Monstrous innings by Zia, doing it all by himself in style.
Congrats on his first FC century and superb batting.

Incredible innings. 15 sixes for a BD guy in an innings is something to be proud of..

There are three 16's and one 15 recorded in Wisden 2012 :

16 A Symonds (254*) Gloucestershire v Glamorgan, 1995
16 G Napier (196) Essex v Surrey, 2011
16 J Ryder (175) New Zealanders v Australia A, 2011-12
15 JR Reid (296) Wellington v Northern Districts, 1962-3

The record for most sixes in a match is 20 by Symonds in the above match

In the last wicket stand of 93, Murad's contribution was 0 (Zia 92, 1 no ball). According to Wisden Book of Cricket Records, this is the biggest stand in which a batsman contributed zero. The previous best was Walter Robins (75) and Jack Young (0) in a last wicket stand of 75 for MCC v Yorkshire in 1946 (http://cricketarchive.com/Archive/Sc.../17/17873.html )

The book is a mid 1990s edition, but the record is probably still the same

That was a tremendous knock by Zia. Getting selected for the national side (even if for T20s) has boosted his confidence. He could be given a chance in ODIs to see how he does.

Can't blame Zia for playing like T20 because his partners were running out but seriously, not only Zia should be part of our T20 plans but also part of our ODI plans and I have no doubt he will contribute a lot with not just with the bat but also with the ball.

If he did not run out of partners, a 300 might have happened! He was in a zone...

ZeeAh

I know the way he plays it won't always work, like probably 2 out of 3 times he might get out cheaply playing shots but the one time it will click my word he will definitely make a difference.
Not saying a quickfire hundred but in ODIs and T20s if he plays like that & scores a quick 30-40+ might make the difference between a win and a loss.

The way he was going, he easily could have done it in ODI and T20. But, a player is in a zone only once in a while.

A century against Shahatat, Talha, Sunny, Mosharrof and Riyad is always a good one. Well done Zia.

Ziaur Rahman, who was raining down sixes all around the park, pushed the ball straight to mid-off and started for a single to retain the strike as he was batting with the last man.
An early pick up and a possible direct hit from Shamsur could have made Zia run out, but he did the opposite. A frustrated Mahmudullah first kicked the ball and to everyone’s surprise kicked the stumps.

Its good that national team seniors are being serious. If they are, then the domestic players will too.

wonderful innings by zia ....... and also mosharraf got the 5fer ....

some people were surprized by mosharraf's price in BPL. well looks like mosharraf will soon comeback to the reckning for consideration of National setup. he was lost since his ICL return.

I think that considering Ziaur into the Test/ODI team is an interesting topic. We clearly witnessed in T20s that he is a blind slogger. But he did scratch out runs during his time in the T20 team and he did perform at times.

Walton have a bad batting lineup. The only people i would expect to make runs from their team is either Riyad and Ayub. And maybe to a lesser extent Shamsur Rahman?

After 8 overs of play CZ is 1 down for 43.
Ash is batting on 4. Hoping a doubleton from him.
