India's bowling

But take a bow de Kock, de Villiers and Duminy. That was some hitting by them.

I really doubt it. Steyn, Morkel and Tsotsobe are no trundlers like the Indians and plus this is SA not India. Although the Saffers made it look easy, it wasn't the easiest pitch to bat on

A lot depends on Kohli. The man is a batting machine regardless of where he plays

Now we will see what Kohli, Dhawan, and Rohit Sharma are really capable of. Are they just flat track bullies or real class players?

Kohli averages a 53 in 29 matches in Africa, Europe and Oceania. So we can't really call him a flat track bully. The guy is beyond that.

Dhawan and Sharma have something to prove though. They have the ability no doubt.

Morkel and Steyn are so much fun to watch. Philander and Tsotsobe as well.

Kohli needs to step up this SA series though. I don't have much hopes about Rohit Sharma. Dhawan will be interesting.

De Villiers could end up as the greatest ODI batsman of all time. He is a beast.

So far Rohit Sharma has been exposed as a FTB. So many plays and misses. Yuvraj and Raina... they have been exposed as FTBs a long time ago. Kohli was looking good but he was dropped cheaply. This is such fun to watch after watching India dominate on their home tracks for so many months.

South Africa is making India look like West Indies against India with only the roles being reversed this time, but deep down we all sensed this. 250 would've been a very good score on this wicket and they scored 358

India is done in this match. Knew this was not an easy pitch to bat on. SA scored 358 not because of the pitch but because India just bowled so badly. SA will not bowl that badly. Their lineup is just too good to allow that to happen.

Still 2 games left but India have a lot of work to do if they want to win this series

Following a non BD match live after almost 2 years. Didn`t get to see the SA innings. But a score of 350/4 points to a complete domination over the indian attack. Virat played like a class player before he got out, albeit, getting a life. Must say Rohit looked clueless. But, what was fascinating to see how Yuvraj, with almost 300 ODIs, was worked over like a complete novice by a pacer not exactly express.

Lets see how Dhoni and the rest fare from here on. I see India losing this by a good margin.

Problem is I don't see Indian bowlers improving in this series with the exception of Mohammed Shami. SA will only need to see off his overs and they should comfortably put up big scores every time with the likes of Amla, deVelliers, Kallis, Duminy and now even De Kock in their line up.

Time to take their test status away maybe?

They probably had a bad day. India was a FTB before but this is a new team and they have some really good players. They got the much needed exposure to a quality bowling attack in a bouncy track . Looking forward to see how they do from now on

^ okay agreeing that this was a tough test for IND batsmen. But why are the fast bowlers so bad? The condition was great for fast bowling. It had everything for pace bowling yet they conceded 358 runs. No excuse for that. They aren't any better than our Abuls.

WTH just happened ?
man missed it,

I saw PAk vs SA, Pak won the ODI series and I thought if Pak can do it then Ind should easily do it.
But I forgot that Pak got a world class bowling attack unlike Ind.
This is where things will get interesting for SA.
But no doubt Ind are a much better team and they should be able to come back strong, they just need to make sure they bat first and post a huge total.
This is not India that they can easily chase down 350s like they did to Australia.

Pakistan's ODI series win in South Africa was unexpected as they just beat Pakistan 4-1 in a tougher condition. With a view on that series people started talking about the possibility of India's first series win in South Africa as they were clearly in a better shape than Pakistan. It was the first match of the series and Indian quick bowlers failed not only to utilize the dew-less pitch early in the afternoon they horribly succumbed in the death overs lacking any variety. On the second half Indian batters eventually came to realize that chasing 350 in Wanderers isn't akin to do it in Nagpur or Jaipur. May be they needed the experience of Gambhir and Sehwag in this kind of setup. Although Virat had a great start to dent Dale Steyn and his ilks, none of his compatriots has lasted long enough or managed to show the blitz necessary to win the match. Indian's may ponder a couple of replacements in Mohit and Raina ahead of second match, but they can't take too long to acclimatize to this hostile tracks.

but de Villiers played that shot I believe after SA had crossed 250, which was already a winning total; at that point he wanted to up the tempo and nip in the bud any thoughts of competing Indian players' may have been harboring. kintu amader shona manikera used to attempt those shots with 10-15 runs on the board and perish in the process 8 times out of 10.
