Default Darren Lehmann

So now he's coach of the aussie team, great pick imo but what about his test career? he was a truly awesome bat, should have played a lot more test cricket (like many others e.g. hodge, bevan), unfortunate that he was part of that generation where australia just had tons and tons of batting talent. still averaged close to 45 and struck at nearly 62. not to shabby with the ball either, he didn't bowl that much but an average of 27 in both tests and ODIs striking at 65 and 34 respectively made him a good option with the ball at times. if you have seen him bat look him up on youtube!

I've read his autobiography. Feel sorry for him that he had a very early debut to his international cricket and was snubbed. He had to work real hard for opportunities in his early days as a cricketer. He worked in the Ford Car Making Factory for a bit where he worked in temperatures of 40-50 degrees celsius! It shows how determined he is.

I think he is the perfect coach to have for any team because he gets along with players so well. He is part of the boys and also brings discipline into the team. On top of that he is a humble guy.

I think when the Aussie team won the Ashes a while ago the team put a "Shrek" doll in remembrance of "Boof" as he wasn't with the team then. It goes to show how much respect he gets from everyone. Even though he wasn't with the team they still didn't forget about him.

yeah aside from his cricket he was a top bloke, down to earth, humble, but hard working and respected. he's been there, done that so players can respect him for that, and it means he respects the players knowing what they're going through as he's done it himself. but watching him bat was glorious!

Did Lehmann coach one of the BPL teams last year?

The good thing is, the given the current situation of the Australian side, the only way to go from here is up. Australia has a very good bowling attack in Starc, Siddle and Pattinson. So his main focus should be on the batting, and being a LH batsman himself, he'll be a good mentor for Phil Hughes, who is in desperate need for some guidance.

Yeah okay, so BPL BBL.

I thought he had affiliations with a certain BPL team as well. My mistake.

Good cricketer - but I wasn't aware he had the required acumen to be the HC of the Australian national team. Even though they are a really crap team atm.

Maybe it's an appointment allowing for both coach and team to grow together.

In his maiden year as a coach he led QLD Bulls to Sheffield Shield victory. He has instantly been known to be a shrewd tactician and on top of that is a player's coach.
