at Khulna. And "no icon player" made the teams almost identical in pov for suport being local. Although this creates fair compition and overall cricket quality got higher, but local suporters wont have much eager to spectate home boys playing as oposition. If this drought continues tomorrow, that will ring alarming bell for BPL in ctg as well.

Only decreasing the ticket price will not do, you have to decrease the fare of transport, due to the evergrowing price of petrol and gas in Bd the tuktuk walas/ taxis are beyond the reach of normal people, Anyone holding the ticket will get extra privileges from those guys. Even if they don't wanna reduce the price after showing the tickets they should at least take you to the ground which is very much unlikely these days.

Players get into field hungry
Atif Azam . Khulna
Mismanagement in the Bangladesh Premier League hit a new low on Tuesday when players of Chittagong Kings and Rangpur Riders went to play their match hungry as organisers could not provide them with lunch on time.
The delay in serving the food to the dressing room created a repercussion as it took the franchises off guards and put them in an embarrassing situation before overseas players.
Assistant tournament coordinator Jikhrul Ahsan admitted the failure but blamed the local hotel.
‘It happened because of the local hotels who did not want to take orders for food,’ Jikhrul told reporters.
‘Despite several attempts, the City Inn did not listen out our requests and only late night, the Hotel Royal accepted the order,’ he said.
The City Inn’s managing director Alamgir Hossain said that the organisers had ‘only taken the menu card from them but had not contacted them later.’
‘There is no way we kept them waiting because they just took the menu rate,’ Alamgir told reporters.

BPL T20
Deadlines turning into lifelines
* Deadline for resolving payment issues postponed to January 31.
*Players yet to receive 25 per cent of their wages, which was supposed to be paid before the start of the tournament.
The second edition of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) T20 rolled into action despite all the difficulties, although the lack of crowds at the matches has emerged as a headache for the organisers. The major concern however remains the same -- the issue of nonpayment. There seems to be no end to the issue as the game of 'setting deadlines' between the governing council of the BPL and the franchisees continue unabated. The franchisees had been asked to resolve all the pending payment issues by January 16, but the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) once again had to relinquish their tough stance with yet another deadline.
“Really we are in a spot of bother with some payment issues, but one thing is very clear -- they (the franchisees) must solve all the problems. We are hopeful that everything will be solved by January 31. We want to make everything clear before the tournament gets back to Dhaka,” said BPL governing council chairman Afzalur Rahman Sinha yesterday.
“The players are yet to get the twenty-five percent payment which was supposed to be paid before the start of the tournament. Some have already cleared their dues as per commitment, while only two franchisees paid their appearance fee to the board. One franchise is yet to clear last year's dues of some players. These are the issues we must solve immediately,” he added.
BCB started the tournament last year without any documentation and the non-payment of the players dominated the first edition and had frequently made international headlines to tarnish the image of the tournament. Sinha however was confident that such things will not happen this year.
“You know how difficult it was for us to start the second edition. The first thing is we must continue with the tournament but that doesn't meant we compromise with any irregularities,” said Sinha.

If they don't clear payments this time around there won't be any S8 players next year. we have to hire these IR, Scot and Nepal bellow per players.

Valid point, but if you are coming from far corners of Dhaka like Uttara, Banani, Dhanmondi, Old Town or outskirts like Gazipur, Norsingdi etc. it would be a better idea to come in a 4/5 persons group, which is generally a healthy size to enjoy a match I would rather suggest to get your own transport like a car of your own or a relative or a friend, you can happily share the gas price which would be lot cheaper than an auto. Also, you can rent a car to leave you and pick you up when it is over, even the total money shared would be cheaper in a sense as it would reduce extra hassle of getting an auto both before and after the match, your disappointment with the service and the less time spent in travel.

Well I know for sure all the semi final and final matches will are most likely to be filled as last season and all of Chittagong matches at home plus many more new players will be coming to BPL soon so the coming weeks of BPL look very positive. Quiet slow start to BPL 2 so far but it will build as the tournament progresses and gets interesting where all the teams are heading. I'm actually happy franchises are not gambling with spending more so payments looks to be sorted out correctly for once. Let's just hope there are no more controversies like last season so BPL will be there for a very long time in the future.
If it does go well hopefully it will, then it will teach BCB and franchises that Pakistani players or Indians are not really needed and instead as long as payments are made, can go after players from other countries especially associates because they have been invaluable so far and get them for good reasonable prices.
Hopefully after this BPL is over, Bangladesh national team will be even more confident and better and win many more international series and our local domestic players would've gain some skills and build on it and play much better.

This is BS. Are the franchises refusing to pay players money or something? We are in the middle of freaking 2nd season and they are still talking about clearing payments from first season? I wouldn't be surprised if half way through the tournament we start hearing about players leaving.

Forget players...even I won't follow this Fing BPL, if there is any non payment issues this time around....losing respect.
International players I'm sure won't come....if they face problem with payment...

"No benefit if stands empty" : Tamim Iqbal
There were no ball-bashing or towering hits, but still there was no shortage of excitement in the low-scoring match between Duronto Rajshahi and Chittagong Kings yesterday. But the almost empty stands at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur was in stark contrast with the proceedings on the field.
Nobody wants to play in front of merely one thousand spectators and the winning captain Tamim Iqbal (Duronto Rajshahi) was no exception, which is why he appealed to the fans to come to the
stadium and make the second edition of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) memorable.
The dashing batsman was not aware of the high prices of tickets -- which many believe is the main reason behind
the poor turnout -- but requested the organisers to look into the matter.
“If my request has any impact, then I must ask the fans to come to the stadium. I am not aware about the price but I think the board should think if the ticket price is high. In the end there is no benefit if the fans don't come to the stadium. We must bring the fans to the stadium because it's always fantastic to play in front of a big crowd,” said Tamim after the match.
Tamim looked in high spirits after an expressive celebration but the left-hander denied that he had any special motive because of the fact that the opponents were his former team Chittagong Kings, with whom he has bitter memories from last season.
The national opener, who recently returned after a successful trip in New Zealand, however thanked his young brigade for taking the opportunity after they had suffered through the last minute withdrawal of the Pakistani players.
“I asked the young players in the team meeting to take the opportunity and I'm happy that they played their part. It was a chance for them and they took up the challenge. You know, some of them didn't even know that they were going to play in the BPL,” he added.

According to Prothom Alo, they removed chairs from one side of the gallery because apparently they all broke. This entire stadium was renovated before WC 11 as a replacement venue just incase. This stadium hasn't even been used much, how do chairs break within 2 years? Some BCB officials said, "Chair gulo khub bhaje chilo, rodh-er taa-pe shob fete geche kinba frame theke uthe geche".
How do we expect these clowns to improve our cricket, when they can't even manage to look after the stadiums.

BPL 2 will be the last BPL if the franchises continue to be cheap and does not honor the contract with players

who are those incompetent people that cant even arrange lunch for the players? And blame hotels when they forgot to order for lunch?? How come they get the job in BCB, BCB should fire or hand punishment to these laughing stock.
And for those owners, who are jumping up and down on TV when their team plays is a great disgrace since they are still in unpayment saga. Shame on them, dont want to see their shameless face on TV until they act right.

This is really pathetic. They can't do anything right. People don't even come to watch this circus and rightly so.

No big crowds of 10k-plus so far?? Why not just give the ticket away at somewhere around 70-90tk for the league matches and up the price in the semis and final.
What would they rather have; less than 2k-people coming in the ground paying 200tk (or whatever the price is) or 10k-plus people coming into the ground paying something around 70-90tk for most stand and some coming in for better stand at 200-300tk??
With which option would they (the organisers) make more profit with between the two above??
Clearly...the second one. Its no rocket-science...
