PA report says Ctg coach Khaled Mashud was interviewd by the ACSU. I hope they interviewed Pont as well. He was trying to cover up Mash and Shak's exclusion after the match. Its easy to assume that if the captain and other players were aware, the coach were aware as well.

DG owner has denied any wrong doing

If the chance that PA was wrong, what are the libel laws in Bangladesh? Are there any? Does Ashraful know what Libel means?

He could own PA by the end of this mess

PA news was direct. But too many news papers are brewing the news for last few days. Its just the beginning before more newspaper will be directly mentioning "the player".

The question is not only if Ash can sue PA?

The question is what Ash will do next? Will he sue all the rest of the news papers?

And the followup question is what happens if PA is right? Can they counter sue Ash?
How he will manage all these legal fees in top of fighting against ICC?

More questions to follow are: Should the loyal fans create a legal fund for him? Or they will desert him?

Legal fund? Get me out of here man

যাই হোক, যাহা রটে তাহা কিছুটা হলেও ঘটে!

I am not surprised to see the news, it was always coming, the way DG lost that match, man I never saw anything like that. It was reckless. But the finger is at Ash- this surprises me, I knew that this guy is is a gentleman whatever his career stats are.

If anyone found guilty then they should be punished severely, no second thought. But already PA raised a question: has Ash done something wrong or he is just a victim? And according to them some people will try to show him as a victim. I think like any other case in our country the criminals might get away. If it happens then it will be 'the beginning' of becoming of a new 'Pakistan'!

If the report is true, this is just the tip of the iceberg.
I'm sure there are others involved if the whole thing is true.
IPL=big money=corruptions
corruptions=BPL
I see a pattern here.

when we talk about spot fixing, one or two players are good enough for that. the BPL match they are talking about is simply match fixing (if true) and there is no way a single player can be blamed. it involves lots of player and officials. i wont be surprised if it involves some high BCB officials (if the allegation is proved).

There are few things that needs to be cleared, based on what we have read so far:

- Nothing suggests that Ash has had any direct or indirect relation with any bookie or have taken money for any spot-fixing. So such allegations and name callings should be made at this point.

- The Prothom Alo article has to be yellow journalism at his best.
http://www.prothom-alo.com/detail/da...25/news/354952
Its speculative and manipulative without any proper source of information.

Really ? How does PA only knows that when no other notable newspapers doesn't ?
You would think Daily Star would probably have same or better inner connections with the BCB high ups and surely if it was that damning confession that got out, Daily star would have published the news as well !! But they haven't.
DS report is much more mature and only stated the happenings of the last few days without any conclusive finger pointing.

Not only PA has some good connections inside BCB, they have some seriously good connection to the inner circle of Ash's close confidants who made this piece of information available to PA right after Ash confessed of his wrong doing. Hec, PA should run the Intelligence Agencies of this country.

Then quietly slip in another line to further strengthen the statement by using the reference of a trust-able name.

Now, look at the allegations:

1. Toss decision : Was it right or wrong ? Well, Ash isn't the first captain to have taken a dubious decision after winning the toss. Infact, most of our captains can be charged with taking some seriously idiotic and questionable decision to either bat/field first and we have often expressed our frustration during and after matches.
It does not prove anything.

2. His own slow batting : Yes, his batting on that mach was frustrating, but nothing suggests that he did that on purpose to cause an undue pressure for his team members. Just look at the score card :

His slow batting comes into question ? Then look at his team mates !!
That nigh when he was suddenly made standing captain,
-Ash was the highest scorer of the team,
-the ONLY top order batsman to have played more than 10 balls,
-the ONLY top order batsman to have SR more than 50 !! (and he played slow)
-the ONLY batsman in the team to have SR more than 60 !
- He was the first man in and the last man out.
-When you stand in for the regular captain and find your team 6-30 in 9.4 overs chasing 143 with you being the only specialist batsman left, there's nothing much you can do.
-Dont know how his slow batting can be contributed to the team's loss !! It wasn't that the other batsmen got out while trying to get things moving. NONE of the top 7 batsman (beside him) scored more than 2 runs and not one single of those 6 batsmen had a SR over 40 !!

3. He deliberately lost the match after owner's pressure : The match looked iffy on the naked eye, thats true, but how can Ash be the instigator ? If he had this evil secret plan to carry out the task by himself as per ordered, dont you think he should have decided to bat first and so that his team can bowl later where as the captain, he would have a better control and could have manipulated fielding position and bowling sequences to win it for the opposition ?

Rather it was the opposite ! He bowled first, kept the opposition to only 142 even after CTG were looking really good at one point on 108/2 after 14 overs. Later when DG chased, Ash found himself to be the only one standing, fighting for the team at the half way mark with team's score 6-30 after 9.4 !!
So, he persuaded all the top 6 batsmen to perish early ??

Now, the general observation:

1. How come ACSU investigating this one game only when if you look at it, the most suspicious game would have to be the Rajshahi-Chittagong game early in the tournament when Ctg had a dramatic collapse chasing 99 and lost by 2 runs even after being 3-63 after 12 over !!

So, one is just the pure dramatic glorious uncertainty of this beautiful game and the other is suspiciously dirty ??

2. The timing : Is it just purely coincidental that this allegations surfaced right after the IPL scandal ? First, the indian media reports one Bangladeshi player involved in IPL bookie ring despite never playing in IPL itself, then immediately it follows with allegations of corruption and malpractice in BPL. Really ?

It was in response the suspicions of “match-fixing” over the BPL game between Dhaka Gladiators and Chittagong Kings.
ACSU were specifically hired to tackle this type of issues and were paid a handsome amount of money by BCB during the BPL 2.
But did not find nature of suspicious conduct serious enough to take the issue urgently and act immediately if all the signs were written on the wall ?
So, what went on between "nothing wrong" to "interrogating" someone 3 times in an utter emergency to find the truth ?
The news of BPL match fix surfaced on Indian media first, right after their own players got caught with money, as The Hindu reported on the 23rd May http://www.thehindu.com/sport/ipl201...cle4740300.ece

If the allegations against Ashraful is substantially conclusive, why isnt he suspended by BCB as yet ? Surely, the top brass of BCB, who hired ACSU privately, knows the unofficial findings.

Thing is, 'certain' bigger entity is going down and if they do, they aren't gonna drown all by themselves. They will take few other small blokes with them, just to make 'em look not the only bad guy around.

ACSU's "finding" will depend on the extent of what the big brother wants it to be.
But make no mistake, few sacrificial lambs will be slaughtered and one of them needs to be a high profile one.

40.6 from Cremer, run-out, wow, tossed up outside off and it turned away, he tried to drive that, didn't get the nick but it spun away sharply to beat the keeper and Taylor dived to his left to stop it, he managed to get his left hand to it, Ashraful thought it had beaten them both and took off for the single, Taylor collected the ball and lobbed it back to the keeper who took down the bails as Ashraful turned out, Ashraful lost it there 132/6

I love how mods are being "proactive" and editing out "speculating" posts...

As if that will do any good. BC members are simply going by the news reports, whether these are yellow journalism or blue, it's your opinion. You don't know who's write and who's wrong. I just don't think it does any good, simply wasted efforts.

Of course CI won't do anything until everything is final. They don't do their own invastigations. Lazy asses

Can't read Bangla, but knowing the crap quality of our journalism, I wouldn't be surprised if the PA is just pulling stuff out of their a$$ or on the take from BCCI/IPL to make BPL look just as corrupt. This is more than just a coincidence, if you ask me.

if you are a BD fan you should know what ash is. both ash and mash denied the lucrative ICL offers while others just grabbed it. so you must have respect for the players. its not a good idea to mix his on field performance with his personality. if you are knowledgeable enough you should understand, a single person can't do something called match fixing most of the time it comes from the management (especially in BD). i have seen many of these examples in club cricket.

these types of news suits supporters like you. you guys can humiliate a player for bad performance and then be in the front to celebrate when they do good. for me its the Bangladesh cricket which comes first , whether they loose badly or do well. the support is always there.

Why did PA mention Darren Stevens as an Australian player? He is an English. Ian Pont wouldn't hire any Australian.

I am sure you don't follow Oronnya's posts. She is one of the few ones who always speak up for the players even when they fail constantly. I understand you love Ash but lets not forget he is just a human being. After the ICL saga Shahriar Nafees said that Ashraful was one of the leading contenders to join ICL but he back-flipped at the last minute.

really!! you believe someone who already betrayed for someone who did not then according to him Ash and Mash should have been the king pin as they both denied the offers.

its not a issue that i am fan of ash or mash. the question is why one people (especially) will be blamed when its a team game. if it was spot fixing, i wouldn't have protested at all. the way news and other speculations are coming, it seems that everyone has picked their scapegoat for the purpose already.
