বিশ্ব হকি লিগের দ্বিতীয় পর্বে দারুণ এক জয় পেয়েছে বাংলাদেশ। দিল্লিতে আজ বুধবার অনুষ্ঠিত ম্যাচে শক্তিশালী চীনকে ৩-২ গোলে হারায় বাংলাদেশ দল।
বাংলাদেশের হয়ে গোল তিনটি করেন যথাক্রমে চয়ন, কৌশিক ও পুষ্কর খিসা। তবে ম্যাচ সেরা হয়েছেন রাসেল মাহমুদ জিমি। কারণ, নিজে গোল না করলেও দুর্দান্ত খেলে বাংলাদেশের জয়ে সবচেয়ে বেশি অবদান রেখেছেন তিনিই।
বিশ্ব হকি র‌্যাঙ্কিংয়ে বাংলাদেশের অবস্থান ৪০তম। আর চীনের অবস্থান ১৮তম। বলার অপেক্ষা রাখে না, এ ম্যাচে শক্তির বিচারে সুস্পষ্টভাবে এগিয়ে ছিল চীন। তবে শুরু থেকে আক্রমণাত্মক খেলে ম্যাচটি নিজেদের করে নেন বাংলাদেশের খেলোয়াড়েরাই।
বাংলাদেশের গ্রুপটা বেশ কঠিন। র‌্যাঙ্কিংয়ে সবার চেয়ে এগিয়ে ভারত (১১)। এরপর আয়ারল্যান্ড (১৫), চীন (১৮) ও ওমান (৩৬)। ৪০তম স্থানে থাকা বাংলাদেশের পেছনে শুধু ফিজি (৭০)।

Bangladesh defeated hot favourites China in the World Hockey League at the Dhyanchand Stadium on Wednesday making it one of their most memorable nights in their brief yet illustrious history of hockey.
Bangladesh overcame the Asian powerhouse by 3-2 goals to register their first points in their second game of Round 2, after a defeat against Ireland in their opening game.
The win was all the more remarkable because the Chinese side are 22 places above their Bangladeshi counterparts in 18th place, while the South Asian nation are 40th in the official world rankings.
