Talking The Paan Thread * not to confuse with the Pun Thread

In the subcontinent the eat this thing called paan? pan? anyhoo. more can be found herehttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paan.

My questions to y'all iz pun a drug? what is shada pata? how come adults forbid me to chew it from the paan bucksho?

The leaf itself is not a drug. However its one of the ingredients inside, the betel nut (supari), which is considered to be a mild stimulant.

Paan pata (leaves) are basically of 2 types: shada (plain) and miththa (sweet) pata.

It is a custom here to serve mishti paan as a refreshment at ceremonies after the feast. I use to have 5-6 of them one after another.
