It was very difficult for me to adjust to dhaka in the beginning, and I don't always see eye to eye with my parents; but now that I think about it, moving to Dhaka to be with my parents was the right thing to do and probably the best decision I made.
I have the same feelings. Even though my parents keep telling me that stay there (in aus) and do well for my betterment but i know how much they miss me. Since they are getting old, they are becoming more sensitive and emotional. I can feel that while talking to them. For me, my family comes first then other things. I can't lead a happy life seeing my parents unhappy. May be i will go back to BD for good within couple of years. But that wouldn't be easy, i know but i don't want to regret myself later on.

My amma's ending was very painful and she had to endure a very slow and long suffering. Soon after her heart surgery (about 8 months ago), a few months later her old Mysthenia Gravis' effects started to rise up again and as it causes dysfunction in the neurological system(Dr. Rubel da will understand and be able to explain it a lot better here, as he is a neorologist) and it caused her lungs' muscles to dysfunction, they would not work anymore, and she stared to have severe short of breaths and very very weak breathing cycle. She wasn't getting enough oxygen into her system and blood streams. They (her doctors, care-givers, the hospital) took her into the ICU and gave her artificial life support and that machine stayed on for her, off and on, most of the time she lived the last 62 days, she couldn't breathe on her own anymore...her liver shut down soon after and her face changed to dark , almost black, due to that. Then a few days later they found five lesions in her brain, and the infection started to spread all over her body. Then she started to have heart attacks while laying there at the ICU and after the 3rd attack last week, the doctors had to let her go, because she didn't respond back with this injection they gave her that night twice before and she revived...we also agreed not to give her the electric shock thing (I do not know what is called, I see it on movies) as her cardiologist said her heart muscles were very worn and woun't be able to take itr, she was very weak and frail. Her Kdneys the shut down and her brain was left with 3-5%(according to the doctores)functions....I often aksed for forgiveness, to her ears, whispered and my little brother too, I do not if she heard or not. Being the older the child, I didn't do anything for my parents. Everything around them are taken care by my little brother and may Allah bless him and his wife. My mom's temperature dropped once like 94 F the last night or the night before to some very low degrees and then her tempreture rose again very high like 107 F, her right eye (she lost vision in her left eye 12 yeras ago afetr a post-surgery recovery) started to dilute and blood prossure would be all over the place, sometimes high and the next moment very very low and moment later very high agian....these were the last few changes, small events in my amma's life as she prepared herself toward her departure.

Inna Lillah'e Wa Inna Lillahe Rajeun,

May Allah rest her soul in peace, my mum passed away 3 years back, my dad also is no more for 7 years now. Both of them passed away at very early age, and very suddenly, and I havent been with them for a long time.

They are always in front of me and that's how I live, I always feel them but cant do anything on this, cant see them anymore, still living in this world and have to live.

So may Allah give your family strength to survive.

Roman - loved your phrase - 'righteous son'. Zaved is pretty much the most righteous person I know. I am not worthy. Good people like him deserve the best.

I am very sorry to hear about your loss zaved bhai. May Allah grant her the highest levels in Jannah. I am sure your parents are amazing coz you are a very loving and honest person.

As Sohel bhai said, things don't get better but you get used to it. I lost my father about almost 10 years ago.
