I wouldn't mind Naeem getting an extended run in the test team but if he isn't consistent enough then he might get the axe simply because of the competition for spots. I would give him the axe so that Riyad can get a promotion to #4 and fit someone else at #8. I think the main worry is to find a good pace bowler and also to find an opener for Tamim if Anamul moves to #3.

Srilanka bowling specially in Tests is very poor.
what I think is in tests we should be able to draw, but knowing how poor our temperament is...
In Odis with Sakib we will be a strong unit but Srilonka at.home.will be good too.

Forgot about that. Just remembered there's no Malinga in Tests. If we debut Anamul and bat down to 8 InshAllah we can bat ourselves to a draw. We won't get a better opportunity than this especially as there's no Murali to contend with as well. The only thing I'm concerned with is playing Tests after playing so much T20s. I hope the batsmen won't play kamikaze cricket.

 সাকিব আল হাসানের ডান পায়ের শিনবোনের চোট দেড় মাসের বিশ্রামেও ভালো হলো না কেন?
 পুরোপুরি চোটমুক্ত না হওয়ায় গত মাসের মাঝামাঝি সময়ে জাতীয় দলের ফিজিও বিভব সিং বিসিবিকে জানিয়েছিলেন, সাকিব বিপিএল খেলার মতো ফিট নন। তবু কেন বিপিএলে খেলছেন তিনি?

পুরোপুরি সুস্থ না হওয়ায় সাকিব আপাতত টেস্ট না-ও খেলতে পারেন বলে যে আলোচনা চলছে, সে প্রসঙ্গেই বড় হয়ে উঠছে প্রশ্নগুলো। প্রথম প্রশ্নের সম্ভাব্য উত্তর, হয় এই দেড় মাসে সাকিবের চিকিৎসা-প্রক্রিয়াটা সঠিক ছিল না। চোটটা আসলে কী ধরনের, সেটা ধরতেই ভুল করেছেন চিকিৎসকেরা। অথবা চিকিৎসকের পরামর্শ এবং পুনর্বাসন-প্রক্রিয়া ঠিকভাবে অনুসরণ করেননি সাকিব নিজেই। কাল বিসিবির ক্রিকেট পরিচালনা কমিটির সভা শেষে মিডিয়া কমিটির প্রধান জালাল ইউনুসের কথায় রইল তেমন আভাস, ‘জাতীয় দলের ফিজিও অভিযোগ করেছেন, কিছু ক্রিকেটার ইনজুরির ব্যাপারে সচেতন নয়। ঠিকভাবে পুনর্বাসন-প্রক্রিয়া অনুসরণ করে না। যে কারণে তাদের ইনজুরি সহজে ভালো হয় না।’

সাকিবের শিনবোনের চোটটা লম্বা হওয়ার কারণ নিয়ে নানা রকম চিন্তা বিসিবিতেও আছে। বিসিবি এটিকে গুরুত্বের সঙ্গেই দেখবে। সামনে শ্রীলঙ্কা ও জিম্বাবুয়েতে পিঠাপিঠি সফর। দুই সফরেই শতভাগ ফিট সাকিবকে পেতে চায় বিসিবি। দ্রুত সুস্থতার জন্য প্রয়োজনে তাঁকে বিদেশে পাঠিয়ে চিকিৎসা করানো হতে পারে বলে জানিয়েছেন জালাল ইউনুস, ‘যদি দেশের বাইরে কোথাও গিয়ে চিকিৎসা করালে তাঁর দ্রুত সুস্থ হওয়ার সম্ভাবনা থাকে, তাহলে সেটাই করা হবে।’

সম্প্রতি সাকিবের বিভিন্ন শারীরিক পরীক্ষার রিপোর্ট দেখে ডা. দেবাশিস চৌধুরী বলেছিলেন, পুরোপুরি সুস্থ হতে অন্যান্য চিকিৎসার সঙ্গে দীর্ঘ পরিসরের ক্রিকেট থেকেও সাকিবকে কিছুদিন দূরে থাকতে হতে পারে। কাল সভা শেষে সে রকম সম্ভাবনা একরকম নাকচই করে দিলেন প্রধান নির্বাচক আকরাম খান, ‘আমরা শ্রীলঙ্কা সফর থেকেই ফিট সাকিবকে চাই। সব রিপোর্ট দেখে যদি মনে হয় বিদেশে গেলে ভালো হবে, তাহলে যত দ্রুত সম্ভব তাকে বিদেশে পাঠানো হবে। সেটা যদি হয় কাল-পরশু, তাহলে তা-ই করতে হবে।’ কিন্তু সে ক্ষেত্রে বিপিএলে কি আর খেলবেন না সাকিব? প্রধান নির্বাচক এবার আরও কঠোর, ‘আমরা চাই ও যত তাড়াতাড়ি সম্ভব ফিট হোক। বিপিএলে না খেলে যদি সেটা হয়, তাহলে সে বিপিএলে খেলবে না। দেশের স্বার্থ আগে।’

শুধু সাকিব নন। মাশরাফি, মুশফিক, তামিম, মাহমুদউল্লাহ এবং জিয়ারও ছোটখাটো চোট-আঘাত আছে এবং প্রয়োজনে তাঁদেরও বিপিএলে বিশ্রাম দেওয়া হবে বলে জানিয়েছেন জালাল ইউনুস, ‘ফিজিওকে আমরা বলেছি, বিশ্রামের প্রয়োজন হলে ফ্র্যাঞ্চাইজিদের সঙ্গে কথা বলে এই পাঁচ ক্রিকেটারের বিশ্রামের ব্যবস্থা করতে। আমরা শুধু ওয়ানডে বা টি-টোয়েন্টির জন্য ফিট ক্রিকেটার চাই না। আমরা তিন ধরনের ক্রিকেটের জন্যই ফিট ক্রিকেটার চাই। যে খেলবে, তাকে ওয়ানডে আর টি-টোয়েন্টির সঙ্গে টেস্টের জন্যও ফিট থাকতে হবে।’ জালাল ইউনুসের কথা সাকিবের বিষয়টার সঙ্গেই বেশি জড়িয়ে যাচ্ছে। কারণ, বাংলাদেশ দলের জিম্বাবুয়ে সফরের সময়ই হবে আইপিএল। টেস্টের জন্য আনফিট আর টি-টোয়েন্টির জন্য ফিট মানে সাকিব জিম্বাবুয়েতে টেস্ট না খেললেও আইপিএল খেলতে পারবেন! বিসিবি সেটা সহজে মানবে বলে মনে হয় না। ‘জাতীয় স্বার্থ আগে। কেউ আইপিএল খেলবে কিন্তু টেস্ট খেলবে না, খেলায় এ ধরনের ভাগাভাগি আমরা চাই না। ফিট না হলে পুরোপুরিই রেস্টে চলে যেতে হবে’—বলেছেন জালাল ইউনুস।

If Shak's injury is not too serious, he should be kept in the team as a batsman only, for upcoming tours, in all formats (may be asked to bowl only occassionally).

Although I'm looking forward to this tour, I've said it before and will say again, I have a feeling this tour is going to be a lot tougher than most people think. SL were down and out against Aus, but the way they fought back in the end would give them plenty of confidence. Dilshan/Sanga/Jayawardane are a threat to score double/triple tons in home conditions in any given test match. Their bowlers bowl really well at home - their pacers know how to exploit their conditions and spinners, including Herath and Mendis suddenly turn into Murli when bowling at home. I'm hoping for a competitive ODI series, not too optimistic about the tests though.

I've actually said this before, even without this injury, he should be focusing more as a batsman than a bowler. We already have many good spinners. So we don't need his services as much with the ball as we do with the bat. Having him bat at #5 and then being our 2nd choice spinner is a lot of work. I feel he should be batting at #4 and then we should have 2 specialist spinners there and we use Shakib as a #3 spinner.
