Default Your team selection for the 3rd ODI

Tamim
Jahurul
Shamsur
Mushfiqur
Shakib
Nasir
Mahmadullah
Shohag
Razzak
Ziaur
Shafiul

Who's out

Ash: Why do y'all keep letting him back in the team? He has proven over and over again he sucks, even when making big scores(which is like never) he relies on numerous dropped catches.

Mominul: From what I've seen, he's better suited to the test format. Can't rotate the strike to save his life. Just not good enough of a strike rate. I mean I'm not bashing him, we brought in young players. Anamul has been terrific, Mominul not so much.

Robiul: Nothing wrong with Robiul, just that it was wrong to leave out Gazi in the first place.

Who's in

Jahurul: He has the goods as on opener. Very laborious batsmen, and we need guys like that to pair Tamim's natural flair. Also, just deserves more chances. Why should inconsistent guys like Ash hog a place in the team?

Shamsur: Deserves a go asap. Need to find other Anamuls.

Shohag: As I said before, was a mistake to leave him out of the team in the first place. Two pacers are enough, one of them will produce something good. I'm confident Zim players (or any other players for that matter) will not last long if they try to smash Shohag.

Wow, your team selection is spot on. Only change I would make is Nafis for Jahurul since to me Jahurul appears to be as confused as Mominul is. I think we need a batter like Nafis who is a hit or miss type of player. He's got conviction in his approach; either it works or it does not.

This is what I posted in a different thread:

To be honest Ash got too much slacks in this series starting from the late SL series due to his 193. I think it's time to cut him off the team so he come back again in some future series to play eid inning. I would take Nafis at this stage cause he actually scores lot more freely than Ash or gets out. And obviously Mominul needs to be dropped from ODI....not his format.

So my line up:
Tamim
Shamsur
Nafis
Shak
Mushy
Nasir
Riyadh
Gazi
Razzak
Zia
Shafiul

I also would drop Robiul for Gazi in Bulawayo pitch condition. He can at least stop the run fest on these belters better than medium pacers and he's a better batsman. I would utilize Zia as the opening bowler with Shafiul with the potential of getting some runs (like 12) from him at #10.

Here is my team:
  1. Tamim
  2. Shamsur
  3. Mominul
  4. Shakib
  5. Mushy+
  6. Riyad
  7. Nasir
  8. Razzak
  9. Gazi
  10. Shafiul
  11. Robiul
Ash is not good evern for his eid inning in the ODI these days. I'll bring Gazi back, because of ZIM's weakness against spin.

So you still want Mominul in there? I see absolutely no use of him with that poor strike rate. We already have an anchor role player in Mahmadullah much lower down the order. If Mominul is to be a one down batsmen, he cannot score his runs that slow.

Also I think Zia is to be persisted with. He had one bad game. He had shown enough brilliance with the ball in the SL ODIs and the 1st Zim ODI to be given a few more chances.

Agree with Roey, enough of Ash, he is a walking wicket in ODIs, it has been 22 ODI matches he didn't score a fifty.
Momin is a big NO
But don't know about Gazi in place of Robiul, most of the wickets in 2 ODIs were taken by pacers.

Shamsur & Jahurul should bat at 2 & 3. Gazi should come in Robiul's place to open the bowling with Shafiul.

I already mentioned many times that I am not happy with Mominul's inability to rotate the strike in the ODI. Having said that, wickets are important as well. If you have wickets, you can always launch after the 35th over. The 15-men squad does not have too many people I want in his place.
I am ambivalent re Zia vs. Gazi for the 3rd ODI. Either could be the right answer, but this is a slow wicket. Thus, Gazi could prove difficult for ZIM to handle. Spinners had more success in restricting runs in the first 2 matches.

One thing I call tell, Mominul is not #3 material (at least not right now, he may grow to it, but that would take at least a year, minimum).

Mushy or shakib should come at #3. Rest does not matter too much.

Looks like lots of people want Shamsur. And I like the idea. But my concern ius if fails in 3rd ODI, will his carrier will be over? Do we have the patience to stay with a new player a little longer than few games?

Some of you want Jahirul. That was kind of funny also. Will all his limitations, Jahirul was playing a role most like the team management wanted him to do. But the fans were not happy. So what you guys want this time from him? Something different than what we was giving to the team or yp9u guys came to the realization and admit to appreciate his role he was playing?

I see another wave of "dump jahirul" demad after 3rd DOI.

As for me, I though he was bringing some value and he had some upside, but I didn't cared when he dropped. But I really hate thise bring new players and then chopping them without not giving enough chances or not realizing what the team was asking from the player.. what team wants (from a young player) and what fans want may not be same.

Best batsman of the team should bat at #3. So Both Mushy and Shakib are very good candidate here. Mushy is weak against new ball and his reflex is not yet up to the mark in international standard to tackle the express bowlers. In this case best option to me is Shakib. Only problem I see in him is weak in driving the ball. If Shakib can adjust him in #3, it will be a great relieve for us.

agree he has to be nurtured first but at this moment especially for the last game we might need the seniors to step up and build the innings in that important position.

So Robiul and Mominul and Ashraful out in your squad? I doubt they will make three changes!

To boost the moral of the players some changes are necessary. Change will be at top order. But I dont think there will be any change in bowling line up.

I wouldn't really recommend pushing Shakib up. My XI:
Tamim
Ashraful
Jahirul
Shakib
Mahmudullah
Mushy+
Nasir
Razzak
Gazi
Zia
Shafiul

You could have just read the original post. As that's the same squad I proposed. Would have saved you the trouble.

I just don't see him as a long term selection, he is pretty much being selected for his bowling, i might pick him instead of robiul. Sure Zia took 5 in the first match but highly doubt he ever repeats it, But i would happily be wrong if he could do it, but he is in my opinion a bits and bobs player.
